I was a prospector fan...until I spent the $10 on a subscription for Dec and got the mole. With some solo mining I was able to save up enough aUEC to buy an in game mole before the rental is taken away by CIG. Now prospector is my pledge ship to grind to get a mole. It prints aUEC...almost have enough to buy a C2 now.
@@Dartagland larger hold. It can hold 3x what the prospector holds so I average larger than 1 prospector when I go out. Less wasted inert material space so less selective about what quant I mine...and the option to take a friend with if I want.
I liked the Gemini version of the Starfarer better. While the loss of internal cargo is significant, it still carries the same number of fuel pods as its' civilian counterpart and had heavier guns and armor. In future (according to the latest inside SC) we'll be able to choose between the refinery pods or fuel pods so it's a bit more flexible as well as managing rough neighborhoods like Pyro a bit better. And I agree with you about the 890J, showing new players around one is highly enjoyable.
I’m hoping we can transfer the cargo from the starfarer to a 3rd hauler for transportation but I suspect the first iteration of ship refining will be a bit of a fudge - get close enough to starfarer to offload, then the refined goods just appear in the starfarer’s hold. At which point the amount of scu you can carry does start to have a big impact.
I recently started using the Starfarer to do 3k delivery missions jsut for fun and do some sightseeing around microtec. It grew on me a lot especially with the new paint i gave it. Its not very refined but it already looks good and just lacks some functions and gold pass. Maybe some internal optimization but its not as bad as people say.
@@phoenixsui all I know is when I was getting internal shots I couldn’t for the life of me find the bridge to turn the lights on! The one incredibly easy change I think they could make with the Starfarer is to at least have better signposting showing the way to the bridge! That said I do actually like how it flies - even though they’re lumpy I really enjoy flying the bigger industrial / cargo ships like the starfarer / mole / caterpillar.
Really love your viewpoint on ship purchasing, and like you said just because a ship might not be someone else's choice doesn't make it crap. Your ship list videos have helped me make some decisions once Im playing.

Yeah I think it’s really important to just try and add a bit of weight to the other side of the hype :D Don’t get me wrong I look forward to the day that this is a fully fleshed mmo, but at the moment one of the best things is making money to buy and fly a new ship - so if you pay $$$ for everything immediately you kinda risk taking the fun out of it :D

What bothers me a lot is the hangar assignments for the Carreck.... they are far too small... we should be getting the same hangars as 890J ... I have had more than one wreck that could have easily been avoided if the hangar was big enough

Conveniently my next vid is quite possibly a run down of my favourite starters ahead of the free fly and big IAE sale. My primary recommendation to anyone though is pickup an Aurora or a Mustang (don’t think about it too hard as you shouldn’t envisage staying in it long). Then if you’re desperate and able to spend a bit more maybe look at the Titan, then if you’re really enjoying yourself consider picking up a cutlass black for $100. However, I think at this point new players really need to take stock of the fleets that some other people have and consider whether it makes any sense to put more than $40 into the game for a starter pack. So many people have huge multi-crew ships that personally I believe that crew will be in such high demand you’ll be able to demand an equal share of any profits from somebody you sign up to fly with, so just let those people pay you and buy yourself a nice expensive ship in game! Thanks - you basically helped me write the script :D

Prowler. Regarding this ship, something everyone forgets is that it was feared mainly for being used in ship-to-ship boarding actions, which is its unique strength and reason for the electromagnetic devices along its lower hull. The ability to stealth up on larger vessals, attach to their hull and quickly deploy a boarding party is what it is best at. We just never saw that in the trailer because the mechanics for that haven't been completed yet.

Legitimate salvage. Expanse fan? Of the expensive ships the carrack is probably my favorite. And the prowler disappoints me so much, just doesn't fly like a dropship should.

