  • 🎼 This is a short demo of the Alesis QDR synth module. Most of the programs are stock/factory presets, but I did edit & tweak a few of them. This is the first demo in a planned series. Eventually I plan to demonstrate some of the QSR's "Mix" presets, ("Mix" is like Korg's "COMBI" mode, in which multiple programs are layered &/or split) & also some presets & Mixes from the Alesis "Q-Card" expansion cards. I hope you enjoy the demo. 😏 😉

      Yep, this synth is my main workhorse. When all others fail, I end up coming back to it. I would pay Alesis to release an updated version.

    I had the Quadrasynth back in the 90's. Great synth with a 16 zones keyboards split and GM. I gave it to a friend when I moved. The demo in the rack version is better than the one in the keyboard though.

      Thanks, Snuppeluppen søppelsopp. The QSR is a rackmount version of the QS7 and QS8. (which is an upgraded Quadrasynth) It's a decent little ROMpler.
      The filter is non-resonant, but the QSR has ADSR envelopes, nice effects processors & good modulation routing.

      Thank you. 😏 It's not a bad little synth. In some ways....it kind of reminds me of the Roland D-50. (sound wise) The FX you here are all internal only. (& based on the Alesis Quadraverb 2) It has a pretty powerful modulation matrix. (which I don't really know how to use, hehehe) It has no sequencer, so all of the rhythmic type sounds are achieved with modulation. The sounds in the video are all single presets/patches. There are some really cool Mix/Combi sounds, which I hope to demonstrate in another video. There are also some cool sounds on the "Q-Card" expansion cards. (the "Vintage Synths" & "Euro Dance" Q-Card are quite interesting) Have a great weeks. 😉

      Definitely GREAT DEMO :
      .No External Effect
      . Internal "Waves" Used For These Patches
      . SINGLE PRESETS
      ... Which Really "Shows" How Huge Its Sounding Potential Is ... No Doubt From What I've Heard So Far !
      So Glad To Discover It From Your Excellent Demo ... Waiting For The Other One, Demonstrating Some Mix / Combi !
      Excellent Week To You Too ! ;-))

      Hi oscillator. Thanks for the comment & the compliments. 😊 It's not a bad little synth. Not an amazing synth.....but it's a cool/fun little synth. There are also some good sounds in "Mix" mode, & on the "Q-Card" expansion cards. (which I will eventually demonstrate, in part 2)
      BTW, how have you been? Have you been using your Blowfeld much? (or your Morpheus?) Have you got any more new/used gear lately? I bought an Oberheim Matrix 1000 about 2 weeks ago. I've wanted a Matrix for years, & I was very excited to finally get one.....but it was not in working condition when it arrived. 😒 Very disappointing, 😢 but at least I was able to get a refund. Best regards to you, too. 😏

      gjc82071
      Hello :) Unfortunately I don't have any new gear since Blofeld, but to be honest I just switched it on one time to check the factory presets. That's all because I had some short holidays back then and now I'm away from home (and my synths) again - I guess I told you before that I'm working in Finland. Now I'm here little more than one year, working by 12 hours 6 days a week so is no time for synths and music at all. The only thing I did when I was at home last time - I recorded some sounds from the Morpheus quickly to mix it for "Insanity 2" track later there in Finland. Life is life, sometimes I will have more time for my hobby.. Cheers mate!

      EX-800 is just a desktop version of the Poly-800. ;-) My Poly 800 is so old & damaged, (many of the keys & buttons no longer work, etc) it's basically unusable. Getting the EX-800 was probably cheaper than having the Poly-800 repaired.

    Are these all built in sounds without using any of the expansion cards? Finally the memory cards are for recording songs or for making your own digital samples? Thanks for any help.

    • @gjc82071
      @gjc82071  5 років тому +2

      Yes, the sounds in this demo are all built in sounds without using any of the expansion cards.
      The memory cards ("Q Cards") are *not* for recording songs or for making your own digital samples. The Q Cards just contain additional digital samples & programs/sounds. They also contain "mixes". (mixes are comprised of multiple programs/sounds. Some are layered, some are split across the keyboard, etc)

      @@gjc82071 how easy/hard is it to progam, any good for this, or is it more "as is". Love the pads on it, crisp! Any comparison to the JV 1080 or 2080? tnx

    • @gjc82071
      @gjc82071  3 роки тому +1

      @@AnalogFlava It's not very hard to program. A lot of "menu diving", of course, but has a simple user interface. The biggest drawback is the lack of a resonance filter. But you have control of the low pass filter, modulation, selection of waveforms, selection/editing of internal effects processors, etc, and can create some great sounds. When you say "as is", I think you mean like a basic "ROMpler". The QSR is more than a ROMpler & is very programmable.
      I've never owned or used a JV-1080 or 2080. However, I do own a JV-1010 and XV5080. As a standalone sound module, It's much more programmable than a JV-1010. (you need a PC and software to do anything more than basic editing of the JV1010) but it's nowhere near as powerful or programmable as the XV5080. (though it's now 21 years old, the XV5080 is still a beast! (and totally programmable with out the need for a PC) Overall the QSR is a nice sound module. (and there are some great "Q Cards", (expansion cards) like "Vintage Synthesizers")

    • @gjc82071
      @gjc82071  4 роки тому

      Alesis QS - Series FAQ : (QS8, QS7, QS6 and QSR) (also reset to factory defaults)
      1. Turn the power off.
      2. Make sure the Mod Wheel is all the way down, otherwise the zero position of the wheel will be incorrect.
      3. Hold down the 0 and 3 buttons while turning the power on.

      Offhand I can't remember, but I'm pretty sure there is. The QSR is identical to the QS7/8. Bank 1 Program 003 is called "PianoMorph" on the QS7/8, so it's probably the same on the QSR. 😉
