Are You logging your scuba dives?
Lets look at why logging scuba dives is important and how to do it correctly:
    --------------
In this video we look at why a dive-log-book is an important item for every scuba diver to have and why logging Your dives, makes quite a bit of sense.
We will look at the different types of #loogbooks and what the relevant aspects to be logged after a #dive are.
Confirmation of experience: One reasons to log a dive are proving that dives have been carried out, by having them stamped and signed by a verified professional or #divecenter, which is necessary for those who want to progress with pro training such as #divemaster or above. Also certain locations wont allow You to access the water, unless You can prove a certain number of dives.
Equipment requirements / reference: Making notes about equipment configurations, especially concerning weight, is imperative and will help You to figure out how much weight You need in a given environment with a certain configuration.
Skill Improvement / Review: Writing down what happened during a dive by making notes about it will help us to review the dive and its specifics, as well as the way we responded to them, ultimately making us better divers.
Memory: Remembering the anecdotes of a dive, flora and fauna we saw, as well as the people we dove with. What´s best than going back to it in twenty years and bringing those memories back.
As a note, even though it may make a difference if somebody has 50 or 500 dives on paper, the number of dives a diver has, should not be a way to profile oneself or considering oneself better as others. Diving is not about competition but about improvement and respect and as a matter of fact, there are plenty of divers with hundreds of dives on paper, which in the water look worst than somebody with far less experience. ;-)

I lost my dive book and I'm so sad because I can't even remember how many I had logged. Need an electric log system.

Ohhh shoot :) That indeed is a bummer. An online log system is a good alternative - as a backup you could always get in touch with the divecenter you dove with, to try and piece together which dives you did. 💙💙👌🏻

I've been certified since 1989 with PADI and I lost my dive log 10 years ago and I'm getting back into diving now, I retired all my old diving gear and bought all new dive gear and a shearwater peregrine dive computer and a Ocean Reef full face mask, now since I no longer have a dive log from way back what do I need to do, I also lost my certification card along with my dive log, but I got a new one and a E-card incase I happen to lose my card again. I been training myself again in a friends pool and I still after so many years not diving I still have my skills. My question is I want to get full face certified and I don't have a dive log what do I do next so I can do it right, I'm going diving regardless with or with the full face mask certification, off the beach or off one of my friend's boat, but I like to do it the right way. Thank you
