This song always gets stuck in my head! Awesome song! 'She's a real sad tomato, she's a busted valentine'.. you just don't get lyrics like this anymore!
Chandler Cobb I wish I can read the book but my knowledge in English is so poor... maybe, in sha Allah, someday I will read the whole book and enjoy it, understanding every word in it
You know, the people who know her only from Murder She Wrote have no idea how gorgeous she was in her younger days. Not only that, she could sing as well....not just that stuff from the animated Disney movies, but there is a video here on YT showing her in a performance of "Gypsy" doing "Everything's Coming Up Roses."
Curt Thompson is one of the RPG Drama Club. He compared me and Pundit to David Duke and Strom Thurmond--and if Lauren Bacall ever met him she'd kick him in the balls.
What an absolutely bizarre and out-of-place song, making light of someone enduring beatings at home…WTF, who was responsible for choosing this song to be in a film? Just ruins the scene and the chemistry they could be portraying by distracting the viewer with gruesome imagery
It does seem odd that the patrons are joyfully singing about domestic violence. But then this was pre-feminism Hollywood. No one blinked when women were popped in the mouth or got their eyes blackened every now and then to (stay in their place).
1. Repulsive but catchy song makes wife-beating into a joke, inviting us to sing along. 2. Bogart is way too old for Bacall 3. Casino girl looks a lot more interesting than Bacall and may eventually run the nightclub post-Johnny Mars. 4. Bacall may be too patrician for many people's taste. Otherwise, it's sheer movie magic!

Lauren Bacall was absolutely intoxicating.
Those backup singers, tho!! What harmony!
"and her tears flowed like wine"
the most famous recording of it is by anita o'day
Masterpiece by Howard Hawks...great cast, incredibile and gorgeous Lauren...the book is different but still a Raymond Chandler's masterpiece
I love this woman, she is my idol!
One of best movies of all time with two of the best actors. Bogey got the best-looking girl for sure.
I'm 17 and have a voice like her lauren was beautiful
The book is extremely depressing but the movie is oddly uplifting and happy.
That's Hollywood's Hays Code for ya :)
How is it depressing? I havn't read it myself
Chandler Cobb I wish I can read the book but my knowledge in English is so poor... maybe, in sha Allah, someday I will read the whole book and enjoy it, understanding every word in it
I love this....too bad it was cut off before it actually ended!
RIP Unforgettable.
She was a sob-sob sister…
My oh my how that baby could cry….
Magnificent.
Lies lies and lies! You idiot 😂😂😂!
Her voice was really deep, more so in To Have And Have Not. Doris Day is still the best singer from the " way back when " movies.
I agree to the fullest extent
Im so glad my mom named me after her:)
Ffs she is so god damn good looking
RIP.
dramatic classic type
me too!
i love this song!
do you know what the name of it is?
“A Little Romance”
don't forget angela lansbury, who is just gorgeous in picture of dorian grey and in gaslight.

This one's for Curt Thompson

Zak Smith He did? Well, that's bullshit.
plus.google.com/+DavidHillJr/posts/3sygwxi1SQL oh look he took it down, but it's here:

Zak Smith Oh God, that thread. With all the red state/blue state comparisoning (boy is that telling of mindset) and the whole self-ejection thing. :(
I preferred "Haldeman and Erlichman." I think that was Fred Hurley making that analogy. I was wondering who that made Nixon, though.
Grandmother from Rumania

Out of sync.
That song is so political incorrect....
Geez, she has a distinctive voice but it's really lousy.
Why does this seem to me embarrassing somehow?

Grew up with these classics. Thanks for the laugh
@@constantreader8760 "Bogart is way too old for Bacall" Funfact: They married after that movie.
