Never seen English daisies look like that. They look more like Asters . Happy Birthday Anna🎉
I was about to say that.
Well, asters are in the same plant family (Asteraceae) as the wild daisies in our lawns and fields.
I was going to comment the same! 😂
Was about to say they dont look like ox eye daisies, the classic daisy chain daisy.......erm....can you find ox eye daisies in america?XXX
Happy birthday Anna you look very pretty today, hair done, nails done even toenails done. Annuals only grow one year, perennials come back every year and biannual you plant in year one to flower year 2.
You'll need garden sticks ro tie the sunflowers so they don't snap in half as they grow. I think they would look stunning growing up the outside walls of your house
Or they could get some hooks on the wall, and use flowerwire :)
I agree
little bamboo canes work a charm for it, but you are indeed correct.. the sticks are a must if you want a good flower
Did anyone send u irn bru am Scottish and a trout fisherman .
When you said exciting news and hugged Anna I was not expecting a podcast
You def need a netting over the strawberries to keep pests from eating them
Annuals need to be sown every year. Perennials are planted once & left. 😉
@brianbrotherston5940 Are you a troll? Everyone is new at something at least once in their lives..
I'd use screws to hold your flower boxes together JT, once that wood gets wet & when it starts to expand, shrink & warp, those little staples will just pop right back out.
Wow Anna!! Woohoo! Looking gorgeous 😍
Happy Birthday Anna. Hair looks gorgeous. Don’t forget to water every day and you may need to support the tomato plants
looking lovely, Anna!
Well JT, I think it is beard trimming time again. OK now gardening tips, the tomatoes will need some sticks to grow against and the strawberry's will need some straw around the base so the fruit doesn't rot on the ground. 👍👍👍👍👍 ps happy birthday Anna ❤
Happy b'day new hair style is banging. honestly thought the new announcement was that a little one was incoming lol.
Me too
I thought a wedding announcement
Definitely best to keep strawberries contained. They will take over the place
You can always start the sunflowers in a pot and then transplant them when you are ready
@@brianbrotherston5940 a flower pot
either get a longer water hose or buy a watering can, would make watering those plants a lot lot easier
Dont forget the birds , rabbits , mice and slugs that love young plants and seeds . Some netting could help
Cut to next P.O Box Opening 12 Watering Cans!! lol Annual (just one year) Perennial (come back year after year)
I'm sure someone will find a Highland Cow Watering Can somewhere 😂
@@WeAreThePeople1690 u can get highland cow wellies
😂😂
Only water first thing in the morning or even better last thing at night when it is not hot. For seeds, try growing them in your window for a month spraying them first thing in the morning to moisten them. Plant the seeds 5mil under loose soil and they should be fine. Good luck!
The wild flowers are the best, they will look lovely in the summer. Love your garden projects the best! 👍🏻💕🇬🇧
Make sure to feed the peppers and tomatoes. Something with an NPK (Nitrogen/Phosphorus/Potassium) rating of 5-10-10 or 5-10-5 is good for both. Also don't forget to stay on top of the watering.
Make sure to protect your strawberry plants with netting. Cats are attracted to the leaves as they contain a chemical profile that is similar to that found in catnip. Cats can and will decimate the plants if thay are not protected.
put some netting over the plants to protect them a bit. dogs and cats are good at digging.
key to them strawberry roots is take them and change their soil and spread them out more every season and you could grow loads every year
Oh and top tip for seed sowing small seeds, mix with a little flour then you can see where you have sown.
A Garden is any area of land attached to a house, which may include grass lawns, flower beds, vegetable plots, ponds, trees & bushes, & decorative paths etc etc
What you are calling a raised garden, is just a raised flower bed or vegetable plot.
A Yard is a hard floored area, usually quite small, surrounded by walls & buildings, often between & behind houses here in the UK on Victorian era town streets. Hence most are 'back yards'. They rarely have space for plants of any sort because they are essentially working spaces. Yards may be bigger, if for specific purposes, e g Farm Yards, Stable Yards etc, again these are working areas surrounded by buildings. The open areas within Castles are also yards. So Americans have taken the word for the small hard spaces behind houses to represent the much wider context of the Garden. Gardens can extend to acres of land, whereas yards are restricted walled in areas. A piece of ground planted with flowers is a flower bed. A similar area for vegetable growing is a vegetable plot, or if a bit larger may be called a vegetable patch. There are areas in most towns for growing things, not attached to houses, that are rented usually from the local council, in a number of plots. These are called allotments, where individuals may grow flowers or produce. They originated in Victorian times for people who only had back yards & not gardens. How often do you expect to be attacked by bees? In my 70 + years of life I have been stung be bees twice, a wasp once, & horseflies a couple of times. Bees aren't looking to sting anybody, unless you bother them. Bees are essential for propagation & the future of the planet. They don't look like English Daisies, more like Asters.
