dude no one i knew who was into king crimson EVER talked about this album. It's just fuckin' solid man, and surprisingly vast in scope. It's honestly a pretty good intro album to KC as well. I liked a bunch of their songs but never really a full LP til I heard this one.

It's actually taken from a live show in the netherlands, They just took out the audience and called it a studio track without telling anyone. Pretty Cool. This is the case with about half the songs on the album (including fracture, though fripp doubles his guitar later in the song). Plus providence from Red is done this way too.

Trio for me (or maybe because I need the tranquillity of the piece), but this is good too as is "Fracture" if you like the heavier side of the band.

Also Discipline, Beat and Three of a perfect pair. And also THRAK, ConstruKction of Light not so much, but closing with The Power to Believe. I like to think about King Crimson following these three trilogies with their own sounds, yet quite distinct from each other

Have loved this album since I was 16, Wetton is a huge influence on me, by 17 i had a bass and a band and still play Lament and We'll Let You Know from memory at least a few times in a year...but today was the first time I have heard Guts On The Side. Between that and Dr Diamond, I can see why the original LP didnt include such numbers. But its always fun to find a new Crimsnack hiding on some new rerelease. The lyrics remind me of Savoy Truffle...

@Showtimegocrazy I was unfortunately too young, and only discovered this band when it disbanded in 1974.
    I envy you enormously !
I saw Crimson 3 times since then. First was around 1982, in my hometown, Hamburg, still with Bill on the drums. Then 2 times here in Paris, in the 2010 years, when Fripp had decided to eview his or Crimson's back-Catalogue, means this and all the other records from the 1970ties.

The title always makes me think of that Monty Python sketch where "A Different Gestapo Officer" says "We'll let you know" to the nazi scientist and shoots him. Perhaps that's where the band got the title from?
