Yeah, they eat cucumber and tomatoes. Maybe cabbage. Carrots and potatoes in the raised beds is ridiculous. But, not my circus, so whatever the monkeys want is fine.
I saw greens of all kinds, ocra, peppers, green beans and other beans, onions, garlic, strawberries. They showed a lot of canned foods they put up. It takes time to get a new garden producing well.

Have you thought rain barrel where water drains off the roof a minimum55 gallon barrel size, some people use the big square containers that you pest control in, was really thourghly. I live in Fl. we have gully washes, tropical depressions and hurricanes. One tropical d. Wowed had 5 nonstop days of rain, there was a foot of mud, water in high school, clean up, dry wall replacement, an act of God…