Make sure you pinch some leaves out the pepper plants so they grow more bushy rather than a spindly stick plant, it will make it stronger and produce more fruits
Anna you looked so pretty for your Birthday!! Did you have A wonderful time? You always look pretty BTW . You two & the animals even the little raised garden make me smile if not A little bit jealous as its trounced it down (rained) & not much of anything else here in North West England. Dont forget JT You need to talk to those plants to make them grow☺🤗
A little tip if you suffer with slugs n snails which i think you mentioned in a previous vid, crush up some egg shells and sprinkle them over the soil. Only water at night when the sun sets as the heat boils the plants if wet.
Tomato will need a cane to grow up and when it starts to grow you will need to pinch put the side leaves that start to grow so the plant grows up rather than out and that way you will get a alot more tomatoes 🍅 too, just look it up it will help you better x
Good work xx sorry to disappoint you but annuals only flower the once, perennials flower every year. Looking forward to seeing them grow xxx
Just put the sunflowers in the ground with a little bit of potting soil by the house and they should be good 👍 I'd also spread a load of wildflower seeds all over the lawn it's great for the wildlife looks beautiful plus it means you don't need to cut your lawn until after the flowers have gone to seed at the end of the summer and they'll come back every year .
Anna is like a magician's glamorous assistant.
I love Charlie’s gangly little back legs waddling lol so cute
I know I have said it too many times, but I am so jealous of how much land you guys have! In either UK or Ireland it would cost millions!!! You guys are so lucky, so make the most of what you have, plant trees, plants and flowers everywhere! You even have your own lake! WOW!
Anna hope you had a great birthday, and thoroughly enjoy watching you an JT, good luck with your plants
have fun with the gardening.
If I were you I'd get some fine netting to put over the tops pf those boxes, as Bo (Beau/Beaux?) is just going to think "Ooh look, a nice big litter box!!"
Oh, and that looked like some sort of toadstool/fungus rowing in the box- you need to fill it up further so there are no damp areas.
Hi, I just want to say thank you so much for making me smile and laugh out loud. My husband passed December last year and I have tried to remain positive and keep myself busy. When I was feeling low I happened to come across you whilst surfing UA-cam. Since then, I have been watching you daily, and you give me a much added boost. Your personalities and smiles and fur babies are uplifting. Good luck with everything. I will continue to stay tuned. Much love, happiness and good health to you both and your fur babies. ❤❤
If you germinate using the paper towel method so the seed have broken out of there shells before planting you'll have better results 😉
Love your hair Anna!!! Hope they all grow.
I worked as a Green keeper for 10 years. I don't claim to be an expert but I could give some good advice. Btw I am fae Troon. The birthplace of open golf
Ok Guys. Wash your hands, it washing up liquid and sugar. Gets your hands clean and soft, even after engine stuff. Far, Far cheaper that store stuff. Also if you get Oil on your pants!!!! Again, squeeze some wash up liquid and rub the sugar in!!! A good rub then wash as normal.❤❤
Also, if you’ve been chopping onions, garlic or anything stinky. This is going too sound stupid!!! But rub your hands on the tap it draining board. Anything stainless steel. That lingering smell 👃!! Gone. Trust me, I’m an ex Baker / Cook.
It sounds stupid, but it actually works. Over here, you can actually buy steel soap. Youse your tap and drainer 👍💕🙏❤️
A bit disappointed with only being able to watch the Cheese and Rice podcast, if u become a channel member, can’t afford to join! (cost of living crisis in the Uk biting hard!!) Good luck with it tho!! 👍🏻x
I don't even have a bank account so I can't join either unfortunately ☹.
I'm in the same boat 😢. Hate that UA-cam even made it a thing when literally thousands do it for free
I totally agree, being on a pension prohibits joining, so disappointed!!

