Performed this fix on my 2020 Volvo XC60 T5 momentum with a $30 part. Worked like a charm! Squeling gone instatly! To reset the engine maintenance light, disconnect the negative (black) battery lead for about 15 min to reset the computer. The light was on for a day after the repair, then went off! Saved $100s be doing it myself! Thank you!
Glad to hear. I'm curious how long the aftermarket valve you got will last. I had bad experiences with them in the past and haven't tried them recently. Wonder if they're better. Been sticking to OEM because don't want customers coming back with complaints.
My 2015 Volvo S60 is having the same symptoms (engine squeal, idle surging) with check engine light on. I went to AutoZone for diagnostics and they gave me a report with codes P0171 (system too lean Bank 1) and P0507 (idle Air control system RPM higher than expected). Does this mean that the PCV has failed?
Its an oil trap, sits on top of the valve cover. Sorry I didnt provide the OEM part number. But I found this on Amazon, seems to be the correct part. Keep in mind this is for the T5 with a 2.0L motor. www.amazon.com/NOVAPARTS-2014-2021-Cylinder-32140004-32242753/dp/B09NDH3KK6
@@toileonard6032 For the AC before spending more money what you want to do ideally is get gauges that can read both high side and low side. See what readings you get with AC on and go from there. Could be failed Expansion Valve, Compressor, clogged receiver dryer, or even your temp blend door inside vehicle stuck in hot position.
They got a lot of names for it. Don't remember exact name Volvo uses. But say you want the pcv valve or oil trap that bolts to the top of the valve cover. There is another pcv check valve which I think I showed in the video too, but the main thing you want is right on top there.
Its not a good thing long term because of the stress it puts on the seals. Its pretty easy to change yourself too. Ideally the sooner you get it done the better.

I cant remember if the threads were 6mm or 8mm. Probably 6mm. So about 15 ft lbs. Same torque you would put on a valve cover with 6mm bolts for almost any engine. I don't use torque wrench on most stuff and i doubt I'll find the specific specs in my manuals thanks to the lack of info provided by Volvo to the aftermarket.
Hahaha. Not my car. Fixing for a good customer. My opinion is never buy this vehicle as well as everything Volvo. Last good Volvo I worked on was pre over engineering crap. That was a 1997 S70.
Might be similar but doubt its exactly the same. Different setup on yours. I believe pcv is under the intake manifold and just below the throttle body on your car. I've never had one of those failed make this kind of noise. You've probably got something going on in the serpentine belt area. Need to remove the belt and inspect all the pulleys. Also make sure proper tension. Power steering leak could cause a somewhat similar noise as well. Timing belt components not likely but also possible. Without myself seeing the car I can't say anything for sure.

Thank you so much. My 2016 V60 was doing same thing. It helped me pinpoint the issue and looking forward to fixing it when I get the parts.

This is exactly what mine is doing. Thanks for the help.

Hi, this video was great! What's that piece called so I can check the price for it?

PCV valve, or oil separator. I'd have to hunt down the part number later.
