this is a lovely song , ive listened to everything from punk to classical , have a listen to twilight time by the platters if you havent heard it , with the headphones on and youre eyes shut some voice .
My 22 year old grandson has recommended this to his 87 year old grandfather, I know the song from years ago. But this version really touches a chord in me. Kind regards to all her fans. March, 2023.
You have a cool grandson. I just discovered this version today and I love it. I hope he played you other versions of the song from Glenn Miller to Linda Rondstadt. Kind regards back to you.
Not to be cocky but listening to hits such as this reminds me of how iconic our music and culture is on a global level.Kudos to one of our most prolific and understated stars🙏❤️🇯🇲🇯🇲🇯🇲🇯🇲Thank. you Ms Dylon
For sure, there is no small country that has made such a BIG impact in the musical world... Reggae music is truly international, despite its obscured/misrepresented origins... Whatever kind of music was sang by King David and King Solomon, it was probably closer to Reggae then it was to the horrible crap that horrible people love to consume nowadays.
PHYLLIS DILLON AND I ARE FROM THE SAME HOME TOWN. PERFIDIA IS ONE OF MY FAVOURITE SONG OF ALL TIME, I REMEMBER AT MY DAUGHTER WEDDING REPCEPTION, I PUT PERFIDIA ON THE LIST TO BE PLAY, WHEN PERFIDIA WAS PLAYING, EVERYONE WAS DANCING TO THE GREAT PHYLLIS DILLON ROCKSTEADY, EVEN MY MEXICAN FRIENDS WAS GETTING IN THE GROOVE, THEY WAS SHOUTING REWIND , REWIND , OH WHAT GREAT SONG , GIVE CREDIT TO THE GREAT PHYLLIS DILLON, MAY HER SOUL R.I.P

PHYLLIS DILLON one of the great singing SENSATION of her time and was highly respected by all entertainer and had a huge influence on singer's that followed, she also had all of JAMAICA and other places falling in love with her beautiful enchanting voice, she was NEVER underrated at anytime, What I can say to many, in those day's don't CARE how good or great she or he was, when it comes the main stream media BLACK MUSIC HARDLY GET ANY ATTENTION ESPECIALLY SKA, ROCKSTEADY, REGGAE, THAT'S WHY WE HAVE TO RESPECT THESES FOUNDATION ICONS SINGERS LIKE DESMOND DEKKER AND THE ACES, JIMMY CLIFF, MILLE SMALL SKATALITES, PRINCE BUSTER, THE PIONEERS, THE EARLY GREATS THAT PAVED THE WAY FOR ALL THAT FOLLOWS, RIEP TO THOSE WHO HAVE GONE , THE BLACKSTONES
It's 1:24 AM, I'm sitting at my computer with my chocolate lab at my side. We can't sleep so we're reading Twitter to see if any of my friends in Europe are awake yet. I haven't heard this song in many years. It is so beautiful and brings back many memories. I'm going to get a cup of decaf coffee and hope to go back to sleep for awhile. Thank you for reminding me of a time long passed.
This is what I meant when said that a whole generation has passed who never heard of these artists and music: thank god that I was around in those times.
This song is one of the few that defines humanity. It transcends things like time and culture in a way that is wholly independent. There are so many beautiful versions of it that no one can claim it as their own.
Perfect song... Pride of Chiapas (Mexico) is the author, Alberto Domínguez, originally from San Cristóbal de Las Casas where there is an auditorium with his name.
He also wrote the huge hit "Frenesi" in the same year he wrote "Perfidia." Artie Shaw recorded Frenesi in 1939-40. Loved it as a kid in the 1960s. Incidentally, Frenesi was arranged for Shaw by William Grant Still, the great African-American classical composer (moonlighting?).

I was reading Miss Pat Chinn's auto, where she also showcased the people she worked with and curious of how she sounded, I came here and I got hooked to a sister. What a beautiful voice. Jamaica gave the world some great singers. Really the Caribbean has.
It's so hard to listen this when you know you where the perfidious one. Lessons and more lessons. Love this melody in both this and Nat King Cole's version.
And Rocksteady it will be once more, even though it is quite speedy, almost Ska tempo, this time … guided by that heavenly soul-voice of Phyllis! Her voice is something special, hard to describe. It has the vulnerability of an innocent child in it, the clarity of a cloudless sky, a high level of openness to whatever experience may bring; whatever vistas may be disclosed. It’s almost terrifying in its fragility, with a translucent body … like bone china … thin, seemingly brittle and yet strong. I want to keep listening to it and once finished, it feels like saying good-bye to a good friend who will emigrate to the other side of the world … 😣
The 1st ver. of Perfidia I'd ever heard was a surf instrumental ver. by The Ventures. I absolutely fell in love with Phyllis Dillon's ver. when I heard it.
Such a wonderful voice. I was going to make myself a Phyllis Dillon Tshirt but there only seem to be 4 photographs of her in existence. A Google search gives you the usual 3 or 4 photos, then photos of Marcia Griffiths, Marcia Aitken, Susan Cadogan all labelled as Phyllis Dillon. Cheers Google. What a fool I would have looked with a Tshirt of Marcia Griffiths saying Phyllis Dillon. RIP Sweet Daddy URoy
How did you go on with your classic T-shirt ? One idea you've probably already thought of is to buy an official (just so you know it's definitely her) vinyl album of hers ( if you've no turntable sell it on asap LOL ! ) - and make a high quality photocopy etc etc
Superb.
Phyllis Dillon was a very very talented lady very underrated.
I love this Rocksteady version of Perfidia.. ❤.
Very true
Listen, why do you clowns keep coming with this underrated crap??? Who underrated her?
This has been my favorite song forever and people never get it. If you're listening, YOU GET IT!
Minha música eterna.

Her voice is like a crystal scattering the sunlight.
That is a beautiful statement.
Totalmente verdade concordo.
Wow
Wow, beautiful description... very complimentary
The epitomy of Jamican Reggae talent. The velvet voice of effortless melody. The true essence of pure bred talent.
She was good. I once asked how high could she go and she belted out Pattie LaBelle's "Down the Isle" effortlessly and then laughed at me.
Not to be cocky but listening to hits such as this reminds me of how iconic our music and culture is on a global level.Kudos to one of our most prolific and understated stars🙏❤️🇯🇲🇯🇲🇯🇲🇯🇲Thank. you Ms Dylon
You should be proud - (and I would be, if I were you ) of your music - it's always fresh, somehow.

Too much push talk, dig the tunes
I was introduced to Jamaican music through Ub40 and Two Tone but it lead me to find the originals.

When did she die? Was this an original Jamaican written song or was it a cover?
It’s a cover lots of people have done it but this is the first version I’ve heard and by far the best 👍
First time I've heard this. What a beauty

Lyrics:
To you, my heart cries out Perfidia
For I found you, the love my life
In somebody else's arms
Your eyes, are echoing Perfidia
Forgetful of the promise of love
You're shared another's charms
With a sad lament my dreams
Are faded like a broken melody
While the Gods of love look down and laugh
At what romantic fools, we mortals be
And now, I know my love was not for you
And so I'll take it back with a sigh
Perfidia's one goodbye
Sock it to me, baby
With a sad lament my dreams
Have faded like a broken melody
While the Gods of love look down and laugh
At what romantic fools, we mortals be
And now, I know my love was not for you
And so I'll take it back with a sigh
Perfidia's one goodbye
Goodbye, goodbye
Goodbye, goodbye
Goodbye, goodbye