@@robertroberts8648 still, like I said thousands do it for free so why make us pay.
The British daisies are Perennials will return every year but the wild flowers are annuals which need to be sown every year unless they self seed.
Usually wild flowers do better in ordinary poorer soil rather than rich compost but the English Daisies should love it.
My wife and I always find it amusing when you say you’re going to get ‘dirt’ (we always say ‘soil’ when we are talking about the stuff we have in our gardens for plants to grow); for us dirt is just what you get on your clothes, hands etc that needs to be washed away or the stuff you brush up to throw in the rubbish/trash.
What you call garden soil we call potting/garden compost because it contains a significant amount of composted organic matter (the smell you got was from the rotting organic matter in the “soil”). My dad did a lot of gardening and grew most of our vegetables, so we regularly had a delivery of cow/horse manure that we would have to barrow from the street to his manure pile. I grew up handling the stuff (often with my bare hands) and grew fond of the sweet smell, even now I love the smell in the countryside.
Love seeing you two journeying and building your home!
Happy Birthday Anna! Hair and makeup looks lovely, you rocking them lashes ♥
You’re looking lovely Anna, it’s nice sometimes to use a bit of make up, and fuss with our hair, it’s lovely to do, but lovely not to have to bother, either ❤
Anna looks absolutely amazing ❤ JT you need to make her part of the Kelly clan ASAP officially! That aside love the video and keep up the good work 🎉
Aslong as the compost doesn't have a mouldy smell you'll be fine, compost will smell but should not smell like mould, a strong smelling compost is usually better quality in my experience. ( on top of the compost for veg adding stuff in to th3 compost such as worm castings, bone meal, seaweed, chicken manure, will boost the plants amazingly, these products all contain NPK which are the essential compounds for plant growth and are also organic.)
miracle grow, has all the fertilizers in it, so that things will grow miraculously
Try making your own compost, it's easy.
Do they not do bigger bags of compost? You should make your own!
You look lovely Anna hope you had a lovely birthday 🎉
Aww. Cute vid. Me mums dog is the same she loves the hose lol.
Me sisters dog on the other hand hates it lol.
One thing that grows well in most climates is potatoes. We've done it either last year or year before. Tomatoes and fruit aswell. Then again we live in a wet climate. (Apples, rhubarb, berries mainly). A lot of the othernstuff is shipped in from overseas lol. Can buy many other fruit trees but many you need a green house to help grow. Lol.
Have a good week. Hope your crops grow well. 🙂🇬🇧 xx
Belated Happy Birthday Anna, I hope you had a lovely day! With the wild flowers, just find a patch of garden that you don’t really use, away from the house and just throw the seed around like you would with grass seed, you could also plant a Buddleia bush( sometimes called a butterfly bush) but make sure to cut it back a bit every year or it’ll get huge! Obviously you need to water the patch every other day or so but other than that, you just leave it to the bees and butterflies.you can buy the wild flower seed in bulk, otherwise it’ll cost a fortune with those little packets.😊
Compressing stinging nettles and or confrey with a bit of water in a plastic tub makes great, free plant food.
Love how your garden is coming along. Anna, you look fabulous!! I've had a little funeral service for the baby mice ❤
You have some crazy pet's 😂😂😂
I'm surprised that cat doesnt use the raised beds as a litter tray
Anna looks amazing 😍
Great job on potting boxes ,hope you get something from your plants ,good luck 😊😊xx❤️🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🌺🦋🌺🦋🏠
Hope you are ok dute to tornado s nice to see you gadening
I recently bought an apple, an orange a pear and a tomato. I took the seeds out and planted them and what do you know they are all growing!!!!!!
Plant seeds and cover the box with pastic cover it Will help the seeds grow really good
I'm gonna make a bold early call... the sunflowers, planted around the pond, with access to that water, will grow more than 7ft.
I am growing some chocolate brown sunflowers I will let you know how they go
Wild flowers don’t need to be planted you can sow them anywhere. You should get some poppy seeds wild or normal as they will eventually self sow.
Happy birthday Anna 🎉🎊🥳🎈🎁🎂
Hi JT, I've been looking around youtube and, UA-cam are not paying out so be careful and keep you eye on them you youtube cash. Good look and love the video.
