This is the most intriguing bus ride I've had in London. It's most gratifying to see so many people of all ages walking on the sidewalks. In my American city, nobody walks anywhere, even in good weather, so our streets are often jammed with cars. Muswell Hill is a revelation of how so many Londoners can live their entire lives without leaving their neighborhoods. Muswell Hill's shopping area is more extensive than the center of some American cities.
Hi Thanks for posting, 70+ years ago I started my working life as a Bus Driver on this route. Though it then ran from Golders Green to the Forest Hotel in Chingford, edge of Epping Forest. And I could hardly recognize much of it due to so many changes. Don't think I would like to be on there now. But enjoyed your Video well done!
Thank you very much, what an honour to have you comment on the channel. Thank you for sharing some of the route's history; it has certainly changed a lot! Take care of yourself, and thank you for your service!
@@Wanderizm I don't know whether Ken Yull ever drove this, but for quite a lot of the 102's history, up until the mid-1960s, it actually ran on into the middle of Epping Forest to High Beach on summer Sundays. It must have been quite a sight in those days to see big red London buses winding along the leafy lanes full of people looking to get out of the city for an afternoon..
OMG! I didn't realize you had done this one. I just suggested it somewhere else. Great route, used to be famous for buses being an hour late and then three would show up at once. it's changed since my day, used to go from Golders Green to Epping Forest.
That woman with the children at 14.20 might have had the good manners to give a nod of appreciation to the driver for holding back to allow her to cross!
Great route. I can't help thinking that many areas were just one huge building site in the early 20th century. Your comments about the places we where going through were interesting. Perhaps you could put those back into your new videos?
Really an interesting trip through London suburb. Not loaded with traffic and signals.Enjoyed it. Thank you. I really wanted to see how the streets and housing areas were arranged in London. From Kerala, India.
A very pleasant trip around those parts of London. The houses and cars shows it's well healed part of London and such beautiful parks and the THS shop. A lovely day and a nice journey. Thanks Wanderizm.🚍🇬🇧
Thanks for uploading a video I really wanted to see -- I used to go on this route regularly to visit my Chinese herbal doctor, who had moved from Edgware to the Edmonton shopping centre. I used to get the 183 from Pinner and pick it up at Golders Green. It brings back a lot of pleasant memories!
One of the other side advantages of watching these is that i now feel i can quite happily take over the reins if the actual driver should keel over from a heart attack or drink or suchlike.Of course i should probably get my drivers licence first...
The best thing about public transport in London is that anyone over 60, as I am, can get an Oyster card from County Hall which enables me to use all of London's buses, tubes and overground services for free! London is literally my oyster! Now that's what I call civilised. Thankfully the Conservative (Republican) government here has no say in the matter, or they would abolish it. London is a Labour (Democrat) city that welcomes immigration, unlike a lot of the English.
Another part of London I don’t know. Very nice and green. Haven’t seen any Victorian houses. I like it a lot better when you put the bus stops etc on the screen. Then I know where I am! Even though I am using a 47 inch tv as my cycling monitor I can’t read the bus stops and I can’t hear the announcements. I’m guessing the shops we first went through were Golders Green due to various “Kosher” signs but it didn’t have to be. The first clue I got was a store with Hampstead Garden Food Store. My sister also watches them when she uses her exercise bike. We grew up in Surrey and almost never went to north London. Much greener than south London.
@@Wanderizm As a matter of interest, do you read Cyrillic script, or are you just hoping this says something nice! My guess is that the first phrase is "greetings from Moscow" or words to that effect,.but as to the rest.... Could be a Russian oligarch who owns a place in Bishop's Avenue, reacting to your comment that it is London's most controversial street.

whereabouts in america are you from? i found few people walking around LA when i went but San Francisco was quite busy.
Glad you like Muswell Hill, that's where I grew up. It is nice.
This brought back so many happy memories for me. Thank you so much🥰🙋🏼♀️

This video of the best in the world. Superb
Beautiful video 🙏❤️❤️❤️🌲

It's something that seems quite rare in London, but in the rest of the UK most people do sign their thanks to drivers who wait for them to cross.
Really nice and inspiring video! Truly enjoyed and look forward to seeing your next video. Take care and have a lovely day!!!
Thanks Robert - you too, have a great day! 👍
Thank you for bringing us on this beautiful bus ride around London city.

You're most welcome! 👍
Perfect. As close to London as i would ever like to go!
Hi there! Thanks for riding along with me. 👍
Its the greatest city in the World. It's a place that you love and hate, sometimes in equal parts. " He who tires of London has tired of life".

At 39:39 stop, the house on the right hand corner is the Fairport House a physician clinic where the Fairport Convention band formed.
Oh wow, thank you for sharing this piece of history with us!
