HOW??? Did he get under it like that??? Did he fall over the frond then drive over himself while rolling it on its side? Anyone have any idea how you could get under like that?
Thanks for all the kind comments, folks. I'm sure you all would have done the same. Let me tell you, he was one tough dude to put up with the pain he was clearly enduring!
+OnTo1Wheel only criticism I would give you is to lift from the back tire. 1 he is closer to it so you won't have to lift as high to create enough space for him to slip out and 2. it is a hell of a lot lighter because the motor, steering assembly, rad etc all weigh well over a 150 lbs up front. Either way you got him out so adda boy.
Hats off to you buddy. Even if you wouldn't be able to help him out yourself, you did not hestitate to go take a look! We need more people like you in this world. I respect you, the both of you..
Wow! You are amazing! I worked there from Feb 2014 to Dec 2014 and I can't tell you how many times this EXACT scenario would happen. NEVER RIDE ALONE, and if you do, tell someone where you plan to ride! That's over 28 miles of trails to search if someone goes missing!! It's incredibly scary to think how long he could've been out there before you noticed him. In these situations it's always good to try to flag down another rider and have them ride down to the kiosk or find the closest employee to have them radio for help!!
your a good man for stopping and helping him. I got pinned by my quad when I flipped it and people just drove on by not helping me. I had to lift it off myself. I had a stroke because of it. I've been disabled for 32 years now
Great job and bless you for being there to save the man's life, what a scary situation. Typically with no cell phone service or radio it's a long process for recovery.
Brett Schoener Thanks for the kind words (all of you!!), but it really wasn't life saving. Plus, a couple more guys came by on the upper trail about 10 minutes after he was free*, and they wouldn't have missed him. And yes, in this area there is typically no cell phone service, but we were less than a 5 minute ride from paramedics. I typically ride with my cell phone, a first aid kit, and a good set of tools (none really needed on this day) * * they helped get the quad rolled back on its wheels, and back up to the trail (at which time it looked like it was about to roll again, and I was really stressing out that it looked like another rescue was about to be needed, and this guy didn't even have a helmet on during this!)
Damn, You're definitely right... If it pinned him down the wrong way, 5 minutes is more than enough to do some serious damage. You're a life saver man. Stay safe brother
Good on you man, its easy to say we would all do the same and you would truly hope we all would, but this was all you man, well done praise on here seems not to be enough, you are awesome fact.
+OnTo1Wheel Might want to pick up a membership for World's or Gold's. It would have made things tremendously easier. A solid deadlift form and you could have just picked the front end up. Good ingenuity with what you had, though.
That is my place to ride people are good about stoping and helping. I have had my atv roll over me there and broke two ankles. Thanks to the rider who stopped to help you did us all proud. : )
Paradigm Storytime He told me he threw it. Not sure if it was out of frustration, or trying to get attention, but it is what I saw first. I'm not sure I would have seen him otherwise
EvitalovesThings I haven't talked with the guy since this happened, not sure who he is. After 15 minutes or so, he seemed to recover fully, and he was thankful for the help in getting out.
+Firehot1975 Please feel free to post a link to this video on youtube, but please don't copy my video. Thanks again to all of you folks with kind comments, I do appreciate that. I hope this video helps to keep people aware that riding solo can be dangerous! Be careful out there! And if you find someone in need, do your best, whatever it may be.
Wow. Having a bad back is serious, very good thing you didn't hurt yourself. I'm in my mid 20s but I am an amputee and I'm not sure if I'd feel safe having to lift a heavy quad. I generally carry a recovery kit though, but yeah dang, tough situation for sure.
Thanks for the comments. After having broken two vertebrae (sledding accident) and having herniated the disks in my back a few times, I was pretty worried about injuring my back again with this lift, it was heavy! (I think I remember looking up this model of quad to be over 750lbs). Just a few days ago was the first time since then I came face to face with one of these big quads (a 700lb "tracker" on the showroom floor of a Cabelas store). I tried to lift the front end using the convenient front bumper standing on nice flat ground. Nope. Didn't budge. (I can't imagine anyone missing a limb lifting this thing, that would be beyond studly)
Couldn't you have rolled it back on its wheels? Im sure it would have had the ground clearance, to get off of him. But then again, Im sure it was hard to focus in that situation.
Accidents happen, goes to show you that on the trails we're all just out to help each other out. It also shows why you wear as much gear as you can possibly afford; no one wants an accident, but that is why they're named the way they are.
Wow, your amazing... that quad is about 501 lbs. (227kg). That's a incredible lift. Did you also call emergency services? Just a though, if you couldn't get him out there would be someone on spot in, 10 minutes? I don't know how accasible that place is.
You were meant to be there man, good job! I may as well sub you and watch you ride the Yz since its winter were I live and I cant! What year is your bike?
I once got separated from my brother on a trail..neither of us knew the area well and I knew he would not be able to find his way back.... I searched for 30 minutes for him while he searched for me... we were super lost... I ended up taking my helmet off and placing it in the center of a trail near where we got separated.... 30 minutes later I fly by and find him sitting with my helmet.... This guy had the same idea, but with a more impressive helmet placement
I did not grab the branches for a lever, he was supposed to wedge the branches under the ATV as I lifted it a few inches to relieve the pressure on him. He decided to just go for it as I lifted the thing a little bit.
I live in Evergreen and have wheeled Hollister SVRA a few times with my TJ. If you're ever up this way, shoot me a message on UA-cam. You have most definitely earned yourself a beer, brother. Cheers.
Me aconteceu algo semelhante hoje, mas foi na praia e a maré estava subindo e me afogando, não sei como mas sozinho consegui juntar toda minha força pra levantar o quadriciclo e desprender minha perna, estou até agora pensativo em como consegui escapar.
+Ben Nick After I struggled so much trying to lift this thing, I was very curious, too, so I did an online search the day after. I'm not sure what model this one was but I found models like the foutrax foreman 4x4 were over 600 lbs. So this one I assume was 500+ and I then felt a little less lame for not just picking it up and tossing it aside (I'm sure there are some folks that could do that. Too bad they weren't there)
Like someone else said ,you shouldn't go alone on a ride . These things happen even on a public roads ,once I seen on the news here in UK a biker was found dead after5 days after he went off the road .
Erwin925 That was pretty funny weren’t it?I was just a wee bit nervous and stressed out when I got up there…I guess that can happen when the un-trained are put in these kinds of situations!
I hope your excellent actions go viral. You very likely saved his life. Thanks for being awesome :)
Had to reshare this.
HOLY COW....THE RIGHT PLACE AT THE RIGHT TIME...! GREAT SAVE...! I HAVE BEEN PINNED A FEW TIMES MYSELF ! OLD CHAINSAWBOB
Perfect example why you NEVER go riding solo. Well play you saved him an filmed it.
HOW??? Did he get under it like that??? Did he fall over the frond then drive over himself while rolling it on its side? Anyone have any idea how you could get under like that?
Kakes676 Or you should take your mobile phone with you. Everytime.
Thanks for all the kind comments, folks. I'm sure you all would have done the same.

