Mrs. Vreeland to me would have seemed the sort that I would like to have spoken to and known socially but i think i would have been horrified to work under her. Putting 2 or more persons with artistic/eccentric temperaments whether they are very much alike or different and who are probably used to getting there way in a professional capacity can be down right disastrous and I speak from experience.
....her genius was that she hired the best and the brightest and she would....smile....mine the ore so to speak...she loved style...and she loved manners ...and she loved glamour...and everyone would knock their socks off for her....now that she has been gone a few people have said some shady things about her but while she was living no one dared to fall out of favor with her....the stakes were too high....the woman DARED....and it always WORKED....they only got rid of her at VOGUE because she was too EXTRAVAGANT...and cost the magazine a FORTUNE.......it's not that she was incompetent....
I adored ms Vreeland. she made our lives fantastic and xtatic !
She was truly inclusive, she wanted everyone to enjoy fashion and take part in it. Unlike today's editors. I think they're on the outs...
