Thank you. I did the TSU 4408 install with the additional Bachmann board and followed George's suggestions for equalizer tweaks. The built in speaker really works well. I could not be happier with the Blunami Soundtraxx sound board, and the Bachmann Dash 9. Both are worth the wait and work great together. I have no issues to speak of with this setup.
@@SoundtraxxDCC can you please do a video on how to install a Blunami into a lgb Plymouth engine please. I need to see how to do it please so I can make mine work please

Thank you. Why didn't you use the plug in adapter board with the wires already attached instead of soldering the wires directly? Bachmann includes that board specifically to make aftermarket boards easy. Soldering to the board seems rather risky to me. Also are you concerned about heat and cooling of the 4408 in its location? Finally what current keeper would you recommend for the locomotive?
Not at all concerned about heat. A) the Blu doesn’t get hot.. and B) with a stall current well below the 4A limits, it will not be an issue. I used the solder pads instead of their jumper board because the wires are very short, and I wasn’t sure if they’d reach, and soldering is easy and reliable, not risky, provided you use the proper soldering techniques (SoundTraxx Webinar 8 on YT..). And using the jumper AND the decoder on top may run into fir issues. I hope this helps,, Thanks for watching!

@@SoundtraxxDCC so what part number of decoder And does that have sound decoder or another item I plug in to blunami? And do you sell the rectifier , if not I need a amazon link of what you would use.
Man, that was an eye opener. We just received a large scale CSX unit and we’re all a bunch of HO guys. I was able to get track down and run the unit during our last show. No sound, no smoke and not much lighting but we were happy with just running the unit to break it in. I was wondering if we needed another controller or something to access these features. But now I know. My question is………if we purchase the Blu 4408 , is the app free to download and is that all that’s needed to access these wonderful features on these machines?????? Thanks Again. Oh yeah, we also received a ton of track………….
Yes, the Blunami App is free. All you need is power to the decoder and the app to run the train! If you have any questions, our Support Team is here to help: (970)259-0690 or support@soundtraxx.com.
Yes, use the battery as the track input wires and ignore all track power. If you wanted to still have that option, then you’d have a switch to route either track or battery power to the decoder. Get the best of both worlds!

What was preowned, the decoder or the model? We can only help with the SoundTraxx decoders, and if that is the case, many of the user’s guides are found at soundtraxx.com under support or support@soundtraxx.com. But if you are needing help with the Model, then you will have to contact the manufacturer, in this case, Bachmann. I hope this helps.
So i just bought a blunami 4408 and the Bachman dash 9. I have wired it up just like you have it. Maybe not as neat. I can get all the lights to work and sound. But the engine will not move forward or backward? Any suggestion I am using a 18.4 v battery.

It may be. I chose to use this method because then I was not worried about the relatively short wires on the adaptor plug, combined with the uncertainty of the pinouts matching their adaptor, resulting in wires needing to grow to reach various terminals. For me, this was easier and neater and used less space inside the model than the adaptor and then the decoder. But if you want to use the adaptor, then test-run the wires and verify. It may be easier than I thought, but I chose this method so there were no complications I’d find during the installation that caused me to rethink or change paths.. I have not heard anyone say they did or did not use the adaptor, so no personal feedback. Test and verify! I hope this helps.
Is there another decoder to install without soldering and messing with the board? Anything plug n play available?kinda disappointing when you spend 1k plus on a loco and it doesn’t have sound
While I can understand the frustration.. We do not have a plug in module. The model specific types of decoders take the same amount of engineering to lay out the PCB, test and manufacture, but you have a much smaller market of customers, only ones that bought this model.. basically duplicating the same engineering as a universal board.. With limited engineering capacity, you have to pick and choose what projects to focus on, and the specific boards like this would not be profitable in the end. Now, this model comes with an adapter plug-in with wires you can attach.. But I chose this method for 2 reasons.. 1) I know I made the proper connections and they are solid and 2) the adapter has short wires, and if they do not reach the terminal on the BLU-4408, I'd have to extend the wire anyway.. I figure I can keep the install 'cleaner' myself with some basic wire management as I show in the video to keep it cleaner and more professional. Yes, it is a little more work than a simple plug-in, but to me it's much more reliable and you'll enjoy years of reliable operation.. I hope this helps. Contact us at support@soundtraxx.com if you need any further assistance. Thank you! ~G
Ideally you want 8 Ohms or higher. If you run multiple speakers wire them in series, and make sure the speaker(s) are capable of handling the 3 Watts the 4408's amplifier can put out.. If you have to use a 4-Ohm speaker, we don't recommend it, but you can reduce the volume and reduce the strain on the amplifier to help preserve the speaker and amp.. Just don't crank up the volume or you will damage something. This is why we recommend using a 8-Ohm or higher load for the decoder installations. I hope this helps.. Thank you for watching! ~GB
My opinion is that the plug-in wires appear to be too short, and then add more height to the PCB and could run into fit issues with the plug in on the PCB, the the BLU-4408 on top of that. So, there was plenty of room below, so I felt it may be a little more work, but end up a much cleaner installation. Again, personally I prefer an extra bit of work to save lots of frustration later. I hope this helps! Thanks for watching!!
He wired it to a function, so you’d simply toggle it on through the app or with a function key on DCC. The switch on the main board just needs to be enabled for it to work, I always recommend leaving the main board off when there’s no smoke fluid to be sure it doesn’t burn out.
@@jensenleblanc I know how to do it. The thing that upset me here is in the video hewntioned he would show how a battery could be installed or where and also he mentioned he would show the smoke. Did not do. So video I n my book is not very well edited. Too any items missed.
