Reposting from below for those that have the missing files issue on mac: Inside the “Motion Templates” folder, create folders called “Titles”, “Effects”, “Transitions” and “Generators”. If you dowloaded a title, it has to be put inside a category folder, inside the Titles folder. The category folder can be named anything that makes sense for you. This name will appear in FCP X. Put the whole downloaded folder of your title inside the desired category folder. The “Titles”, “Effects”, “Generators” and “Transitions” folders must be “localized”: to do this, select each of these in the Finder, press command-I and in the Get Info window add .localized to the folder name. This extension is automatically hidden but must be present for FCP X to recognize them.
As @Schwab informed below, you need to add a .localized file extension to your Motion Templates/Titles folder. Titles.localized name&extension did the trick for me!
Hi. This does not work for me. I do have titles in fcpx but there is no title folder in motion template. I created a title folder and added the layer but still no result. Do you know what could be the reason?
@@isaiahsears4660 someone actually made a comment here on this video. But I can’t remember. They do explain the details left out in the the video though. Sorry not helpful. I can’t even remember but I think you have to create the folders yourself if you don’t already have them.

thanks for this mate amazing again - any idea if you can save adjustment layers as a title or effect (especially when using adjustment layers to create color templates) any advice would be amazing
i tried to share my fcp project to another cutter to finish the video, while he wasn't able to see my set colorgrade on the adjustmentlayer - any ideas!? :( (I sent him the plugin & he installed it successfully! But when I try to share it, it's gone for him)
You know, Apple always boasts about how they are so design oriented and that they would only release something great. The fact that an editing application doesn't have something like an Adjustment Layer is just hilarious.
I didn't realize you had to have the Adjustment Layer at any specific fps. Checked and answered my own question... Yes, the 24pfs Adjustment Layers are in 23.98fps. :)
Sky, help me understand, I also did not realize I had to have the specific fps in the Adjustment Layer. The adjustment layer I use is not fps specific. So, what do you mean by 'answered my own question'? Thanks
I actually checked again, and found that they all conform to the project frame rate. There’s no need to have one for every frame rate as far as I can tell.

That's fine until you want to make a change 😫You have to go back to each and every clip to make the change. Using groups as found in Cinema Grade (known as grade management) you can make individual clip correction AND when you want to update the "look" you can do it one place for ALL clips.
I don't have a Titles folder inside the Motion Templates folder. I've just started using the FCPX trial right now. Where might my Titles folder be hiding?
Hi Laurie! If there isn’t a Titles folder, you'll need to create one. If after doing that it still doesn’t work, it might be a limitation of the trial.
But if you work on the M1 chip, fcpx has a harder learning curve, but wayyy more satisfying and optimize!! It depends on the time you wanna put into learning it. But i would say fcpx is faster once you get use to it
I’ve used FCP for years and Davinci seemed too complicated to bother with when I last checked. When you’ve found what you like, why change. I’m sure millions of Davinci users would say the same!

@@colorgradingcentral Hi Denver, I solved the problem I was having. I am using FCPX 10.4.6 on Mojave. Apparently this version is older than the Adjustment layer version download. When I would load the adjustment layer plugin, I would simply get a red exclamation mark (!). So, the solution was to adjust the version's viability by altering the plugin's code version numbers. Here is a URL that solves this issue starting at 1:49 for anyone using a FCPX version for an older OS: ua-cam.com/video/XCgNSm6mgMU/v-deo.html. Thanks for all your videos, I've learned a lot!

No, since it’s a ‘Title’ it doesn’t have a frame rate. It conforms to whatever FPS you’re using.
