The more I listen to Ta-Nehisi the angrier I get. He explains it so simply and logically, yet there are still those out there that want to pretend it’s complicated

One of his interviews differentiated the complexity in a way I thought was really important. I think it was on Stephen Colbert. He said this isn’t morally complicated, but the systemic reality is complicated. I don’t think the systemic issues should mean the moral right shouldn’t be addressed, but I appreciated the nuance in that distinction.

Exactly! What’s becoming so obvious to people now is that colonialism has never ended just rebranded with different terms. From Natives indigenous people being called “savages” in the old days to now being called “terrorist” by neocolonialists who are neoliberals, neoconservatives, and zionist.
      1) Savages is now “terrorist”
      2) Civilizing them is now “bringing them democracy”
      3) Colonies is now “territories”
We can all see Israel is a colonial project being supported by former and current colonials such as U.S, UK, and others who also control territories of indigenous natives in Caribbean Islands, Pacific Islands, Hawaii, and many more.
The liberation of Palestine will definitely give RISE to many indigenous natives around the world to free themselves from western domination. This is the underlying ripple effect that the U.S government and its puppet allies don’t want to happen

      the complication is the justification.
how do u justify something so obviously bad? making it full of complications that make it needed.
there is no other way to justify it.

"I am somewhat confounded by the notion that what I say and what I label and the words I use should be guided by how many powerful people are going to get angry at me. What is the use in being a writer? . . . If we are going to write, we are supposed to say what we see. . .There are a great many things in America that are not said. But the reasons those things are not said are not for any reasons any writer of integrity should respect". Absolutely beautiful. More writers like this man.

The thing that’s throwing me for a loop is that the controversial journalist or influencers like Candace Owen’s or Joe Rogan are the ones with Integrity who declined to be compromised by money or opportunities when speaking on Israel’s war crimes. I am just confused AF that individuals like Anderson cooper can snap on a guest when they tried discussing Gaza but call Candace Owen’s antisemite for saying she’s not okay with children innocent men and women being killed.

This powerful interview brought up a lot for me thinking back to my life growing up in 80s apartheid SA. White South Africans were demonized by the rest of the world for their racist mindset and for imposing segregation in the towns and cities, stealing farmland etc. SA became a true democracy relatively peacefully in the mid 90s, which gives me some hope. Thank you Ta-Nehisi.

What is a good man but a bad man's teacher.
What is a bad man but a good man's job.
If you don't understand this you will get lost. No matter how intelligent you are. It is the great secret.
Success is as dangerous as failure.
Hope is as hollow as fear.
What does it mean that success is a dangerous as failure?
Whether you go up the ladder or down it, your position is shaky.
When you stand with your two feet on the ground, you will always keep your balance.
What does it mean that hope is as hollow as fear?
Hope and fear are both phantoms that arise from thinking of the self.
When we don't see the self as self,
what do we have to fear?
See the world as your self.
Have faith in the way things are.
      Love the world as your self;
then you can care for all things.
Look, and it can't be seen.
Listen, and it can't be heard.
Reach, and it can't be grasped.
      The superior person's
      dwelling is the good earth,
Their mind is the good deep water,
Their associates are good kind people,
      Their speech shows good trust,
Their governing is the good order,
Their projects are carried out by good talents,
Their activities are good in time.
      Whoever is stiff and inflexible
      is a disciple of death
      Whoever is soft and yielding
      is a disciple of life
      The hard and stiff
      will be broken
      The soft and the supple
      will prevail
      When they think
      that they know the answers,
      people are difficult to guide.
When they know that they don't know,
people can find their own way.
If you want to learn how to govern,
      avoid being clever or rich.
The simplest pattern is the clearest.
      Content with an ordinary life,
you can show all people the way
back to their own true nature.
The mark of a moderate man
is freedom from his own ideas.
If powerful men and women could remain centered in the Tao, all things would be in harmony. The world would become a paradise. All people would be at peace, and the law would be written in their hearts
She who is centered in the Tao
can go where she wishes, without danger.
She perceives the universal harmony, even amid great pain, because she has found peace in her heart.
      The Tao doesn't take sides,
it gives birth to both good and evil.
      The Master doesn't take sides;
she welcomes both saints and sinners...
      Hold on to the center.
      If you overesteem great men,
      people become powerless.
      If you overvalue possessions,
      people begin to steal.
      - Lao Tzu The Dao & Its Virtues
      -•-
      Trickery succeeds sometimes,
      but it always commits suicide.
The reality of the other person
is not what he reveals to you,
but in what he cannot reveal to you.
Therefore, if you would understand him, listen not to what he says
but rather to what he does not say.
      Government is an agreement
      between you and myself.
      You and myself
      are often wrong.
Crime is either another name of need
or an aspect of a disease.
      How heedless you are

Friendship is always a sweet responsibility, never an opportunity.
You owe more than gold to him
      who serves you.
      Give him of your heart
      or serve him.
      Your friend
      is your needs
      answered.
Generosity is giving more than you can, and pride is taking less than you need.
Generosity is not in giving me
that which I need more than you do,
but it is in giving me
that which you need more than I do.

