    Hey Trip, just a friendly suggestion, always strap on a dive knife to your calf, it a "fish" gets too curious you can always poke back if it gets a little close, and if you get tangled in something it's nice to have something to cut your way out with. Cheers Brutha!!

      No, there is some small oil residue, like on most compressors.
      But what matters is the filter, that traps those residues. It has to be filled and checked correctly. After a week maintained filter, the air is fine

    For those watching this video and others like it DO NOT use any scuba system unless you have been trained i am trained to 30m and i will say this trusting in any system even small simple ones will kill you if you do not know the rules on using them...infact you are safer diving on a single breath and no scuba if you are not trained, and that is not a joke.

      It's a Citizen Promaster dive watch. I have had the same watch for almost 20years now, and it's predecessor for a few years before that. With the base it pops into, you can download it to your computer to log your dives and add info, where, when, conditions, of your dive. I used mine mainly for logging HBO treatments and the patients info for the hospital I worked in. It worked well even at 6 atmospheres.

    Stating the obvious here, but it's irresponsible to suggest to viewers that it is perfectly safe for a 15-years out-of-practice diver to dive alone using gear they haven't been trained on. Guy doesn't even know how big the cylinder is, (it's 2L). Best to take a SCUBA refresher course first. There's a vast difference between using a SCBA on land vs. going underwater using SCUBA. For one, with SCBA you don't have to worry about ascent embolisms, buoyancy control, nitrogen saturation, drowning if the equipment fails or you get disoriented, getting caught in tidal currents, etc. Overconfidence can hasten you down the pathway towards self-deletion.

    • @TripSmith
      @TripSmith  8 місяців тому

      Oh boy.... I spend quite a lot of time in the water and am at home in the water. I certainly understand the safety principle around SCUBA and the things you mentioned. I'm not overconfident, I have a respect for the water even though I am comfortable in that environment. Knowing the size of the tank is irrelevant... Knowing to keep an eye on your levels is the only thing that matters so you know you consumption rate and when to begin wrapping up your dive and being prepared for your decompression stop. My biggest risk was equipment failure I'd say.

  • @YouTube_user3333
    @YouTube_user3333 Рік тому +1

    Tank is 1.9 litre or 13 cu/ft. Unless your a certified scuba diver, forget it.
    Scuba tanks come in many size, so the term “regularly size tank” is BS. (3,5,7,9,10.5,12.2,15 and 18 litres tanks)
    The smaller filter isn’t quantity. For the price of the unit and compressor, you could have got open water certified and bought all the correct gear.

    this can be dangerous even in shallow water if you rise up to quickly. The air bubbles in your lungs can expand too fast if you rise to the surface too quickly. IMHO, you should be actively SCUBA certified even for this equipment.

    • @lasersailor4life

      Seriously, diving is not a “home hack” recreation. You’re dealing with legitimately dangerous activities, especially by yourself.

    • @Pscribbled
      @Pscribbled 2 роки тому +8

      He did mention that he was scuba certified from a long time ago. He also mentioned that his dive time was about 15 minutes so he probably knew he didn’t have to worry too much about decompression. So I don’t think the nitro bubble argument will go very far here. However, he’s diving solo which in my opinion is what should be critiqued if anything.

    • @bobmcelroy7289
      @bobmcelroy7289 2 роки тому +2

      Luapple, your are right, somewhat...we have treated aquarium divers for DCS who on a daily basis did just such dives as this. Theirs were more daily feedings, entertainment purposes, mostly 30 minute dives, at 10 to 40 feet. Their diving schedule got changed. Where I don't think Trip is in any danger of that, kids can be a slightly different case.

    • @YouTube_user3333
      @YouTube_user3333 Рік тому

      @@Pscribbled people have got the bends in those conditions before. You say decompression, but you don’t have to be in deco to get the bends or more commonly called DCS.

    • @pteppig
      @pteppig Рік тому +6

      Oh, nanny divers. At 15 min at max 20m, you won't accumulate enough nitrogen to get the bends - and it's totally safe unless you don't exhale while ascending.
      Get back to the classroom 🤣😃, you seem to have forgotten a LOT about diving.
