You need a higher voltage and current in order to achieve the increase power of the amplifier adding will just make the amp handle the load not to increase the wattage
Also you cannot just add more voltage to the circuit since some components aren't design to handle double the voltage. You also need to redesign or change some components to handle twice the voltage.
@Richard NZ Yes, if the amp is made for 8ohm speaker by doing this thing you can connect a 2ohm speaker, obtain more power but you also need to change the power transformer to a bigger one, same voltage but more amps.
By doing this, you upgrade current capability, but it won't exceed what the speaker can take at a given voltage, which is given by the RMS voltage at the output of the amplifier (not supply voltage) divided by the speaker impedance! Multiply the result by the RMS output voltage again to get the real power! When measuring RMS output voltage, do it when the speaker is connected!
Hi I just build the same circuit based on the same diagram but I have a problem. I used the same components except the BD139 becouse I had only BD140 in stock. Could this be the reason that at low volume levels the amp distorts but at higher levels its playing fine? Please let me know if you have something in mind about that. Thanks!
that will never increase something ... its just dividing the stress from the load ... if you want to increase the watts .. you have to increase the voltage or the current of the power supply ... remember the simple formula watts = voltage/current ....
