    Super Useful, Shane. I had also tried the connector to no avail. It does such that the documentation for so many of the connectors lacks examples to better illustrate their use.

    Hi Shane, thanks for the great video! in my use case, I do not require the users to open the app as they just need to be alerted. And when I tried this, after the message was successfully received and read. it is Gone. I cannot find this message anywhere in the app. I guess that is how it designed? What would you recommend to keep a message log, perhaps build another app for it? Thank you

    Hey there Shane. Thanks for another excellent tutorial. Question: what is the format we should be using to send notifications to multiple recipients? In my tests, I was concatenating my email addresses with semicolons, but Flow is complaining that the value "is not a recognized email". If I look at the run history, Recipients *seems* to be a table, with an open bracket [, my string of email addresses with an opening double quote, items separated by semicolons, a closing double quote and finally the closing bracket. Any thoughts? :)

    • @gepitoandron8611
      @gepitoandron8611 5 місяців тому +1

      For anyone else having the same issue, my solution was to use Power Automate to create the properly formatted table for me. I sent my semicolon separated string of all my recipients to the flow and dropped them into a string variable. I then used Compose to split the names on the semicolon: split(variables('myRecipients'),';') . Finally, I passed the output from the compose into the Recipients field in the Send push notification step. Note: you'll need to remove the already present brackets in the Recipients section as the compose step creates the complete table with brackets for you.

    Hello Shane - first of all - i love your videos, i learned so much over the years! I have a problem with notifications when I export the app as a managed solution via a pipeline. Because the notification accesses the app ID and this is of course not available in the other new environment (with the managed solution). Do you have a solution for this?

    All of this is working fantastically except the push notification is not deep-linking to the detail record. I know what the URL needs to look like for the deep link to work - and it works if I manually enter the URL + parameter in a browser. The parameter string that needs to be added to the URL of the app is ?LeadID=9999. What needs to be passed from the Power App to flow for the parameter (I'm sending "LeadID=9999") and what does the param string need to look like in the Power Automate flow?

    • @Morlyst
      @Morlyst 5 місяців тому

      I dont see the need for captcha in powerapps, since your users already are authenticated. If you however have a use for it, i would try looking for a captcha api. Trigger a flow from your app when you need the captcha save the image and the real text to a sharepointlist that gets cleaned every day, return the id of the sharepoint row from the flow in a variable. In the app, when a variable has a value, show the image in a controller, and a text input. When pressing the submit button, have a new flow checking if the submitted text is equal to the text stored in your sharepoint list.
      Its a special case, but this could be a workaround. This approach will require premium licenses for your users. I would try asking gpt4 for a more detailed/alternate approach.

    It's insaane to me how most Microsoft UA-camrs talk to their audience like kids. 'Kevin Cookie co' and this 'buddy' stuff. Do you not realize your audience might be adults? Looking for BUSINESS solutions? Therefore either owners or professionals? Why are there so few content creators showing practical examples that more accurately represents a real life use case for your audience?

    • @ShanesCows
      @ShanesCows  5 місяців тому +12

      Happy to give you an honest answer on this. There are several reasons and below is way more detail than you ever dreamed you would get.
      1 - Technology is boring so most good professional trainers try to make it more interesting with personality and fun demos. Kevin uses Cookies because most people like cookies and they give you a warm, happy feeling. I do the same thing but with Dogs. There are a lot of comments across the channel talking about how much they love seeing Buddy.
      2 - Being overly specific tends to backfire. If I do a demo showing a timesheet to teach a concept unrelated to timesheets there is a decent amount of people who will get hung up on the timesheet portion. They will say things like your timesheet only showed straight time and overtime we also have double time. And then they can't follow the example to learn the code, even though the timesheet was just filler the real point was the code. So by making it about something like Buddy's Dog Food inventory I can teach the code and no one gets confused by the kibble vs. chicken ratio column, they just learn the code.
      3 - I do cover specific business cases when appropriate. Asset Management Barcode App ua-cam.com/video/1rlPduDP_Ew/v-deo.html Manage inventory check in and out ua-cam.com/video/HTY8AnMz5rw/v-deo.html Data archiving ua-cam.com/video/LzzQr01wlDU/v-deo.html Work Order app ua-cam.com/video/fu8OEbD7YqQ/v-deo.html
      4 - I am over 400 videos at this point and 21 Million views. Sometimes the creativity is not there. In the case of this video I wanted to show how to use the send notification v2 action and that was it. Making the video as short as possible because people don't want long videos all of the time, sometimes they just want to learn a thing and leave. So sending a notification with a simple message was the fastest way to get the light bulb to come on.
      5 - Using interesting content is a sign of a professional trainer. I can't speak for Kevin but for me I have been teaching technology since 2004. I have literally taught 10s of thousands of people in person between conference, events, and in the classroom. I have even taught at University. Everything that I do, like using Buddy as my muse, or when I do silly demos, is on purpose. That purpose? To create the optimal learning situation for the most amount of people. For some people, they prefer boring, and that is okay there are plenty of those people on UA-cam. I personally approach making UA-cam the same way I do creating training content. I think of viewers as students and think about how they will learn the topic best.
      I hope this helps you with your question.

      Why would you want to watch the most boring useless videos on UA-cam that teach you absolutely nothing and long drawn out drivel? Shane has such a fun way of teaching this stuff that it sticks and stays in your head. Then I use his training material to make MY professional apps not someone else's. All Shanes stuff is useful and doesn't;t matter how he does it and the words and pictures he uses. Just change those words and pictures to what suits your needs.
