      @@Thercgeek I really hope so - I have two balsa models now after moving from a bunch of Eflite and Hobbyking foamies. Once you go balsa it's hard to go back to foam but the building time is really annoying with balsa. This could be a new sweet spot for people who love balsa but have time constraints.

    Dear Mr. Geek, thank you for a really good review. Thank you for not talking over the sound of the plane in flight, which is incredible with the stock prop on 4S. Most reviewers just talk and talk and then talk some more, and they don't say a whole lot. It was refreshing to find a reviewer who talks an appropriate amount and in the right places. What is it about balsa? That thing flies like it's on rails and rock solid. Foam just don't fly like that. Subscribed, taking notes and looking forward to binging your videos. Look for a review from me on a plane that I built myself. ;-)

      Thanks so much! I think the rigidity of wood is what helps them to lock in better in flight.

    I know this is a couple years old, but this reminds me of an old school ARF kit with all the electrics already installed. I love the way balsa flys. I may have to get one.

    Mine is coming this week. I plan to make flaperons with mine. I do this all the time with my 3d planes. No need to cut into the wing and add weight just but both ailerons on two channels and make a flaperon set up. Love the review.

    Mine just came in, it has a ton of weights already installed on the motor mount. Also my motor mount is separated from the firewall. No glue on it at all and this is my second plane from Hanger 9 where the firewall had no glue. My 15cc Carbon Cub motor pulled out and no signs of glue on it anywhere. So if anyone buys any Hanger 9 planes, re glue to the motor mounts or at least thoroughly check them. I do it on foamies, never thought I would have to do it on a Hanger 9 plane.

    Another great vid. I do like the "fun scale " approach. Currently building an old gp slab sided corsair. And back in the day built a jenco fun scale P-51 with inverted engine and retracts, and a few other tweaks.
    Hope H9 does a few more of these.

    Thanks for the review, do you think it would be difficult to cut the ailerons and make flaps? It seems weird to spend $500 on a scale (semi scale) warbird without flaps.

    • @Thercgeek

    • @Thercgeek

      The model is the airframe with the electronics installed including the motor and esc. It requires supplying a radio, receiver and flight battery. I have links to all of that in the video description.

      I believe he did flapperons.

    • @Thercgeek
      @Thercgeek  2 роки тому +1

      @Pete Beebe I heard about that. Honestly, this isn’t a real great candidate for flaperons IMO. Flaperons reduce your roll rate when they are down just by themselves which at slow speed can be problematic. I think just cutting in a flap would be the way to go honestly and wouldn’t be too hard I don’t think.

    • @Thercgeek
      @Thercgeek  2 роки тому +1

      @Old Scratch that’s all in the setup. I give myself individually selectable aileron and elevator rates which gives me options for both on a maiden. The model was pretty roll sensitive on the first flight, but switching them to low rate during the flight tamed that straight away.
