-------------- Places visited on this tour:
Vilamoura is unlike any other Portuguese city, its Portuguese charm having been replaced by the stunning perfection expected by the super rich who frequent the marina creating a sophisticated holiday atmosphere.
Started in 1965, Vilamoura has an area of 1600 hectares. The architectural project is developed around the marina, and includes hundreds of villas distributed throughout the residential area, and other developments dedicated almost exclusively to tourism. It has a golf academy and five golf courses, a casino, several nightclubs, a tennis club, a diving club, extensive beaches and dozens of 4 and 5 star hotels.
In the Vilamoura area are the Roman ruins of Cerro da Vila, where you can see a bathing complex and the mosaics of a house depicting fish.
During the day there are countless activities to practice such as: tennis, horse riding, sailing, windsurfing, jet-skiing, parasailing, boat trips, sport fishing, making the choice difficult.
Vilamoura Marina:
With 825 berths, Vilamoura Marina is the largest in Portugal.
After the entrance to the bar (which until now has never closed), there is a foreport protected by two breakwaters (the west breakwater with 660 m in length and the east breakwater with 430 m) which, through a small channel where the reception quay and the fuel station give access to the inner port. The marina provides various repair services (shipyard, electrical, engine and sail repair) and has a gantry crane (30 t), mobile crane (3 t), electric crane (1 t), ramp and tidal grid.
The marina is the main entertainment hub, not only for those arriving by boat, but for all those who spend their holidays in this area and come here in the late afternoon or evening to enjoy an ice cream or dinner. It is also the right place for shopping, with a wide variety from local handicraft stores to the most renowned international brands. And as for nightlife, there is no shortage of bars and clubs with the best DJs.
Vilamoura Casino
Located 290 km from Lisbon and 25 km from Faro International Airport, the Vilamoura Casino, in the heart of Algarve entertainment, is the meeting point for the most exciting nights in the Algarve with international shows, vibrant gaming rooms and a splendid nightclub.
Beaches:
Next to the eastern pier of the Marina, Praia de Vilamoura beach with a sand that extends to Quarteira, and on the other side, to the west, Praia da Falésia beach, which stretches for kilometers to only end in Olhos de Água, guarantee plenty of space to extend the towel and tanning in the sun. Not forgetting the excellent safety conditions and lots of fun for a few days of dreams by the sea.
Cerro da Vila Museum and Archaeological Station:
The tour through the ruins provides an immersive experience of a typical Roman maritime villa (1st century - 5th century AD), consisting of residential buildings with mosaics and luxurious fountains (domus), public and private bathhouses (cold and hot water pools, sauna, gymnasium, etc.), fish preparation factories (garum, liquamen, hallec, muria) and funerary monuments (columbaria, burial graves).

reminds of Mallorca
I don't know Mallorca but if Mallorca and Vilamoura are similar then I'm going to want to visit Mallorca. I'll put it in my plans. Thank you for your comment.
@@albertocarvalho1961 Mallorca is very beautiful. For an island, it is quite big and very developed (overdeveloped actually). I think you would like it! The thing I don´t like about Mallorca is that there is a lot xenophobia and also disrespect in the society. Ofcourse there are also nice people there, but the attitude is quite different than in Portugal. However, it is a stunningly beautiful island. Let me know if you have any questions about it. I lived there for quite a few years.
@@QueenBee-mk8xm Okay, I'm already interested in visiting Mallorca. I will take this into account in my plans for next year. Thanks.
Going there mid may- staying close by at a resort, going solo any tip for a solo traveler? And is the bus easy to use? Thinking going to do my own cooking some night is it easy getting grocery in the area?
Hello. I don't have any special tips for a solo traveler. There is a good bus system, easy to use. There are supermarkets in Vilamoura and in the city of Quarteira, which is close to Vilamoura, easily accessed by bus, there is a very good vegetable, fruit and fish market.
I hope you have a great stay in Vilamoura and enjoy Portugal and the extraordinary Portuguese people.
😎👌
Thank you for your comment.
I dont speak Portuguese lol is it easy enough to get buy only on english? ❤
Hello Paul, in Portugal there are always people who speak English and it is easy to communicate and buy whatever you want in any store. In Vilamoura I will say that in all stores you can buy in English. Good stay in Portugal. 😊
Thanks for the comment.