Anna you look stunning ❤
You should sprinkle the wild flower seeds over the ground so they just come up in your yard
Anna you look bloody gorgeous, Great Video ❤👍
Those daisies are actually Bellis daisies, I used to grow them at my old house, hubby won't let me grow flowers anymore, he's worse than Victor Meldrew.
Part way through I could hear chickens in the background - you should get hold a load of their muck as it’s a great fertiliser for fruit and vegetables - we can buy it sterilised in large containers at garden centres here in the UK if you don’t know a chicken farmer looking to get rid of chicken sh*t. Don’t put it on you wild flower seeds though, most wild flowers don’t need much nutrient
Love watching you guys. Can I suggest you watch UK series Gardeners World, been going for decades. You need to plant seeds in seed trays, then pot on to let them gain strength & then put into your raised beds. 👩🌾
Strawberries produce runners that plant themselves a carry on.
So you will soon have a full crop.
Omg Anna ya look amazing and happy birthday. Jt ya don't look bad ya self 😂. All the best have the best day ❤
JT Fit like mannie foos yer doos loon? Peckin a hope. Hope ye git a muckle puckle o' veggies. Good luck with your new podcast venture and you raised garden. I have no boubt that Bo will fertilise if for you, cats just love soft new soil 🤣
Hello from Nottingham UK sending hugs and well wishes, your doing amazing in growing your channel I hope it continues and great things happen as you are a lovely couple who deserve it 🥰🥰
Sorry ...take this as a compliment .... Anna , all I could picture when you turned ti camera ....was the TV comedy animated show family guy....
Stewies mom .... it may have been your glasses shape....p.s. they're cool.
I just love your videos
I love rosemary and thyme, garlic! . No point having veg without seasonings!
Happy birthday Anna, love your hair, looking lovely, hope your seeds grow xx
When you said that you had a "HUGE announcement", I was expecting for you to say that Anna was pregnant or you had booked your tickets to come over to the UK!
Happy Birthday Anna, from South West England :D
If you get certain seeds that don't grow for you ...look up seed germination ... basically some seeds ,may need certain conditions to help them start .
Not usually what we as gardeners usually cone across... but if you struggle it may help.
Anna you are so pretty ❤
Annuals dont come back every year, they need to be re-sown every year, Perennials can be sown once and come back year after year
Already naturally gorgeous Anna glammed up😍
Happy Birthday Anna
Happy birthday Anna, you look amazing. As always!
Beau was giving his parents a gift 😊
Happy Birthday xxx
looking forward to the Cheese and Rice Podcast
Hi both ! I think I’ve told you before that with cherry tomatoes you can plant them upside down and the tomatoes Will happily grow like this, flower and fruit so that if they hang just outside your front door they are available to pick as you go outside, snack like!.
Have a go, it’ll be an experiment anyway. Good luck withe endeavours.
With the sunflower you could plant one by the house. All you have to do is dig hole about a foot wide, put in compost about a foot deep and plant 3 seeds in the centre. The three seeds are so when they spout to about three to six inches, then prick or if you prefer pull out the two which are the weakest. And let the one grow on just outside the house this is so you can get seeds from it and also to feed some of your local bird life and also you can see this bloody big flower and seed head growing above your house for recognition. You will be able to tell which is yours then!!!! Easy peasy, lemon squeezey!
Cheers both!
Oh ! Just seen your English Daisies, I think they are really called Erigeron karvinskianus or Mexican fleabane. If they are and you can plant them on the edge of your box and they will form a clump and will also cascade over the side. There you go, I think that’s what they are!
Happy birthday Anna!! You look very pretty 😃 You and JT are a fantastic couple. Best wishes from Doncaster UK
Only water plants every other day and not in full sunlight. Evening is best watering time.
anna looks absolutely stunning !! & you of course Lmao
I’m curious, why you plant your food garden so far from your house? And just flowers near your house..lol. Thought it would be other way round..so as you cooking you can duck out near and pick veggies needed from garden…🤷🏻♀️ maybe it’s just me then…🤔😄
Wow, look at Anna! Happy Birthday
Anna looks beautiful ❤
Are you not going on Twitch anymore? Take a bucket down to the plants. I tried joining your channel and it won't let me.
Daaaaaaam Anna's Hair is on point X
