His fellow sailors took over his watch that fateful day. Back then, a birth certificate was not required, and if he wrote 18 on his paperwork, the Navy would not have questioned it. As you said, many who were younger than 18 joined up because they loved their country and wanted to fight for her. Rest in peace, Matthew.
Wow, the time machine you did at the end is so real. I can almost feel their presence. Such a young boy and so sad. They seemed to have no vetting whatsoever in those early days. Kids who should be out socializing with their friends are out shooting guns instead. RIP to Matthew. He was braver than many adults.
Bless you Ron for so honoring this very young Navy man. I am sure God wraps him in His love. And may God continue to bless his bereaved parents. Ron, your dropping to your knee in honorific prayer had me weeping. And the slow fade in of the gathered people gave me genuine chills. He was a young man who deserved to be well remembered. During WW II, my father-in-law joined the Navy at 15. My father was in the Army-Air Force by 24. Both fought in the Pacific.
My boys are in their 30's..This brave young man was a baby to me and I could not have let him go, being a mother and to have this happen would have undone me. Life would surely have been over for me. Rest in the peace the Lord gives to all our dear Matthew.
Hi Ron! I am so thankful that I found your channel last year. I know that it was meant to be - to prepare me for my husbands death. I lost my husband on December 31, 2022, buried on Friday January 6, on my birthday. It's been so hard these past days, so hard. I wish it was a dream, buts it's not, he's gone. My heart aches. I'm so broken. Thank you so much Mr. Ron for your acts of mercy for our deceased.
I am sorry for your loss. Sending you prayers and a hug. I know grief is so heartbreaking , I have been going through it awhile now myself. I have had some devastating losses. We just learn to live with it. Please know you are in my thoughts and many prayers. Grief is torture. I know you are broken and your heart aches. I know. You are not forgotten. Please talk to family and grief counseling. Just take it day by day. We just take our grief day to day. Let your grief happen don't hold it back. If you feel like crying cry. If you don't feel like washing the dishes don’t .just do what you can ok. Hugs and forever prayers. Your grief is your own. Take it one step, at a time. ❤

What a tragic end to this young man's life. I loved that his crewmates did that memorial for him. It is quite impressive. May Seaman Matthew J. Duller and his family rest in peace. I loved the old photo time lapse at the end, so moving Ron.💖
My heart aches for that young life cut way too short and for his family and what they endured back then. Thank you for a touching tribute to this fallen hero, no matter how he died!!!
This is a great story on this young man's life. His life ended in such a horrific way. It was a great jester that his crew mates gave him a memorial in his honor. May he rest in peace.
You gave Matthew Duller a very nice send off, although I am now 80 I teared up when you knelt and the music played. My father in law from Ontario Canada Joined the Canadian Armed Forces to join the fight WW2, he lied to get in and was 15 then as well. I miss Richard Thomas Very much,,,,now I have one more to Mourne. Thank you very much it was a sad story. RIP Matthew Duller Brother in Arms.
I was holding it together through the whole video TILL your humbling tribute and stunning photograph at the end. If the sorrow and grief of every loved one of every soldier since the beginning of time could be weighed.... God Bless them all.
He must have been so excited to "see the world" back then, only to have his dreams shattered by a horrible end. Rest easy, young lad. Thank you for this beautiful tribute ❤️ to his memory. I had a family member who enlisted at 15, said they never discussed his age but recorded it as 17 although his birth date didn't match. It was war time, they needed men. He retired after 20+ years in service.
It is so sad to have lost a sailor who was only 15. He only wanted to serve his country with honor. The fact his shipmates together paid for his headstone and relieved this burden from his parents. Says what kind of young man he was. RIP MATTHEW AND THANK YOU FOR YOUR SERVICE. 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸 We salute you.
Great video Ron! Professionally done! The way you narrated this was just the way my parents would of told me. I detect an antiqued polish with a modern day literature! Your an excellent artist with words! Keep up the good work! We appreciate you in Arizona! Thank you!
So young, so horribly tragic. Thank you for telling his story. I love how you superimpose the photo of his loved ones at his grave. You gave him a very beautiful tribute.
This was so heart breaking. Mathew was like many that said they were older than what they were. For him to have the courage to step up and fight for his country as a child was so admirable of him.