Starting to like the Phoenix, certainly more than the 600i or 890. Luxury is not my thing, but taxi driver could be a fun game loop if they give it some story content and interesting locations.
Yeah I quite enjoyed a bit of the passenger gameplay in elite, I just hope there’s as much thought out into loops like tourism as there has been for mining etc.
Perhaps along the way you could get ambushed by some folks who would "like to have a word with your passenger", maybe leading to you not just having to get out of there but go to an alternate location where the passenger has their own escort ship waiting, where you will then take them to their final destination. Heh, perhaps you'll pick up a passenger and halfway through the trip you'll get a message offering even more money if you drop them off at another location, say, Grim Hex where other interested parties will be there to meet them.....

600i may be the gentleman's Aquila... But not even in the same league as the Carrack. The 2 flyable ships I would not get rid of are the Carrack and as Warden
I always assumed that the low number of beds was for a rotation of crew, essentially having the Carrack constantly on the move or atleast having a skeleton crew running the ship while the others sleep. Thats how we use our carrack atleast. Granted you dont get the comfort of your own bed but i prefer to sleep in the airlock area of the cartography deck anyway, much nicer views and no one to bother you
I really hope that they adjust the pricings on the ships, when full release.Because 12 Million credts for a hammerhead, sounds like the best deal EVER!!! Ships with this size, should cost up to 90-100 Million. Same goes for ships that have very strong armament and specialized roles, such as ships like these stealth bombers, with there insane torpedos. And of course the econmy should also be focused around it. it just feels kinda strange, seeing such gigantic ships, for such small numbers.
I think it's because we're still sitting in alpha. I think once we get out of Alpha, earning UEC will be extremely hard, specially if you don't have an array of ships. The system is still being fleshed out and though it's extremely easy to get aUEC, I doubt it'll be that way when the game releases. Once the game is fully releases, I think people will be complaining on how you earn money. ie: Imagine a Hull D or Hull E and an Orion and running a mining convoy. Adding into operation costs and a security team, that would probably cost a massive chunk. Think of repair costs, paying people to man the ship and help do some of the things required for it to be operable, the mining crew, the security crew, the repairs, the replacements, the refueling, etc... I think once everything is fully laid down, CIG will be receiving complaints about how hard it is to start. Between their vision of having every critical part on a ship repairable and have it's own damage model, how you will soon need to refuel, and how salvaging is incorporated, I can picture it costing a lot of UEC just doing simple tier 1 bounty hunts and the same goes for mining as well, or any other way we earn UEC. One thing I hope people realize is how massive the ambition is behind the game and if they do manage to fully implement everything they want, this game will be massive.
no need to had beds to the character, just allow to have multiple poeple log out of the same bed, because in theory when one is sleeping, there are people on the "night shift" operating the ship... so you can allow at least 2 peoples to be linked to a single bunk bed, I wouldn't allow that for "luxury" beds like the 890j but those bed are most of the time double so then ya those would allow two people to log out aswell... I would prolly go to up to 4 people per bunk bed in military ship, since soldiers wouldn't be let sleep more than 6 hours, and would have rotation of 4 crew ideally, that would multiply by 4 the amount of people on a military ship. industrial ship could go to 3 per bed, as a rotation of 3 shifts of 8 yours. the idea would be that you would manage teh ship's "schedule" in the crew manifest (a MFD display that should be there) listing all the personnel, their authorisation access etc, and therefor their sleep time period, so a players logging during that period would had a penalty debuff on stamina consumtion and recovery, aswell as Gforce tolerance.
I have the Carack and it is pretty nice , however disappointed the a solo pilot ( like me) cannot fire any weapons. Which means it’s a hangar queen ( along with 890 jump)
Yeah I like to solo too, not saying that playing with others wouldn't be out of the question, just like doing the "role playing" type of stuff Thst being said.... That's why I'm glad you can RENT the big ships in game all I have to do is pay a somewhat small fee rent it for a day (just a day, I don't imagine to be a richer member of the verse, lol) seed my thoughts on the experience and move on to the next big mamma jamma, lol
Personally I like my smaller fighters for bounty hunting, but the 600 series is good for disappearing stuff at range. Might look at a Connie though (similar weapons and a lot cheaper).
So i do own now a Hawk, Arrow, ION, for fighting, Freelancer MAX, Prospector for (quantanium)mining and the MAX for trading aswell. what niche ship sould i buy next? ^^ I dont do lots of Multicrew atm, whats a good big multicrew ship thats good manageable solo? Constelation maybe?

