It totally was the beginning of the end for Culture Club back then. Of course, their third album didn’t help, but it definitely caused Boy George to be played right into the hands of the Religious Right here.
I REMEMBER the Grammy speech and thought it was "no big deal", I mean WHEN was George NOT out, anyway? The roaring train of success that was Culture Club came grinding to a halt with the release of the "War Song"! "God, Thank You Woman" didn't help much either. I guess George had decided he "WASN'T going to write songs about Jon anymore". When he wrote about Jon, he wrote with "heart and soul" and had hit after hit!🎶🎶
@@BillieBailey-th3lc America and Canada didn’t even have “God Thank You Woman” as a single. We were given “Gusto Blusto” by their distributor record label here, Epic, instead. But by that time, Boy George was fully in the throes of heroin addiction and Culture Club became inactive. The “Gusto Blusto” single totally tanked here.
@@RocStarr913 I DO have memories of hearing "God Thank You Woman", could have been on TV don't really recall. Omygoodness! I was soooo in love with this man back in 7th and 8th grade…I wrote I want to meet, I want to meet George Alan O’Dowd thousands of times those two years and still love his essence! ❤
Class, elegant, humourous, humble, huge talent, hat & make-up... That's why I love him so much 😁💗. Will fly over to see this legend in Moulin Rouge. Have a great start ❤🍀

I been waiting for Jimmy Fallon to one day interview Boy George on the show and now it’s the first time seeing this OMG! 😍😱🤩.Boy George is one of my favorites of the 80s.
As a teenager in the 80s, I really liked Boy George and his music. Back then, I lived in a small judgmental town that had no clue about the importance of diversity nor the beauty of it so it helped me appreciate him then and now that much more. ❤ Madonna was a great teacher in this regard back then too. ❤❤
Jimmy, THANKS for having Boy George on, I've ALWAYS loved him, and it seems like a LOT of other people do too! Seeing him live again did my soul GOOD! Can you ALSO have another 80's favorite that I re-discovered a year ago, he's got a great sense of humor and I KNOW the two of you would hit it off! That would be BILLY IDOL! PLEASE, PLEASE!!😍😍😍🥰🥰🥰
I'm 42 now but my parents always used to tease me because when I was like 5 Boy George was my crush. Along with Billie Idol :) I still like guys that don't fit any boxes, nothing's changed :)

Back in 2010, he did a Mark Ronson song. It’s one of my favorite songs from the past twenty years ua-cam.com/video/EAZv7V4gkGs/v-deo.htmlsi=VB8aE7hnmim3Uiha
Boy George Carved the way; personality, looks, sound etc. You would have to been there when he dropped into the scene to know what it meant. We only have renderings now.
its really bad that you are no longer to say anything anymore even as a joke. nothing or nobody will ever stop me from speaking my mind. and it is going to repress kids when they get older to not be to speak their minds. what a sad world we now are living in and i am so glad that i am an adult now.
On 5 December 2008, Boy George was convicted in Snaresbrook Crown Court, London, of the April 2007 assault and false imprisonment of Audun Carlsen, a Norwegian model and male escort, who initially stood for a photography session with Boy George. Carlsen claimed that he had been handcuffed to a wall fixture and beaten with a metal chain during their next meeting, although Boy George has always maintained that only the handcuffing was true and that he never beat Carlsen. Defence counsel presented the effects of his long-term drug use as a mitigating factor. On 16 January 2009, Boy George was sentenced to 15 months' imprisonment for these offences. He was initially incarcerated at HM Prison Pentonville in London, but was then transferred to HM Prison Highpoint North in Suffolk. He was given early release after four months on 11 May 2009. He was required to wear an ankle monitor and submit to a curfew for the remainder of his sentence
Shut up and mind your business, I’m sure you made a lot of mistakes in your life, you are no angel, leave the man alone, at least he has a talent and entertains people with his music. And you are nothing just repeating the same stories everywhere blah blah blah
George served his time and paid his debt to society and should be allowed to work just like anyone else. He should also be allowed to move on without some idiot throwing his past in his face… George is an inspiration, and shows that no matter how bad you can get with addiction and how low your life can get you can always turn it around… he proves there’s hope for everyone who’s struggling with addiction……. Over 10yrs clean now.. Also the court case is public record, anyone can read it, there was no handcuffs, no chaining someone to a radiator, makes for good headlines though..!
Yep I remember that now but what matters is he moved on in a positive way. If it was a negative way then yeah people would keep bringing it up. He is likeable and did his time like many stars out there and normal people.
Shut up and mind your business, you are no angel, I’m sure you made a lot of mistakes in your life, who are you to judge him, you keep bringing back his past trying to ruin his reputation and career, leave the man alone, at least he has talent and keeps entraining people with his music.
