- From 1968 to 2019 , The Jaguar XJ served as the flagship model of the jaguar brand. In today’s episode of the roadtrip, we sampled one of this models to a little known destination some few kilometres west of Nairobi city.

Fun Fact: Jaguar (from Jaguar Land Rover) is owned by Tata Group, while Magadi Soda Company, is under Tata Chemicals, all under the Tata Group of Companies. So driving to Lake Magadi with a Jaguar was quite a unique setting.

1. Never stop for those guys (guides) to tell you anything. Even when flagged down. They are just a nuisance
2. Park at the lakeside just before the barrier and enjoy the view. No one will force you to pay anything.
3. Don't bother crossing into the Magadi town, there's nothing to see there
4. If you have 4x4, drive to Kirimatian.

Ole Toikan never entered secondary school but his language convinces.. I once worked as a guard at the Checkpoint, those men gave us hard times getting visitors to the club. Wueh,, Anyway it was nice being in Magadi for 2yrs.. Some other time you think of going back there, kindly tag me along🤝

The hay is for the maasai's cows their is very bad drought in kajiado. So this is how we drive on that narrow road. When you feel the oncoming vehicle is taking up to much space you indicate to their direction to make room for you. Hope this helps someone. Great content.

The road was build purpose for the Magadi company, Trailers used to carry goods from the company to Nairobi or Mombasa(not quite sure), until they built rail a few years ago now the goods are transported by rail.

Next time anyone drives down to magadi just ignore those locals & head straight to the checkpoint. You don't need a 'tour guide' to tour magadi

The magadi rd route has Olepolos resort and another better one (both on your right) the last time I checked. Mnawekesha food as you pass and return kudishi because they don't have precooked food. Drove down there and the road is kinda narrow. The drivers especially the massais with pro boxes keep indicating right when there is an oncoming car to alert you to move away from the middle

Nice one. I've been to the Magadi factory too and back then I found the trip quite tedious but a good experience nevertheless. The only negative I can point out in the trip is the tone of those Maasai "guides"- I would have easily lost my temper if they forced me to follow them like that. I think the authorities need to do something about it.
It's an equal to being impossible. I was once an enforcer there.. The authorities gave up long ago. They can just say "Tuko kwetu"
