I've always had this feeling that Wehrlein would win a championship in FE. Season 5 he was fighting for the win in his proper debut in Santiago. Almost won the race after in Mexico. He didn't race in Saudi due to his Mercedes contract and got wiped out in Marrakesh. He was ridiculously unlucky that season. Qualified on Pole in Paris but was excluded for a minor tyre pressure infringement. Season 6 he got the teams best result, 4th in Santiago. Then he mysteriously left Mahindra during lockdown when he was basically confirmed at Porsche for 2021. I think some contract issues or something meant he couldn't complete the season at Mahindra.
I'm watching back some of the old races. Starting at Mexico season 3, Di Grassi's last to first win in that crazy chaotic race. Would've been JEV's first win if not for that energy masterclass by Di Grassi and D'Ambrosio doing the same until the final laps. Such a shame for Turvey that race. Least he got 2nd place at Mexico the season after. This race summed up Jose Maria Lopez's FE career. Often incredibly quick but too quick for his own good, spinning off at one point.
Sounds like that TBD race on March 8th will be removed from the calendar (according to Sam Smith at The Race, who is right about 90% of the time.) Possibly one of Miami or Jakarta might become a double-headers. If not for the 3rd season in a row a record breaking calendar ends up being a record equalling 16 race season instead. Seoul, South Korean double-header was removed from the 2023 calendar. Due to their general closeness of that calendar compared to most seasons there was not a big gap despite this.
Didn't do too badly at all. Just Envision I got really wrong and I honestly believe they had pace to finish 3rd in that car, just the drivers and team constantly screwed up.

I will be honest I never knew this season Jack Hughes would do a better job than Sam Bird given that Sam Bird has been close in winning a Formula E championship a few times but you could argue it is not a surprised since he struggled since Season 8 as well.
Fun fact: If Wehrlein had taken 1 less pole this season he and Evans would've been tied on points going into the final race. With Cassidy 1 point behind.
This how I'd rank every championship win: 1. Da Costa 2019-20 2. Vergne 2017-18 3. Vergne 2018-19 4. Di Grassi 2016-17 5. Dennis 2023 6. Wehrlein 2024 7. Vandoorne 2022 8. Buemi 2015-16 9. Piquet 2014-15 10. De Vries 2021 Da Costa is first simply because he did what seemed impossible. Dominate the championship on that qualifying format. The only time a championship has been won before the final double-header of the season. Buemi is so low just because he made it a lot harder for himself that season. He kept messing up qualifying for quite a few races. That Renault E.Dams car was better than the Di Grassi's ABT Audi. I don't think this can be denied tbh.
Sette Camara would've been classified 6th in Italy R1 due to a power spike. He did though get 6th in R2. ERT scored no more points for the rest of the season.
I assumed Nato would when he turned down Andretti, as for Daruvala, it's a shame as there were strong moments in his rookie year and some bad luck but not consistent enough sadly and there were weekends you forgot he even exsisted.
That was very good on the whole actually! Only a couple of drivers that were majorly wrong but they were the ones that massively under delivered from their expectations like Di Grassi and Fenestraz!
Sounds like Sette Camara is getting dropped by Kiro Race (formerly ERT) according to reports. Ticktum seems pretty much confirmed, 2nd seat Beckmann favourite but a few drivers could be an option.
@TheMoaningYorkshireman I mean that team does need as much as money as they can. Wouldn't surprise me if Porsche strike a deal and loan Beckmann out to them. Still though if I had to keep one of Sette Camara or Ticktum I'd go for Sette based on last season.

I do seem remember there were some rumours after the 2021 event where that missile was intercepted that they might move away from Diriyah. On the provisional calendar for next season it said a new circuit. I just thought it would be a new circuit in Diriyah or a new layout or something.

I hope you are settling into your new job and the people are nice to you and make you feel welcome!😊❤ I can't wait for the Italian Grand Prix this weekend! It looks sunny weather this weekend for it! The last time it rained I think at this track was 2008 funnily enough when I went to the track! It was an incredible race seeing Vettel win his first race in Torro Rosso! I wish I was in Italy enjoying all the lovely Pizza and Pasta😋. It is my driving test next week and I just need to stay calm and just focus on what I need to do in the moment and not worry too much about what other drivers around me are doing. My driving instructor says I am a competent driver , its just my job on the day to get it all right and pass! It is just when I am nervous I overthink things and make mistakes. I will try and have a relaxing weekend to get me in the right zone for my test and hopefully it will be my lucky day next week 🤞.

I wonder if for Antonelli, this crash has impacted his chance of a Mercedes seat next year? I am not sure. I know Antonelli has been the guy Mercedes have been after for so long and I still feel its a lot of pressure on a young guy's shoulders throwing him straight into a top running team. For Colapinto, while he was at the back, he still had a clean 2 sessions and no crashes which is good. James Vowles was interviewed asking about the dismissal of Sargeant and he said, it wasn't that Sargeant didn't give his all, because he absolutely gave all his heart to the team, its just he reached his potential and unfortunately it wasn't enough to meet the demands of F1. Crazy to think Jaguar only won 4 races this season considering how much that powertrain won the previous season. Cassidy and Evans won 8 of the last 11 races in 2023 between them. Don't think Jaguar can class 2025 a success if they don't win both championships tbh.