      Marcus Aurelius wrote,

      Marcus Aurelius, Meditations
The best revenge is living well.

A really great man is known by three signs-generosity in the design,
      humanity in the execution,
      AND
      moderation in success.
      -Bismarck.
This is the part of a great man,
after he has maturely weighed all circumstances,
      to punish the guilty,
      to spare the many,
and in every state of fortune
not to depart from an upright,
      virtuous conduct.
      -Cicero.

      -Alexander Smith.

who be mastered by no one.
      -Kahlil Gibran
Don't underestimate the depth of wisdom by the simplicity by which it may be written or spoken.
A great deal of work goes into making something appear so simple or easy.
The obvious is that which is never seen until someone expresses it simply.
A capacity, a taste for reading, gives access to whatever has already been discovered by others.
      It is the key,
      to the already solved problems.
      And not only so.
It gives a relish, a facility,
      for successfully pursuing .
      the [yet] unsolved ones.
      - President Abraham Lincoln
By three methods we may learn wisdom.
First, by reflection which is noblest
Second, by imitation, which is the easiest

Third, by experience, which is the bitterest.
      - Confucius

      Work is love

      and
      take alms of those
      who work with joy.
      They deem me mad
      because I will not sell my days for gold;
      And I deem them mad
because they think my days have a price.
      -Kahlil Gibran
"There is nothing people like more than to contribute to another's well-being. But know, there are people who find pleasure in the suffering of others (a form of violence).
"... All violence is the result of people tricking themselves into believing that their pain derives from other people and that consequently those people deserve to be punished."

I think he’s established enough to take that chance, but as he says he doesn’t give a fu€k. It would be a denial of his entire identity to not speak. You’re right, this is groundbreaking for Palestinians. An intellectual who is admired by Obama who himself doesn’t have the balls to speak out. And Obama knows better.

@jockstrappery It's not that they're blind. It's that someone is blinding them. Honestly, We should feel proud that it takes literally trillions of dollars of propaganda to get people to willingly go to the wrong side on this matter. And even after all that we find it's still not fully working In the modern day.
It's important to remember that in earlier ages of Mankind than this one. There would have been essentially no controversy. Only archeologists and the bones would have been able to report this injustice to us.

The rape of European women. The list goes on and on. This didn’t start in 2023. This began in 634 with the Muslim invasion of Byzantine Syria. The patience of the West has ended. Thank you Mohamed and Ta-Nehisi for this beautiful moment.
excellent questions and opportunities for brilliant insight and informed exchange.
Punish democrats segment was handled so well - Mohamed I hear your description clearly of what is worse? When challenged with trump will do worse.
Thank you Ta-Nehisi for saying you won’t finger wag about Trump at a people suffering a genocide.
It’s important for me to frame this question by considering what the people (who insists it will be worse for Arabs under Trump) are doing and saying in support of Arabs now. Where will they be in the fight to resist either administration’s participation in genocide after the election.
I agree with Ta-Nehisi-I don’t think the pragmatics are good. I would add here; I also have acted in a similar spirit as Ta-Nehisi has described in holding the democrats accountable and in hopes of pre election affirmative actions on Middle East. That train has left the station.
    Love this:
“We are practicing and funding what we claim to have overcome. We are doing it somewhere else”, paraphrasing.
The question Mohamed poses along the lines of; How do you feel About the optics and reality of the Black members of the administration and UN supporting the genocide?
Ta-Nehisi responded beautifully with- in any order there will always be the people who ultimately will buy in completely, wholly that will always be the case.
Ta-Nehisi -“ I do have to reinforce this point,
The first people to call for a ceasefire in Congress were all people of color”.
DNC no Palestinian-voices- not just a mistake -it was Cold and inhumane -there was a huge diversity party going on.
    Ta-Nehisi-
“I’ll speak As a black American who has to choose between people who are openly evil. And people you’re not clear would do any better.”
I had to play this back a few times. The first thing I heard was a softball description of Kamala. I heard we have to wait and see what she will do. That isn’t what Ta-Nehisi said.
I really appreciate the words,”not sure if they will do better”.
I’m decided based on the current administration’s actions for the past year.
I have spent thousands of hours reading and watching and listening to experts and following the daily rhetoric and angles of the state Department spokes people and administration heads and policy makers.
All of whom share the same speaking points which include characterize Arabs as terrorist while framing Israeli military aggression as defending themselves. Israel has been able to act uninterrupted for a year with total impunity in partnership with the U.S.
The Democratic platform is not a departure from this unchanged course.
Most citizens who want to believe in the Democratic Party wouldn’t characterize the passive voice to describe tens of thousands of killed Palestinians as evil or racist. They wouldn’t describe the constant misplace use of self-defense or defending itself to describe the military actions of Israel over a year in Gaza as a clear US supported genocide and ethnic cleansing.
I don’t rely on the term evil as a descriptive of Trump or the Democratic Party because racist, anti-Arab,Islamophobia and dehumanizing are more effective and more accurate descriptions of both in actions and in words.

When I talk to people, they are not aware of it. Even my family. They actually reject because the media not only cover it - they reframe it to the point of lying. And pushback of being called anti-semetic is fierce. It's tragic. And the world is watching the US.
