I've worked over 20 years for a large electrical union company, and you are the only one I've seen on UA-cam that knows what hell he's talking about. You are 💯 right on every topic 😂. Thank you for this. Just started my own shop I will be contacting you soon. 👍

As a federal Project Manager in the industry, I can confirm that his strategy on the RFI works very well!

I love your videos, but sometimes it had to implement the ideas especially here in Africa, how do I reach you for personal lecture?

I would be happy to help however, I’m not familiar with the market in Africa. I imagine it’s the same as typical construction sales but I’m not 100% sure.

I wanted to disagree. But recent experience got me thinking differently about trying to enter at a decent, if not full, price point. It's also a matter of being able to stick to your guns when you know you're worth more later. A real balance in being paid your value but not getting walked on over a period of years.

At the end of the day, your goal should be to be paid on value. The truth is if it’s a brand new client and you don’t know each other, to them you are just like everyone else. A commodity.
For example, if you’re bidding the Drywall scope, “all these 3 guys can hang and finish drywall“ or “ any of these three contractors can paint”.
But once they start a job with you, the intangibles are supervision, experience, technical expertise, crew sizes, crew, expertise, project management, paperwork, administration, do they change order me a lot or not, do they get me ahead of schedule or are they a nuisance to work with?
When I was on the GC side, these are the things that I would be concerned with. Anyone can hang drywall, but not everyone can run a job efficiently. And you just can’t say it you have to show them.
So instead of saying it, give them a good price so you can win the first job, and then they can marry you and want to use you over and over and over.

@@iambuilders there's also more discussion about homeowner projects. Which is my most recent background. I'll have to put some thought into residential to see where this can work - continuing to take jobs at break even was proving to be tiresome and unprofitable.
Many of your points remain salient for residential and give food for thought .
      Keep it up!

Oh this won’t work for residential homeowners. Because they don’t need to repeat business. This concept only works for a potential client that can lead to more work behind the first job.

Disagree!! Depends on the clients in fairness but a demonstration of the lowest cost of ownership (cost at the end of the project + evidence that you have achieved that outcome) will will you the work.