Probably because mechanical designs that work to generate lift in at atmosphere with gravity will also work to generate lift in other atmospheres with different gravity, albeit looking slightly different because the atmosphere and gravity is different. An alien planet may be alien, but physics is still physics.
I have a feeling it’s going to get more work and ships. Only 2 were available there and only one (the MSR) exclusively. I’d imagine in the future it’ll get terminals tor buying all the Crusader ships.
I have only just started playing this game but one thing I see is glaringly obvious... much of this game assumes that you know a lot of others who have plenty of time to spend flying a ship around and doing missions. That pretty much leaves us real-life full-time employed people out of a lot of these ships and operations. Am I missing something here? I mean to buy a ship that requires three persons (or more) to fly is sort of useless... unless you can use NPCs?
There’s plans for NPC’s - I have a deep dive vid looking at everything I could find that they’ve said on the subject so far. But interestingly the devs do seem to be pushing the multiplayer aspect of the game quite hard with the design. Speaking as a fellow real life full time employed person though I feel that shouldn’t be a barrier - there are player orgs that cater to all sorts so you might not find a home in some of the ultra-hardcore orgs but if they’re ruling out everyone whose got a job they’re not catering to much of the player base.
After seeing the 600i in-game I can fully say that calling it anything next to a carrack is just wrong. It's a 'luxury explorer' so the explorer class is all it shares imo, the rest is a waste of space that could be better used. The phoenix is much better looking as far as 'luxury' goes and uses the space better, not to mention nearly half the cost. If anything the touring model uses space better, but that wide open 'captain's quarters' bed makes me scream internally. To each their own though.... Edit: you forgot to mention the Carrack sounds like a freakin tie fighter 🤣 The only REAL issue I have with the carrack is that the captain's quarters bed space vs desk space is insanely mis-used. The bed could be a full double and still fit in that small space, but honestly it needs to be re-done to use that entire space better, there's no reason the captain should be sat in a single bed on the wall... not that it's a huge issue, I just think the space isn't used very well.
I can’t personally disagree - I use the Phoenix as my lux ship of choice. That said the 600i is getting a rework which is definitely going to include some things like a med bay so the gap between it and the carrack should shrink a little at least.
@@LoudGuns oh wow! I didn't expect a reply before I even finished the 890jump portion of the video, thank you for that. Being the cheapest ship with a medical bed is certainly going to give it that extra 'bump' that it desperately needs while hopefully using space a bit better... I might actually look into one with that sort of functionality, but will probably buy other ships like a mole and fighter, or even save for a reclaimer ... just because, before that 10m goes to 'luxury'. Although, I personally enjoy the carrack as my 'large ship'... It has more of an exploration feel to it, maybe it's the mk-4 core armor that everyone calls me master chief in while standing in the cartography room.... Kidding, I enjoy the Carrack because for everything you can do with it, It's one of the nicest, while not being the largest, it has that 'star ship' feel over all the others. Anvil seems to be good at that. The only reason I have one now is that I was gifted the aUEC in-game to buy one so I have that, the titan, pisces, and a prospector, but i've also given about 2m away myself, hopefully I can earn the 26.6m back that the carrack costs and help someone else out too :)
@@LoudGuns I actually have 1 more issue with the carrack... and that is the glaringly obvious one... There is only one way in the ship from the ground. There is plenty of room to do 1 of 2, or both of these... 1. The landing gear in the 'front' almost looks like stairs, and could easily be doubled to do just that, stairs into the ship, even if it's to a ladder. 2. The elevators in the ship could either be made to go down to the ground, or potentially just adding a small elevator to get in/out. The constellation has the cargo area and the elevator, and it seems like such a waste to not have something like that on the carrack.

I’d imagine it’s one of those things that seems obvious once you’ve got it in the verse with thousands of players using it but can get overlooked by a relatively small team.

