What Bulbs are in my Mk5 Ford Mondeo {standard} headlamp. A look at the bulbs inside a standard ford mondeo mk5 headlamp, and what kind of price they cost.
Hi Alan - Bought Axbeam S2 H7 bulbs (not arrived yet) Just had a conversation with a collegue who says I can't fit my LED bulbs (headlights) in my MK5 65 plate as it is an MOT failure to replace Halogen with LED bulbs unless car was LED when built. Is he confused or right?
when i made this video it was not an mot failure to fit led bulbs but dvsa has since changed the mot failure criteria and now it is an mot failure to fit led bulbs when they are not standard but it is not a police offence so what most people do is fit standard halogen bulbs for the mot test and then fit the led bulbs after the test
@@alan4x What about insurance being invalid ? If its an MOT failure and you have an accident/bump and its discovered you have LED bulbs then wouldn't they refuse to pay out for repairs ?
Hi Alan does my 65 reg Mondeo have seperate main beam and headlight or same bulb as I bought H7 S2 but main problem is main beam is useless and hardly any difference in brightness to headlight.
@@alan4x Yes - I looked and they're H15 !! Sods law!! I presumed it was same bulb as I thought my Mk4 used dual bulb for both jobs. Still have to take it off as side light bulb gone on off side and MOT due so.. Thanks.
Hi alan, ive got to change my headlight unit , i was told when i buy a new one i can use the motor off my old one on my new ine im guessing its the leveling motor , where in the unit it is locsted and how do i take it out thank u buddy
i see this too late, but any lights use zooming leens are pice of crap, its simple you have very narrow two streams of light in day looks "cool" but in night time hmmm? in the rain you need walking stick like for blind man,any HId any LED don't help but i see mondeo mk5 are land mine trap,i stay with my mk4
I have got a mark 4.5 with basic reflector headlights and they are absolute sh1te. Really terrible. Osram nightbreakers have made no difference and I have been considering trying the Osram 80w to see if it improves visibility at night aslong as Im not getting flashed for dazzling other drivers. The wiring is my main concern tho
Sadly I had had to replace the blinker bulb. In Australia I found the ONLY one was in Twiwan, 6 week delivery, and at $60!!!. Ford did not have any spare. I ended up soldering a group of orange LED's together as a fix.
alan i have MONDEO 4.5 2011 WHEN A TURN LEFT OR RIGHT THE TURNING LIGHTS WORK SOME TIMES AVE CHECKED THE BULBS AND FUSE IF IT COMES ON IT STAYS ON HELP
Hi Alan i have a Ford Mondeo Mk5 . My drivers side Hi beam is to high i have tried every screw i can see but cant get the high beam to move up or down. The Li and Hi move at the same time but i only want Hi to move down NEED HELP you are the best man on youtube for the ford mondeo Thanks Gino
That’s the strangest H11B bulb I’ve ever seen . Most cars here 🇨🇦 with quad headlights & have the DRLs in the inner lights . LEDs would be a good upgrade but I don’t know about the low beam / DRL .
hi Alan, I have just bought a 2015 mk5 Mondeo titanium, I've just watched this video and I'm not sure how to tell what type of headlights my car has, what do I look for to know which ones I have ? thanks
if you shine your headlamps against a wall... halogen bulbs are not very bright and will have a yellowish tinge to them...if they are led then they will be a very sharp bright white light.....you can also phone your nearest ford dealer and give their parts department your reg no. they will tell you what type of headlamps are fitted to your car as long as they are standard from new
@@alan4x i tried that thanks and they are yellowish so i've decided to upgrade to the led conversion as in one of your other video's, i'm also thinking about using led in drl/high beam at same time. Thanks again for the info
hi, i don't think you can., the wiring would be totally different plus it would cost a fortune to convert, they do look alike kits but that is not the same thing i know
Alan, you are great!!!! Point is how to disassemble the headlight unit... perhaps you have already a video? It would be helpful !!! Thanks!!!
great video but you didnt mentioned what types are sadly. Can you help out please? is it H7 and h15(or H11B) ? Thanks
Yes I'm not the only one who thinks they are dim at night
lol
DRL bulb: £40.
Labour to replace DRL: £350! 😂

@@alan4x OK thanks. As you can imagine I don't intend to keep on changing bulbs every MOT considering how shit the procedure is !! 🤪

Effing hell, i'll stick to my mark 4.5 thanks... Cheers Alan, brilliant and funny as always.
The LED headlights are a million times better, stay away from halogen
Alan how can I adjust the light beams on my mk5 mondeo? Great videos by the way
Was wondering can't you fit LED bulbs now instead of halogen seen plenty of LED bulbs on the market direct replacements for halogen
tell me more
Got caught with rear indicator bulb on a mk1 kuga, £48 dont think so. Grabbed a few out of scrapyard instead.
Taxi drivers don’t use indicators that’s why they last forever. Hahahha sorry I had too :)
lmao
Fabulous explanation on head light bulbs hehe 😂
I always feel the 100w bulbs make a lot more heat but don't seem to be much brighter.
Hi Alan does my 65 reg Mondeo have seperate main beam and headlight or same bulb as I bought H7 S2 but main problem is main beam is useless and hardly any difference in brightness to headlight.
your main beam bulbs will also be your daytime running bulbs which are quite expensive

you cant change the levelling motor on these headlamps..they are encased in the unit and cannot be removed
😀👰
Top tips as always 👍
😀😅😂🤣. I’ve only gone and bought one. Looking forward to the headache of replacing the bulbs and the big job of getting to them to start.🙃

How about the dynamic LED headlights? Bulletproof?
hi, we don't have any cars with the led headlamps so i just don't know but for what they cost they should be good
Great video. Thank you. I didn’t have to remove the connector to remove the H15 though.
List of bulbs would bei nice.
Daylight /Highbeam H15
Normal Light H7
But the Turnaignal ?
Die anyone know ?
bulb for the turnsignal is called "PWY19W" (19 Watts) or "PWY24W" (24 Watts) and the smallest is a standard "W5W"
Lol 😎
is it possible to upgrade the headlamps to the ford dynamic ones?

alan howatt thanks. Glad I didn’t go ahead and buy them. I’ll just stick with originals. No a fan of aftermarket stuff.
