Yo, white lithium grease works really well for storage and as an ablative too. I would recommend that WLG and Wire Pulling Gel. You want something that is pretty viscous so it doesn't pour out, but it needs to be thin enough to soak up the heat from those gasses.

Not sure how long it will take to dry out in storage. Vaseline has the advantage here as well as being less likely to cause corrosion. Hi Matt love your vids! hope youtube will let you do it as long as possible! about the decibel meter, you can't really use one to measure a gun shot noise : this is a very short impulsive sound (decibel meter calculate the noise level over a certain time lenght) so, you will first need to use a fast impulse decibel meter (way more expensive) with it's thinest sampling rate. but even with this kind of decibel meter you will have to apply a corrective value (depending on the recording time lenght of your decibel meter) that can varies between 5 an 12 dB... or you can measure the average noise of your range without shooting to use it as a reference point, then shoot many times and calculate an average value of your shots with the thinest sampling rate on tour decibel meter. this will give you a rough idea of the noise level, but it may be enough to give an idea of the difference between with or without a suppressor. complicated subject but can be a super nice video idea (maybe inviting an acoustician to properly measure the sound). Chears from France and sorry for english butchering!

I would have tried a gear oil. Also old style suppressors that are REALLY quiet used something like a paper between the layers that you would shoot through. This is supposed to get rid of the first round pop. I think a wrap around the suppressor might help too. I wonder is a packing like you use in a muffler in the baffles would help too.

Hi Matt, I'm a big fan of your channel. I have an idea for a video. Shoot fully charged capacitors. There are very large high voltage pulse capacitors that can store many thousands of joules of energy. Would certainly be awsome to fire at them with a large caliber. No one has ever seen this on UA-cam before.