I know it's not essential, but, as you seem unsure about it, the pronunciation of the Constellation "Aquila" is very simple and there is only one way to do that: No options. As any "constellation" of the sky, the international convention is to use the Latin denomination: Aquila, Taurus, Virgo, Ursa Maior, Scorpio, etc The Latin pronunciation is A'-qui-la", with the accent on the A. Not Achila, or Aquìla or whatever else: as if you had to pronounce "Aquila Imperialis" in Latin (Imperial Eagle) independently on how each Romance language has transformed it during the centuries. Ask to any astronomer or deep sky photographer if you need confirmation. Apparently Chris Roberts has not done his homework when the spelled the ship name "Constellation Achìla"

That makes sense (same with the terrapin) for some of the military ships. I just wonder how that translates into bed logging as a crew later on.

Between their vision of having every critical part on a ship repairable and have it's own damage model, how you will soon need to refuel, and how salvaging is incorporated, I can picture it costing a lot of UEC just doing simple tier 1 bounty hunts and the same goes for mining as well, or any other way we earn UEC.
One thing I hope people realize is how massive the ambition is behind the game and if they do manage to fully implement everything they want, this game will be massive.

no need to had beds to the character, just allow to have multiple poeple log out of the same bed, because in theory when one is sleeping, there are people on the "night shift" operating the ship...
so you can allow at least 2 peoples to be linked to a single bunk bed, I wouldn't allow that for "luxury" beds like the 890j but those bed are most of the time double so then ya those would allow two people to log out aswell...
I would prolly go to up to 4 people per bunk bed in military ship, since soldiers wouldn't be let sleep more than 6 hours, and would have rotation of 4 crew ideally, that would multiply by 4 the amount of people on a military ship.
industrial ship could go to 3 per bed, as a rotation of 3 shifts of 8 yours.
the idea would be that you would manage teh ship's "schedule" in the crew manifest (a MFD display that should be there)
listing all the personnel, their authorisation access etc, and therefor their sleep time period, so a players logging during that period would had a penalty debuff on stamina consumtion and recovery, aswell as Gforce tolerance.
I have the Carack and it is pretty nice , however disappointed the a solo pilot ( like me) cannot fire any weapons.
Which means it’s a hangar queen ( along with 890 jump)
Yeah I like to solo too, not saying that playing with others wouldn't be out of the question, just like doing the "role playing" type of stuff
Thst being said.... That's why I'm glad you can RENT the big ships in game all I have to do is pay a somewhat small fee rent it for a day (just a day, I don't imagine to be a richer member of the verse, lol) seed my thoughts on the experience and move on to the next big mamma jamma, lol

Personally I like my smaller fighters for bounty hunting, but the 600 series is good for disappearing stuff at range. Might look at a Connie though (similar weapons and a lot cheaper).

So i do own now a Hawk, Arrow, ION, for fighting, Freelancer MAX, Prospector for (quantanium)mining and the MAX for trading aswell. what niche ship sould i buy next? ^^ I dont do lots of Multicrew atm, whats a good big multicrew ship thats good manageable solo? Constelation maybe?

Probably because mechanical designs that work to generate lift in at atmosphere with gravity will also work to generate lift in other atmospheres with different gravity, albeit looking slightly different because the atmosphere and gravity is different.
An alien planet may be alien, but physics is still physics.

I have a feeling it’s going to get more work and ships. Only 2 were available there and only one (the MSR) exclusively. I’d imagine in the future it’ll get terminals tor buying all the Crusader ships.
I have only just started playing this game but one thing I see is glaringly obvious... much of this game assumes that you know a lot of others who have plenty of time to spend flying a ship around and doing missions. That pretty much leaves us real-life full-time employed people out of a lot of these ships and operations. Am I missing something here? I mean to buy a ship that requires three persons (or more) to fly is sort of useless... unless you can use NPCs?
There’s plans for NPC’s - I have a deep dive vid looking at everything I could find that they’ve said on the subject so far. But interestingly the devs do seem to be pushing the multiplayer aspect of the game quite hard with the design. Speaking as a fellow real life full time employed person though I feel that shouldn’t be a barrier - there are player orgs that cater to all sorts so you might not find a home in some of the ultra-hardcore orgs but if they’re ruling out everyone whose got a job they’re not catering to much of the player base.