Yeah it was a great drive by Leclerc, really happy for him. 😊 Also happy for Alex too, he was solid this weekend and had great pace. Unfortunately in that final stint with the long run on hard compound tyres, that Williams was really struggling with tyre life and losing loads of time but he was able to fend off Alonso and keep within 10 seconds of Magnussen to regain that P9. 😊 In regards to Magnussen, I'm going to keep my thoughts on that to myself until Tuesday. I don't think I see it has him fully in the wrong and deserving the ban let's put it that way.
ABT would've finished 7th and would've been fighting for 6th if they had 2 Nico Mullers this season. Envision scored 121 points. 2X Muller would be 104 points. Having said that though Envision would've scored less points but still would've been enough for them to beat ABT.
@TheMoaningYorkshireman Yeah 2022 was a cracking season, so many great races that season. New York city race 1 was the race where that sudden burst of rain came. Robin Frijns in 3rd was the only driver in the top 7 not to crash down that straight. The replays was basically: crash crash Robin Frijns going through crash crash or something. 😂😂
Da Costa and Frijns really were some teammates in season 3, apparently even on shakedowna they'd want to outdo each other. 😂😂 Frijns actually did a lot better than Da Costa that season. Frijns 13th in the championship, Da Costa 20th. Having said that though Da Costa was involved in more collisions that season but still DAC's qualifyings especially were bad.
@@TheMoaningYorkshireman Dario on commentary said they did all sort of crazy things on shakedowns sometimes. Jerome D'Ambrosio and Loic Duval were a similar story at Dragon as well.
@TheMoaningYorkshireman Seems convenient then that Andretti pipped Dragon to 7th in the championship by 1 point that season. 🤣 Andretti then finished last in season 4 and were the only team not to get a podium that season. That car was utter crap, Da Costa was the only reason they scored a reasonable amount of points for the team who finished last.

Shame Oliver Turvey just stayed with NIO. For season 5 he had an offer from Nissan and wouldn't surprise if Mahindra gave him a contract as well.

As for Oliver Turvey, I think he was rated as the most impressive driver each year and it was very noble of him to stay with NIO even when better drives were offered to him. Sadly it don't work out for him though and I'm sure had he signed with Nissan he'd have been very competitive and still racing now.

Montreal was such a great track in Season 3 especially as the season finale. Shame the Montreal government just scrapped the event afterwards.

Putting too much pressure on yourself only makes you more stressed

I agree, been a messy couple of sessions, I honestly don't believe the accident has affected his chance at getting the Mercedes seat for 2025, I just think it's made everyone re-evaluate the expectations put on him for next season, he's rookie and will make mistakes. As for Colapinto, absolutely. He's done the job he needs, 2 free practice sessions under his belt without error and building up milage in the car. Perfect. 👌
In regards to what James has said. I totally agree with him, it was unfair to keep him in that seat where he was clearly in a slump he couldn't get out of. It must have been hard for all involved but it was the correct decision.

Thank you! The one thing I am a bit nervous about is that it is the first time I have done a test in this car as my previous tests have been in my previous instructor's car but hopefully all my previous experiences of driving tests and lessons will help me and I have had a few months of driving this car. We all have different strengths and weaknesses and everyone picks things up at their own rate. Driving has been more of a struggle for me than I hoped. Whatever the outcome of my test, I will let you know and hopefully it can be a celebration if I pass but even if I dont pass, I know I can come to you for a chat and a cheer up 😊❤️

Honestly don't worry about it being a different car, if you've had lessons in then just focus on the lessons you've had in that car and not the fact that you haven't done a driving test in it if that makes sense. 😊 Don't get too caught up on minor details, you'll do great and I know you'll give it your best effort. Don't be nervous, you've got this. 👍
Crazy to think Jaguar only won 4 races this season considering how much that powertrain won the previous season. Cassidy and Evans won 8 of the last 11 races in 2023 between them.
Don't think Jaguar can class 2025 a success if they don't win both championships tbh.

Yeah it was a great drive by Leclerc, really happy for him. 😊 Also happy for Alex too, he was solid this weekend and had great pace. Unfortunately in that final stint with the long run on hard compound tyres, that Williams was really struggling with tyre life and losing loads of time but he was able to fend off Alonso and keep within 10 seconds of Magnussen to regain that P9. 😊 In regards to Magnussen, I'm going to keep my thoughts on that to myself until Tuesday. I don't think I see it has him fully in the wrong and deserving the ban let's put it that way.

ABT would've finished 7th and would've been fighting for 6th if they had 2 Nico Mullers this season.
Envision scored 121 points. 2X Muller would be 104 points. Having said that though Envision would've scored less points but still would've been enough for them to beat ABT.

New York city race 1 was the race where that sudden burst of rain came. Robin Frijns in 3rd was the only driver in the top 7 not to crash down that straight. The replays was basically: crash crash Robin Frijns going through crash crash or something. 😂😂
Da Costa and Frijns really were some teammates in season 3, apparently even on shakedowna they'd want to outdo each other. 😂😂
Frijns actually did a lot better than Da Costa that season. Frijns 13th in the championship, Da Costa 20th. Having said that though Da Costa was involved in more collisions that season but still DAC's qualifyings especially were bad.

Andretti then finished last in season 4 and were the only team not to get a podium that season. That car was utter crap, Da Costa was the only reason they scored a reasonable amount of points for the team who finished last.

Would he have won the championship tbh no, JEV was too strong for anyone but definitely could've been where Sam Bird was. Mahindra just seemed to lose their competitiveness in the 2nd half of the season.

Shame Oliver Turvey just stayed with NIO. For season 5 he had an offer from Nissan and wouldn't surprise if Mahindra gave him a contract as well.
@@willf1sv5 Absolutely, you can't turn Indycar down if the opportunity comes.
As for Oliver Turvey, I think he was rated as the most impressive driver each year and it was very noble of him to stay with NIO even when better drives were offered to him. Sadly it don't work out for him though and I'm sure had he signed with Nissan he'd have been very competitive and still racing now.
