They are completementary. Personally, I'd I had to choose I would go with mat. I like the sensation having nothing to rely on than your own body.
I think they're complementary too. If I had to choose I would go with mat because it's more practical. I love that you can do it pretty much anywhere. 😁
Just tried the reformer. I love it.
Excellent! So happy to hear you love it.
I recently started pilates.
I was used to strength training but got lazy, now i am getting back into fitness and started doing pilates. I combine it with walks as well. So its pilates+walking everyday. How much is pilates going to help me with my muscles? As in will it help me improve my muscles strength?
I'm so happy to hear that you're getting back to fitness, good for you 🤩
I just went for a two hour walk this morning and will be teaching my Pilates class this afternoon so I totally get the walking and Pilates combo.
I love it! ❤️
Pilates will help improve your muscle strength. It will tone and define your muscles. It will not bulk you up like strength training can.
Does that answer your question?
Congrats again on getting back into fitness 🥳
So with Pilates will this help with muscles and going into old age? And does this mean I need to keep my protein intake high like when I weight train? Thank you
Hi @alishapatal2282
Good to hear from you! To answer your questions...
Pilates helps with your muscles' strength and flexibility. It improves your joints' mobility and stability and helps with your overall balance and posture. 💪
As far as the protein goes. I have no idea, I'm not a nutritionist. I do like my protein though 😉
Hope this helps. Anything else you want to ask?

@@yogaandpilateswithcassidy hi Cassidy, thank you so much for taking the time to reply it’s really appreciated. This is useful information!!!
@alishapatel2282 My pleasure. Wishing you a wonderful day. Be well! 💕
Can I gain weight doing Pilates ? I under weight and doing weights to bulk a little and get my butt back 😳
Usually one does not gain weight doing Pilates. Pilates is generally for toning muscles, not bulking up.
@@yogaandpilateswithcassidy thanks
@@patriciahernandez5917 My pleasure
If you want to gain weight, lift weights!
You can gain fat mass while training for a marathon. You just have to eat more than you burn in a day. Know your basal metabolic number and how much activity you do a day. Weigh daily. And know if you are going for hypertrophy, which is more weight training, or fat mass.
Thankful. Sound information without all the super annoying giggly yuck yuck on so many other videoes.
Thanks for your kind words; I appreciate it and I'm happy you got some solid information from the video. 👍
Reformer classes are 25$ a pop! No way - I
Make over 100k a year but ummm that’s insane
Yeah, reformer classes aren't cheap. They're even more expensive where I live. Pilates mat is great alternative and very challenging.
$25 would be a deal for me! Around my area they are $40+ per class.
@@mialovestravel Wow. Unfortunately that does not surprise me. Cost of goods and services is increasing in every industry.
Many gyms have packages of a certain # of classes for a set monthly fee or you can buy your own reformer once your familiar with the exercises.
@@leslielucci3182 that is true
Rich Pilates vs being to broke pilates.
There definitely is a cost difference 😉
Even though I am lucky to have access to both, I find myself gravitating more towards the mat work these days. 🙂
I think the reformer is too easy
I've heard other people say that too, you're not the only one who thinks so.