+footytang Yeah, might not want to call it "criticism" when he just saved a guy. "Tip" would have been more appropriate.
Johan Andrée want me to give you a little tip?
+OnTo1Wheel was?
+OnTo1Wheel for how long had been there waiting for someone to rescue him?
I thought for sure the guy's legs were broken! Thank goodness you were there to save him!
minitstop I thought for sure the guys was chopped in half when I got up there! Freaky moment, for sure
Wow. Good on you, man. I was on the edge of my seat rooting for you.
This is why it's best to ride with a bud when going off road. Man that guy got lucky!
+The Dutch Texan or why its best to not ride quads lol
I feel the urge to hug you guys. Incredible video.
thanks for kind thoughts
This is a great example of how we all should be. Alert and willing to help.
It's people like you that make me love our community. Good job hero.
Hats off to you buddy.

Right on it looked super hard but you didn't give up and you saved that mans life !
Awesome job helping a fellow rider! Shared so others can see your good example.
I'm so glad he's ok,good thing you were there, you saved this mans life. Hats off to you and God Speed on your recovery.
your a good man for stopping and helping him. I got pinned by my quad when I flipped it and people just drove on by not helping me. I had to lift it off myself. I had a stroke because of it. I've been disabled for 32 years now
Nice going, man. He was a lucky man that you saw his helmet and stopped.
1st Step: Call 911. Good Job man, You're a hero.
Thought the guy pinned was gonna say hey dude mind the camera! When he was throwing the branches down
Great job and bless you for being there to save the man's life, what a scary situation. Typically with no cell phone service or radio it's a long process for recovery.

Wow. Glad you were there, man. Good job.
He didn't paid you a beer for that ? :/
Great save! Those are the risks of riding alone, luckily for him you happened to come across his path!
Wow lucky ass man
This is one of the reasons why I don't like riding alone. kudos to you for your quick actions.
He is lucky that it wasn't someone with a pent up scat fetish finding him before you did.
+Hubert Applebaum HAHAAAHAHAAHAHHAHA
+Hubert Applebaum I like black humor when nothing serious happens. This guy surely saved him before some serious danger.
+Stvorjan Yea just imagine he he rolled onto a fire ant bed face first.
How doesnt this have 5 mil plus views?
saw this on 9gag... you sir, you are a legend :)
Helluva job man, and quick thinking with the sticks to pivot the ATV 👏🏼👏🏼
Well done sir.
Wow, I'm just now seeing this, man what a deal, good thing you came along!
You done good! needed a story with a happy ending !
Great save man. Don't ride alone. Last time I rode alone I tore my ACL and had to man up and ride back. Once again, great save
I want to buy you a beer. even tho its been almost 2 years and i am seeing it right now.
Good stuff right here, he is lucky you came along and noticed.
Good job man, glad there are people like you!
Awesome video!
Damn, You're definitely right... If it pinned him down the wrong way, 5 minutes is more than enough to do some serious damage. You're a life saver man. Stay safe brother
man you can be so proud of yourself. do you know if the man is alright now?
Good on you man, its easy to say we would all do the same and you would truly hope we all would, but this was all you man, well done praise on here seems not to be enough, you are awesome fact.
How much do you deadlift?
+Fzbr
haha, it's probably pretty clear that I don't lift weights. I don't even know exactly what a "deadlift" is.
+OnTo1Wheel no. Now you can tell people you can lift a quad ;D
+OnTo1Wheel Might want to pick up a membership for World's or Gold's. It would have made things tremendously easier. A solid deadlift form and you could have just picked the front end up. Good ingenuity with what you had, though.

