- Superman is kinda like the gold standard when it comes to superheroes, and cause of that, every comic book publisher has to create their own Superman Copycat. Some of them are good guys, some of them are bad guys, some of them are aliens, some of them are humans, regardless, it’s cause of Superman that they exist in the first place. And today, well we’re gonna go through the most popular of these Superman copycats, ranking them from weakest to strongest. So lets get into it!

I feel like Metro Man should be on this list, he has one of the best speed feats in any animated movie.

CORRECTION: Blue Marvel didn’t just ‘suddenly’ have powers out of no where. He was working on an antimatter project and his friend (Who became Anti-Man) got trapped in the antimatter device. It then exploded affecting both of them and THEN gave them supernatural powers and abilities.
BM also took on the Avengers all at once, K.O.’d Sentry with one punch that launched Sentry into space and through a satellite station, and defeated Anti-Man…all in a matter of hours. *(This is the 616 universe)*
And also him getting asked to step down happened in the 60's in the Jim crow Era, not at just some random time because he was a black guy.

Shazam is a God, 7 Gods actually. But Superman always sees him as Little Billy Batson, thats Superman's only weakness,his Humanity and Kindness.
Facts
If we're being realistic here, Shazam should be at least 1% more powerful than Superman because with all of the powers he has from the 7 Gods, He's actually Cracked. But because Superman is Superman, Shazam never really has access to the Wisdom of Solomon and instead always has the wisdom of Billy himself making Shazam out as a Man-child. In reality, Solomons Wisdom should always help him get the upper hand in a fight and always make him the smartest person in the room. Realistically, Superman should actually have a 40/60 chance at beating him but again, He's Superman so Shazam will always be extremely overlooked and downplayed to lose 99% of the time.

Blue Marvel ended up beating him after he knocked Sentry into orbit. So “easily?” Nope. And Blue Marvel took out King Hyperion with 3 blows after KH pissed him off. But DEFINITELY agree, Wonder Man would beat the brakes off Homelander. Homelander doesn’t belong on this list. Like they used to say even before Wonder Man leveled up, “his fists hit like Thor’s hammer.” Homelander would get rolled like a tumbleweed.

Shazam actually was more popular than Superman when he was created by Faucet Comics. DC even sued Faucet Comics to get them to stop the publishing the comic because they said he was a ripoff of Superman. He is an original hero with a different power set. DC even bought the rights to Shazam to make sure he did not become more popular than Superman. Now, you are better informed.

It's disrespectful to call SHAZAM aka Capitan Marvel, a Superman copycat. Fawcet comucs, when they'd created the character. He was outselling Superman. And. SHAZAM was flying before Superman. Plus. DC sued them and years later, ended up buying the character after all of that b.s. Apparently. DC saw the value and creativity that Fawcett had with him. SHAZAM is his own unique character. The SHAZAM acronym says it all.

Remember dc brought shazam because at that time shazam was outselling superman so DC brought shazam but they had to update him because if you don't use a character within a certain time you lose the rights to them simular with reboots but of course DC is gonna downplay shazam to make superman look good.

Ironic. DC wasn't paying due dilligance and all of Whiz wound up in the Public Domain(Black Adam might be an exception) . All of Charlton wound up in the Public Domain with the maybe exception of E-Man, because they really didn't pay much attention to copyright placement. They only were in the comic industry was to keep their presses running.
It's hard to believe even in comics that sentry got that freakin powerful just by drinking a concoction I can see maybe colossus type strength and quicksilver speed , but God like abilities, I bet captain America probably wishes he would've got the dose that sentry got.

Superman despite the hate and disrespect from DC he is the blueprint of modern superheroes, from his powers superheroes and villains were born. From his speed, The Flash,Quicksilver and various others speedsters were created, from his optic lasers, Cyclops was created, Ice Breath, Iceman, Killer Frost were created and from his strength and durability way too many to mention. Hate or love him he is still the greatest superhero of all time.

I'm curious if the clips for each character ever get updated...some of these same clips are still being used from like 4 or 5 years ago it seems.
Shazam is not a superman copy, nothing of his history, abilities, or skills are in anyway the same as Superman.
DC hated Captain Marvel/Shazam because he outsold Superman. And had a movie before Superman.
To the point DC took Kingdom come comics to court in order to sue them for copying. The judge ruled that DC does not have a monopoly on heros with strength, flight, and speed.
Since getting him, DC has made Captain Marvel a joke and it pisses me off.
Shazam was LITERALLY a ripoff of superman, published just 2 years after superman was created. DX sued fawcett comics over this FACT and WON their case... Forcing fawcett to shut down. Learn your comic book history. Amateur.

Blue Marvel for me, he's beaten Hyperion, even fought with the beyonder he literally an alpha level threat.....but gladiator and the sentry would be next up for me

Void Sentry is a plot device. Like cosmic armor superman. Never been able to take the 1000 flushing toilets hero seriously.
Why does no one ever throw Supreme on the list? Also id argue that by default Icon = Superman in DC and both Sentry and Blue Marvel equal the two in Marvel along with Hyperion and Gladiator. Manhunter should be on the list also.

Based on what's described here alone.... Kinda got the vibe that the Plutonian should be rated higher than The Gladiator. That said, neat list. Maybe there could be a Part 2, considering how many more Superman expies there are out there.

So the sentry is the strongest Superman copycat, and has to constantly hold back right? To keep the void from coming out right? I’m not an expert on him, but is he that powerful without the void taking over also? Because if so, I would like to see a world war hulk vs Superman comparison because he fought the sentry to a standstill, and powered up even more directly afterwards to the point he caused earthquakes with a step and was still intelligent. That’s the one storyline that gives hulk a fighting chance in the intelligence department, and allows him to showcase his wicked potential. Dude Solo’s the fantastic 4, almost the entire X men roster, outsmarted juggernaut, destroyed the inhumans, battered blackbolt, knocked ghost rider out and even the spirit of vengeance said this isn’t my fight and rode away. But Superman is faster or something is how that fight will go. An intelligent, super pissed off hulk like that would be a damn good fight for most Superman variations, but there’s always one where he snorts a line of pure unfiltered solar radiation off the core of the sun or something and becomes absolutely invincible 😂 sorry I’m still just pissed about how the mcu has disrespected hulk over and over again. I doubt he would be particularly powerful, but Ultimo of the Galactic Enforcers from the Ben 10 franchise. His kryptonite is chocolate, which is highly toxic to his species though was able to recover from a does that cussed him to collapse most of his skeletal muscle mass within 24 hours.

I still refuse to call Billy Batson “Shazam”. That’s the name of the ancient wizard who gave Billy his powers. To me, he’ll always be Captain Marvel. DC was foolish to abandon the name.

Wonderman, Wonder Woman, Bizarro, Martian Manhunter, Supreme (Image Comics) are yet more 'Superman' archetype characters.
If you put Shazam in here, I'd also put Captain Marvel in.
But apart from that I'd also put Vision in.
He has Superspeed/Superstrength, can phase, is made of vibranium, can shoot laserbeams, can lift mijolnir and in the What If Version he even destroys whole Universes with the Infinity Stones.
Vision isnt even in the same category as these characters.
