I've posted these flights in a different order from which they were performed. I wanted to show the power, stability, and handling with a Hobby-Grade TX first. This is so much better than the 400mm Warbirds. It's in a completely different class in my Opinion.

I'm absolutely having a blast with this plane.
I didn't think a 500mm would fly this well.
I too would like to see a lineup of larger, but still sub 250 gram, warbirds. I would think 650mm to 700 mm would be doable. Make them out of EPP, brushless, 3 cell, with a gyro that can be turned off.
I couldn't find a larger sub 250g P-51, so I bought the Volantex 750mm and am in the process of lightening it. With a 2S 300 mah battery and no landing gear, it will be close but looks possible.
I've got a long list of lightening mods I'm working my way through. It turns out the ESC was listed as 10 amps, but it's really 20 amps and 17 grams. I'm going to look for a lighter 12 amp ESC.

That 750mm P51 is a great flying warbird.
U need to try a a280
Something about that XK-A280 just looks off, for a scale 51, plus I got burned on the XK Rare Bear that has a goofy rudder glitch that renders it useless. Also, I wanted a bigger sub 250g plane, which is why I went with the Volantex 750mm, plus it was only $80 PNP on Banggood.
@@davescott9409 gonna tell u from first hand experience….get the a280 …I have it running with a 7x5 prop and 3s 450s and using the 2s 600s and 650s ….crazy lil plane

@@GroundControlRC u we’re saying on the flight test u didn’t have much elevator authority and wondered why u couldn’t put control horn on inside hole .
@@snauzze7007 That's true. I had the linkage on the elevator in the center hole during this flight.
I have since moved it to the innermost hole on the Elevator for more movement to have some Elevator in reserve.
I've already tuned this warbird and have it handling just the way I want.
I also published my setup on TinkerzLab once I had it all tuned.
I have more flights to post yet so you'll see it flying better.
This was just one of the flights before it was completely tuned.
You should check out the playlist as it has the setup and more flight videos as well as prop testing.
I don't put all of my linkages on the innermost hole if I already have all the movement I need in the control surface.
That just make it less smooth on the controls.
