DOUBT: As you said that in FPTP, only the party which got maximum number of votes wins even if they have not got 50% of total votes. Then after 1989 , how did coalition government form in FPTP system if only one party wins and the rest lost?
because to form the government its important to have more than 50% seats in lok sabha that is more than 272 seats because in 1989 elections bjp won less than 50 % seats that's why it formed a coalition government. hope it's clear to you now

As you said that in FPTP, only the party which got maximum number of votes wins even if they have not got 50% of total votes. Then after 1989 , how did coalition government form in FPTP system if only one party wins and the rest lost?
