- Welcome to the 5th episode of the current series I'm recording for Train Sim World 2. In this episode, we take a journey southbound along the full length of the Bakerloo Line in a 1972 stock train. Starting at Harrow & Wealdstone Turnback sidings, we then call at all stations through to the southern terminus of the route at Elephant & Castle.
You can find me on Facebook here:

Two points to make:
1. I am aware that at around 25:00, I mistakenly called Kensal Green station 'Kensal Rise'.
2. I am now aware that in the tunnels, in reality LU drivers can accelerate as the front of the train passes the speed board. This will make very little difference to timekeeping and how you drive in the tunnels, but wanted to make you aware that I now know about this. I won't be rerecording this video based on that information, as has been suggested, because it will make very little difference, and due to the many hours of work it takes to prepare and produce just one route learning episode!
Was literally just about to tell you that😂 anyway great video 👍
It’s fine PTGRail 😁😁
@thenewmodelbus05 it already has been released 😂 he already has done iow
I used to watch you back in the day like 2009 , and I’m back and happy to be here
I started the channel way back in 2014. I hope the quality of the videos got better over the years, particularly as my confidence has grown! Thank you for still being here :)
This channel is just about the right place. 😁
Hahaha! I say that phrase way too often!
@@PTGRail you definitely do! 😁😁
Thanks for uploading this route coloured brown. It was created by the Baker Street & Waterloo Railway that made the line. There are plans to extend it sometime in the future I think. And yes, there are four National Rail terminals, Paddington (gateway to Heathrow Airport, West Country and Wales including Cardiff), Marylebone (trains to Aylesbury, Warwick and Birmingham), Charing Cross (centrally located of the four, trains to Tunbridge Wells, Hastings, Ashford, Dover and Dartford) and Waterloo (trains to Portsmouth, Southampton, Salisbury, Weymouth as well as local services like Woking and Guildford). Embankment is a short walk from Charing Cross, a road called Villiers Street, off the Strand. London Overground trains share the same track with Bakerloo line trains between Harrow & Wealdstone and Queens Park. Above Willesden Junction station is the Overground line from Richmond, Stratford, etc going over. Oxford Circus, a busy West End area, so is Piccadilly Circus, both linking Regent Street.
You’re an awesome youtuber when it comes to great videos!!! 😁😁
The legends never die
It’s crazy how detailed this game is, literally every bit of detail is there, I travel north up to Watford everyday and it’s crazy to see how it looks literally no difference 🔥
I love the bakerloo line! So glad you made this video!
When I was an Electronics apprentice at GEC Traction in the mid-70's one of the jobs I had was building and wiring the oil-filled contactor engine that was used on this stock (and others). The clack-clack-clack noises you can hear on some of the external shots as the units pull away are the contactors being closed/opened to reduce resistance to the traction motor field coils. If you have ridden the Tube you may sometimes have felt and heard a bang and a lurch - thats an arc on the contactor copper contacts - indicating they probably need a service...
The pop sound? I remember when these use to be common with tube trains when most tube trains were from the 70s, around the 2000/late 90’s.
I love how informative this vids are! As I stated in a previous video I love to imagine your commentary as thoughts in the engineer’s head rather than speaking aloud. It quite helps with immersion
The hours I spend falling slowly to sleep to these video and the relaxing tone of both the video itself and the commentary. ❤️ those videos. I wish you’d do more TS20xx videos. I can’t leave that alone purely due to route lengths
Love you vids mate. The time you must put in to note (please tell me you use notes: otherwise you’re superhuman!) everything worth noting.
Congrats on another great upload 👍🏻👏🏻👏🏻
PTGRail, in an emergency, empty Bakerloo Line trains can proceed beyond Queens Park to Kilburn High Road to reverse - on the DC lines towards London Euston. As soon as the train reaches Kilburn High Road, it then head back to Queens Park by using a set of points outside of the station.
During normal operations, only London Overground class 378's can go beyond Queens Park to Kilburn High Road & London Euston.
Wooh! The Route we have been waiting for! Congrats on reaching 20K subs! Hopefully, we shall see the Train Simulator Videos coming soon...
Glad you back. Hope you had Fun and stay safe
Hi love your channel
Another great video many thanks.
my dad who is a train driver - Do you think this is a game!?"
me - "yes."
There's a keyboard shortcut to change cabs. Useful when changing destination displays.
My day just got better.
Your comment about the lack of AI trains on the WCML at the start of this journey is interesting. It seems a pity DT couldn't manage to produce at least a simple model of a relevant train to put in place to give some atmosphere. Fingers crossed that gets sorted out at some point in the future.
