I live in South Africa and the vegan milk (almond and soy milk) sold at our grocery stores actually have higher calcium per 100ml serving than the cow milk sold (even full cream milk)
@@viggo100 here too as well. They add vitamins into the milk so one might argue that plant-based milk has more nutritional value than cow milk because of this.
Just wanna add that consuming soymilk is super ethical since the soy needed to produce the milk is waaay less than the soy needed to produce cowmilk! Humans replacing their meat with soy would be a net positive because of the nutrients loss in the foodchain.
I like oat but soy is still my favorite. I get it's unpopular because of the meme but it just has a nice flavor. Either way I enjoyed the video, great research and presentation!
soy has a very special but satisfying taste. alpro has a greek "soygurt" and it's so good to eat with granola. but i've switched completely to oat-based alternatives, because i feel uncertain about the environmental and health effects. i haven't done enough research to "make a decision". but again, oats feel like a safe bet in every aspect. thank you, i really appreciate it!
@@viggo100 environmental? We only need a tiny fraction of the soy produced to feed humans, also it can fixate nitrogen on the soil! Quite unique among all grown plants Health: very rich in proteins, longevity linked to soybean and legumes consumption. You don't need soymilk to live. Agreed. But neither oatmilk
Every country is different, you can't generalise, there is ethical dairies in the UK , calf stays with the cow and all animals live out a natural life but the milk is an astronomical price,I think that farm is in Oxford, by supporting plant based milk your also supporting the meat and dairy industries, 50% of the almond crop feeds the dairy cows in CALIFORNIA. Its also a fallacy that crops are grown primarily for animals, use some logic, soya oil sells at over$ 1400 while soya meal retails at over $675,farmers in the UK get a £50 bonus for milling wheat, barley for alcohol production gets a bonus also so logically it makes no sense to target the feed market, the fact is the byproducts and what doesn't make the grade is feed to the animals. Nearly every byproducts from plant based diets are fed to the animals, there are new technologies starting to be fed to livestock to reduce methane, there is also increase in AD plants to produce electricity from slurry .you should also remember land is not the same every where, some land is only suitable for animals. If you compare Ireland to Belgium, Ireland uses about 400,000 t tonnes of artificial fertiliser compared to 1, 170,000 in Belgium, yet Ireland is 2.3 bigger than Belgium. You should check the methane plumes that NASO filmed from space,it hilighted the rice fields, fruit trees and gas lines the cattle areas didn't show up.just as a side note rice milk has the same impact on the environment as cows milk
Rice milk is gross and most plant milks are way less greenhouse gas producing than cows milk. 99%+ of cows are not ethical dairy farms so don’t kid yourself you support animal abuse if you drink cows milk
very well made video! the information is great put together :) thank you for this video☺️

that's intresting! i mean, why not add a bit more while you're at it? yeah, all the plant-based milks here are packed with vitamin d and b-12 as well

that's really sweet, thank you!
I did not get her video at all. It had nothing to do with the reality of farming at all
i felt a bit like that too. it was very confusing
Great video! Soooo, are you vegan (or at least plant-based)?
thank you! yes, rocking that vegan lifestyle (or i'm converting too). how about you?
