  • There is ALWAYS ANOTHER CONNECTION... ♻️ 👉🏻
    The Japanese Connection... {2/2}
    As Master Merrill was the reason behind the naming of the Japanese Supergroup PYG before forming VODKA COLLINS with (ex-PYG) Master Oguchi {which I have explained in my previous release} and recording the album "Tokyo - New York" in 1973, he decided to disband VODKA COLLINS and leave Japan in 1974 for the UK, due to disputes with his management...
    VODKA COLLINS was the first true GLAM ROCK band from JAPAN resuming recording together after 1990.. It was great to see Master Merrill return to Japan and reunite with Master Oguchi & Master Kamayatsu, continuing to record several fantastic albums...
    Rewinding back to 1985, the solo album "Alan Merrill" was released by POLYDOR, recorded in London as well as NYC... The album featured what I call the "TRIPLE T"... Master Taylor of CS&N fame on the Drums, Master Taylor of the ROLLING STONES on the Slide Guitar as well as Master Taylor of the ARROWS on additional Guitar... CRAZY STUFF...
    I am under the impression that Master Winwood must have crossed paths with Master Merrill during his time in the UK in the mid-1970s when his Band ARROWS was in full flight... At the peak of their popularity, when they were given their own Weekly TV show on GRANADA ITV, Master Merrill started to rub shoulders with many of the ROCK INTELLIGENTSIA of the time...The STONES in particular, he was very close with Master Wyman as well as Master Taylor... My understanding is that Master Wyman was involved in the production of the 1985 self-titled solo album in some capacity... Another interesting connection is Master Taylor of the ARROWS later joined Master Wyman's musical outfit THE RYTHMN KINGS...
    For our purposes, the closing track "Always Another Train" on its own is full of some INSANE connections... First off - THE HEAVY HITTERS... Master Winwood is on ALL Keyboards, with Master Taylor of the STONES on the Slide Guitar... The composition was originally a mid-1970s ARROWS track, credited to the members of the band... Master Merrill, Master Taylor & Master Hooker. Again super interestingly, Master Merrill invited actor/director - Oliver Tobias on the Backing Vocals during the sessions in 1985... Why you may ask? Well, apparently, Tobias recorded/released a version of "Always Another Train" as a Single back in 1978, released in Germany... Speaking of 1978, this connection is INSANE...💠 On the sessions in 1985, we get none other than a MYTH... DAMALZA on Percussion... who happens to have played percussion with Master Winwood on stage during his FIRST EVER {and ONLY} solo gig in 1978, at the ROUGH HILL Festival in the UK... You CAN NOT write this stuff... How in the world did she even end up on this album??? There is no mention of her anywhere else...
    The JAPANESE CONNECTION that began in 1971 concludes in 1985... ♻️ 👉🏻
    The capture of VODKA COLLINS - Master Oguchi & Master Merrill - is off Master Merrill's Social Media...
    Enjoy Loud...