I am wondering how the helmet got to the path. Did he throw it or roll it while he was stuck under the quad?
Paradigm Storytime He told me he threw it. Not sure if it was out of frustration, or trying to get attention, but it is what I saw first. I'm not sure I would have seen him otherwise
OnTo1Wheel That was a good throw then.
+OnTo1Wheel If he did that to alert passers-by, that was a really smart idea.
Did you keep contact with the guy? Did he have any injury? What did he say to you?
EvitalovesThings
I haven't talked with the guy since this happened, not sure who he is. After 15 minutes or so, he seemed to recover fully, and he was thankful for the help in getting out.
+OnTo1Wheel
Hmm.
I guess the world sometimes works in interesting ways like that.
+OnTo1Wheel Maybe it was the adrenaline; that he felt no pain. That's why after some accident paramedics always have to make sure nothing is wrong
Excellent work sir.
Great job !
Respect! Fast and sensibly.
thumbps up for you sir
Holy crap, imagine you had not rode by? Luckily you were there, good on you for helping.
Another reason to hate quads but love your bravery!!!
Now THAT'S a damned hero in the right place at the right time.
Hats off to YOU sir.
legend, good on your for helping another trail rider.
Good job bro!!!
good on you man, that's some scary stuff. but that guy is thanking his lucky stars you found him
Getting it up on a log or two was a good idea. But I do understand his need to get the heck out. I hope neither of you suffered lasting damage!
Heroic and Brave!
Can i post your video on other website with your name on it as credit? Not for Commercial Purposes. Thank you.
+Firehot1975
Please feel free to post a link to this video on youtube, but please don't copy my video.
Thanks again to all of you folks with kind comments, I do appreciate that.
I hope this video helps to keep people aware that riding solo can be dangerous! Be careful out there!

+OnTo1Wheel good. job
That was pretty cool a what would you do situation and a heroic vid that guy owes you a beer haha
@onto1wheel was he ok? was he injured? did he recover ok? are you two still friends? amazing story, well done! you saved his life!
Shit, man, that's lucky for him that you went by.
Nice going bro. Keep on doing what you are doing.
And so, an act of kindness shines on a weary world.
good job bro!!!

How far was he from civilization? Is that a popular trail or is it way out in the boonies?
Nice work! Rawk on!!
Great idea throwing your helmet on the trail

Didn't expect the guy in the video to be Barristan Selmy. What a bad ass.
Nice job, hero of the day !
I saw you grab some branches to make a lever, but then you didnt make a lever. What happened?
I did not grab the branches for a lever, he was supposed to wedge the branches under the ATV as I lifted it a few inches to relieve the pressure on him. He decided to just go for it as I lifted the thing a little bit.
Anything bad on that man who was stuck? legs seem to be fine

I live in hollister
Nice work!
Well done man!
Wait, i dont get how the helmet ended up on the track?????
+Tora Riders Either he lost it on the bail or , more likely, tossed it down to attract attention of anyone coming this way.
lucky throw
Could have been his life saving one as well!
yeah deffs!!!!!!!!
How the hell did he get into that position ?
Miskolak read the description
Guy was lucky his helmet came off and rolled down the hill.
Me aconteceu algo semelhante hoje, mas foi na praia e a maré estava subindo e me afogando, não sei como mas sozinho consegui juntar toda minha força pra levantar o quadriciclo e desprender minha perna, estou até agora pensativo em como consegui escapar.

On a scale of 1 to 10 that was a 20. Thank you sir,
That's a fucking hero.
HERO STATUS for sure.
Good stuff man :)
Good on ya mate - you did good.
Good job mate but people really need to start riding in groups look at what happened to the one guy. About a month or so ago
This guy is like Mumen Rider
+Aaron C but he actually did something
it's a good thing they didn't have quads back in the 1700s. Might not see someone for weeks.
Good job men!
Like someone else said ,you shouldn't go alone on a ride . These things happen even on a public roads ,once I seen on the news here in UK a biker was found dead after5 days after he went off the road .

I don't know about anyone else, but I found this shit fuking riveting.
Hero !