Yeah I’m hopefully going to pop something out later tonight on where to pickup all the stuff for my full mining builds.
After seeing the 600i in-game I can fully say that calling it anything next to a carrack is just wrong. It's a 'luxury explorer' so the explorer class is all it shares imo, the rest is a waste of space that could be better used. The phoenix is much better looking as far as 'luxury' goes and uses the space better, not to mention nearly half the cost.
If anything the touring model uses space better, but that wide open 'captain's quarters' bed makes me scream internally.
To each their own though....
Edit: you forgot to mention the Carrack sounds like a freakin tie fighter 🤣
The only REAL issue I have with the carrack is that the captain's quarters bed space vs desk space is insanely mis-used.
The bed could be a full double and still fit in that small space, but honestly it needs to be re-done to use that entire space better, there's no reason the captain should be sat in a single bed on the wall... not that it's a huge issue, I just think the space isn't used very well.
I can’t personally disagree - I use the Phoenix as my lux ship of choice. That said the 600i is getting a rework which is definitely going to include some things like a med bay so the gap between it and the carrack should shrink a little at least.

Being the cheapest ship with a medical bed is certainly going to give it that extra 'bump' that it desperately needs while hopefully using space a bit better... I might actually look into one with that sort of functionality, but will probably buy other ships like a mole and fighter, or even save for a reclaimer ... just because, before that 10m goes to 'luxury'.
Although, I personally enjoy the carrack as my 'large ship'... It has more of an exploration feel to it, maybe it's the mk-4 core armor that everyone calls me master chief in while standing in the cartography room....
Kidding, I enjoy the Carrack because for everything you can do with it, It's one of the nicest, while not being the largest, it has that 'star ship' feel over all the others. Anvil seems to be good at that.
The only reason I have one now is that I was gifted the aUEC in-game to buy one so I have that, the titan, pisces, and a prospector, but i've also given about 2m away myself, hopefully I can earn the 26.6m back that the carrack costs and help someone else out too :)
@@LoudGuns I actually have 1 more issue with the carrack... and that is the glaringly obvious one... There is only one way in the ship from the ground.
There is plenty of room to do 1 of 2, or both of these...
1. The landing gear in the 'front' almost looks like stairs, and could easily be doubled to do just that, stairs into the ship, even if it's to a ladder.
2. The elevators in the ship could either be made to go down to the ground, or potentially just adding a small elevator to get in/out.
The constellation has the cargo area and the elevator, and it seems like such a waste to not have something like that on the carrack.

Yeah a few ships (MSR is another one) need a “common sense pass” to have better entry points made. I’d imagine it’s one of those things that seems obvious once you’ve got it in the verse with thousands of players using it but can get overlooked by a relatively small team.
@@LoudGuns I am passing time with videos, but Hopefully they'll do a pass and make it mostly symmetrical (probably not), that's the only reason i simply can't buy the ship, It would forever bother me knowing my ship was like that.
I know lots of ships aren't 'gold' yet, so Will just have to keep an eye out.

I know it's not essential, but, as you seem unsure about it, the pronunciation of the Constellation "Aquila" is very simple and there is only one way to do that: No options.
As any "constellation" of the sky, the international convention is to use the Latin denomination: Aquila, Taurus, Virgo, Ursa Maior, Scorpio, etc
The Latin pronunciation is A'-qui-la", with the accent on the A. Not Achila, or Aquìla or whatever else: as if you had to pronounce "Aquila Imperialis" in Latin (Imperial Eagle) independently on how each Romance language has transformed it during the centuries. Ask to any astronomer or deep sky photographer if you need confirmation.
Apparently Chris Roberts has not done his homework when the spelled the ship name "Constellation Achìla"
Ha yeah I always thought it was pronounced that way but then I heard John Crewe say it like I did in the vid and figured hey maybe that’s it. Still I think I’ll pop it in my not to worry about pile since it’s not a ship I fly too much :D
