- Swami Sarvapriyananda teaches Verses 22-26 from the third chapter of the Bhagavad Gita. This series of talks unfolds the highest truths of Vedanta through the study of "The song of God".
🔆Bhagavad Gita: Chapter 3, Verse 22:
न मे पार्थास्ति कर्तव्यं त्रिषु लोकेषु किञ्चन |
नानवाप्तमवाप्तव्यं वर्त एव च कर्मणि || 22||
na me pārthāsti kartavyaṁ triṣhu lokeṣhu kiñchana
nānavāptam avāptavyaṁ varta eva cha karmaṇi
🔴I have, Arjuna! no duty whatever to discharge in all the three worlds; there is nothing I have not won, and nothing remains to be won by Me; still I ceaselessly work.
🔆Bhagavad Gita: Chapter 3, Verse 23:
यदि ह्यहं न वर्तेयं जातु कर्मण्यतन्द्रित: |
मम वर्त्मानुवर्तन्ते मनुष्या: पार्थ सर्वश: || 23||
yadi hyahaṁ na varteyaṁ jātu karmaṇyatandritaḥ
mama vartmānuvartante manuṣhyāḥ pārtha sarvaśhaḥ
🔴 Indeed O Arjuna! if at any time, I do not work tirelessly, men will in all possible ways, tread that path of Mine.

उत्सीदेयुरिमे लोका न कुर्यां कर्म चेदहम् |
सङ्करस्य च कर्ता स्यामुपहन्यामिमा: प्रजा: || 24||
utsīdeyur ime lokā na kuryāṁ karma ched aham
sankarasya cha kartā syām upahanyām imāḥ prajāḥ
🔴If i don't work the worlds will perish; I may cause confusion, and may ruin these living beings.
🔆Bhagavad Gita: Chapter 3, Verse 25:
सक्ता: कर्मण्यविद्वांसो यथा कुर्वन्ति भारत |
कुर्याद्विद्वांस्तथासक्तश्चिकीर्षुर्लोकसंग्रहम् || 25||
saktāḥ karmaṇyavidvānso yathā kurvanti bhārata
kuryād vidvāns tathāsaktaśh chikīrṣhur loka-saṅgraham
🔴 Prince of the Bharata line! Just as the ignorant work with the attachment to that work, so should the wise work, unattached, seeking the world's integration.
🔆Bhagavad Gita: Chapter 3, Verse 26:
न बुद्धिभेदं जनयेदज्ञानां कर्मसङ्गिनाम् |
जोषयेत्सर्वकर्माणि विद्वान्युक्त: समाचरन् || 26||
na buddhi-bhedaṁ janayed ajñānāṁ karma-saṅginām
joṣhayet sarva-karmāṇi vidvān yuktaḥ samācharan
🔴 The integrated man of wisdom should not bewilder the mind of the ignorant attached to works; performing them all, let him cause them (also) to do so.

Thanks for this great talk. I for one distinguish living spirituality from organized religion in the form it has developed over the ages. We would need a spiritual civilization on Earth in which everything in life would be seen as a spiritual experience and where all leaders would have the high standard and ethics as demonstrated by someone like Swami Sarvapriyananda. A big clean-up is necessary before that..

When the universe is an appearance, and brahman is the only reality, and to attain enlightenment Swami Sarvapriyananda had joined the Ramakrishna order, and since then serving the RK order, meditating, teaching AV, etc... why did he find it important to be a Nagral fellow at the Harward Divinity School? What did he think he will learn elsewhere, that he didn't get from AV?
