I knew J.D. when he was only 15 and blowing the roof off of bars and clubs in the Phoenix area. At only 15 years old he was playing tunes by Hendrix and Stevie Ray with the same electrifying power as Jimi and Stevie. His musical style has evolved since then of course. His live performances of Texas Flood were absolute dynamite. He deserves the same fame and attention given to all the overrated pop stars today.
This dude is an awesome guitar player and such a sweet person. I really like the era and the genre he is into however this genre (70's power trio acid rock or whatever the hell that is) also sets an obstacle for the guy himself. His song writing is not that evolved yet and he writes blues oriented riffs (which is more than ok in my book, that was what the other guys did too) but fails to turn them into songs. Instead he tries to fill the void with his guitar playing, since he is really good at it he manages to get away. When you listen to Mountain, Cream, Leaf Hound, Budgie, Cactus and all those bands you come across some really great songs and song ideas which are sometimes executed poorly (the guys were way too high to play) but it is also very fun and exiting to listen to those guys fail at trying something remarkable. Simo is playing it way too safe and even though he does all those "noise" and "outside playing" he still holds a lot of himself back and doesn't get fully exposed as a musician and a person. He should try to write songs and not be afraid to fail. He shouldn't hide behind his guitar playing and shape his music around that core. The guy has such a huge potential and grasp of music and I really want to listen to his album and say "yeah, oh fuckin' yeah" with a stupid grin on my face. I need this JD, come on!

JD played our wedding reception with the Don Kelly Band....he continues to evolve....a special kind of talent.
VERY cool to have those guys at your wedding. I saw JD at Robert’s Western World during his stint with Don. It was clear he has something ‘extra’.

A start could never
Pure genius ! Great creativity a la Jimmy Page and Intensity a la Jonny Lang. Pure music.
