You are servicing one of my favorite Daiwa silver series reels. I added a second bearing in my two 500C, 70oC, and 1000C Daiwa silvers. When I first saw a 500C I was amazed at the quality of the construction even though the reel is quite small. The bushing on the side plate side of the main gear can easily be replaced with a bearing. The same size bearing will work for a second bearing in the 700C and 1000C. It makes these reels even better and the bearings don’t cost that much. The 9000C is the largest silver series reel but the 7000C is the only silver with three ball bearings. It is one of my favorite surf reels as I have four of them. Great video Dennis. I’m very glad you did a video on this reel. - Chris

Thanks Dennis, it is a neat, LITTLE reel, I have one spooled with 4# test on a 5 ft. noodle rod, I'll throw topwater for bass, and wait for the blow-up! so much fun!, and I'll even loosen the drag after hookup for more drama. Andrew can get a used screw on E-bay( if he wants to) I've bought OEM used Daiwa screws before for cheap, and that little reel still holds its value on E-bay more than its larger cousins! Go figure.

Thanks for the advice to Andrew. Yes - that set up of yours would make for a great experience. Dennis

Hi Dennis. Love your videos. I imagine you're concerned about them being too long, and this might be why you cut out some of the time when you're struggling with something, but I, for one, would appreciate seeing all that you go through, because that will likely be what would happen to me!

My Abu 100 cardinal spinning reel drag clicker was working fine. I serviced the reel , now it doesn't click. Everything inside the spool is there and functioning. Do you have any thoughts?

Most of the rear drag fishing reels have the click mechanism in the rear drag cap at the bottom of the reel and not in the spool. I would check that assembly to make sure that the parts are installed correctly. Dennis

@@2ndChanceTackle This reel has drag washers in the spool and everything for the drag clicker is there and in place, but not clicking. Was working before I serviced it. Don't understand what could be wrong. Thought you mite have an idea.

I thought this was a rear drag reel. If it is top drag , then there should be a click tongue and spring under the spool that would intersect with the click ratchet on the shaft. Either the tongue spring is not connected or the toungue is trapped on top of the ratchet. If it is trapped, loosen the top adjuster button and turn the spool counterclockwise, while applying pressure from the top. That should seat the click tongue properly

I have a Daiwa 2600C reel and can't remove the sideplate to clean and lubricate it. Can you advise me? Thank you

I assume that you can get the screws out and that the side plate is still stuck. The issue would be with the bearing on the main gear. It is likely frozen to the gear shaft and that will not allow it to pull away from the housing. My advice is to soak that bearing and gear at the side plate entrance with a penetrating oil or rust buster agent and let it sit overnight. Next try moving the side plate side to side to see if it has freed up. You can then insert a series of levers on opposite side of the housing at 3 and 9 O'clock positions. Start with a small, thin lever like the blade of a utility knife and lever each up to try and pry it off. As you gain separation, increase the width of the lever to a small screwdriver blade and continue until it is off. Keep using the penetrating oil and increasing the width of the levers until you fully walk the case up and off of the reel - Dennis

Just want to get back to let you know. I followed your advice and did exactly as you said and got the cover plate off. Cleaned it up and it works great. I have a broken plastic handle that prevented me from putting it in the antireverse mode . I soaked the lever and finally got it to move. Now the click and the antireverse mode work well. It's just like new. I've had this reel for more than 50years. Great real , the 2600c. Thanks for your help.