Like the 377! They operate Clapham Junction to Milton Keynes stoppers, so they don't have to investigate a lot on that trains
Nicely done👍🏼
Your voice is good to hear, and listen to, Im glad your back, Your route learning videos give me alot more train knowledge. Im glad your safe and back. The only problem with the videos recently is that your voice is rather quiet.
Back with a vengeance....!! Happy days. 😊👍
Why are there people in the train while it’s still in the sidings? Gotta love TSW.
cuz DTG
They aren't passengers, just...train inspectors 😉
They slept aboard after the train was stabled last night. Now, they're ready to go.
It's part of London Transport's little-known "Bed & Breakfast" scheme.
Dont worry about it they will fix it in train sim world 2 i'm sure....... oh.
@@slipknotsoad86 THIS is TSW 2
Great video enjoyed it very much .Take care
The funeral from Queen singer Freddie Mercury was at Kensal Green Cemetery. I traveled a lot with this subway when I was in London in 2012.
I've really been enjoying your videos since you've come back. I hope to see a lot more going forward.
One thing I've heard people say is that on the Underground it's apparently normal practice to treat speed signs as a point where you can increase speed when you approach it / pass it rather than waiting for the train to pass. That may help with keeping time, but not a lot. On the Overground shared lines apparently they don't allow that.
I can't imagine trying to keep these timetables, they seem rather stressful.
I didn't realise about the speed changes in the tunnels, but it would make almost no difference to accelerate one train length earlier, to have to immediately slow down again for another speed limit.
@@PTGRail Yeah, you're talking maybe a couple minutes for the whole line as a possibility. And as you mentioned it's very hard to see signs in the tunnels, and the drivers are probably not even looking at them as they know the route. It's down to memory at that point other than any changing track conditions such as delays and the like.
Just rewatched your Edinburgh to King's Cross video after almost 3 years. And now I am watching this, before watching your Arosalinie video. I hope that one day, the bring at least part of the ECML to TSW 2, along with the 91, and also the 800 (we really need a good IET/Azuma in general tbh XD). Really enjoying the comeback series :)
Great video
Whoohoo. I've been waiting for this episode, _of _*_this_*_ channel_ , since the game was released :)
Welcome back! :)
20:52 That's an unfortunate problem, the screens are protruding into the loading gauge and the train clips through them. As if this route didn't have enough low points already.
I noticed that! The biggest issue for me with this route is the missing small details - like the green stop markers on the wall at stations, and the blue number boards leaving stations showing you how much of the train has departed the platform.
Also some basic passenger AI would go a long way, a train packed full of passengers coming out of the sidings kills immersion for me. Even Omsi 2 has way better passenger AI!
Very cool!. I just got TSW3 (more like TSW2) but I love the bakerloo line, I'm not from London so idk how realistic the line is but for a 55 or so minute long trip it seems like a decent buy. Unless the Harlem line has a longer route and more stations I think they have me sold here.
Oxford Circus was quite lol
So when I was driving the 390 Pendilino from Euston I realized that that tube line was the Bakerloo which I also drive on
HES BACK! THE LEGEND
You're the best!
Ah yes the bakerloo line, the reason many of us got train sim world 2. The screenshots looked amazing when they were first teasing it and the route is amazing. Only things that ruin it is the lack of WCML AI and the 378 (as you mentioned) aswell as the elephant in the room being the quality of the motor sounds and some other minor sounds. There are some sound mods available from the community but somehow I can’t seem to get them to work, maybe you would have more luck installing the sound mods if you choose to install some mods in the future.
Great video as always Peter!
36:14 phones must be switched off or put on silence whilst in the cab. You’re off the duty roster now pending investigation!
Class 710’s seem more common on the Watford dc line now
@@PeteS_1994 they’re bloody everywhere now 😂
In view of the fact that London underground stations are decorated in such a way that each is recognisably different I have always thought Waterloo should be decorated like a Victorian gents toilet, green glazed tiles and all.
Kilburn park .. used to commute to there to get the Thameslink .. ahh happy days !
yes he is back!
YOUR BACK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
In a moment later when we’re at the tunnel we have to slow down our train to 35 or 25 or 30
YOU’RE BACK!
That station at 25:00 minutes is called Kensal green not Kensal rise
Ffs, you atre of course correct. Kensal Rise is a London Overground station on a different route. Not sure why I wrote Kensal Rise in my notes! I took all the station names straight off the HUD lol XD
now our speed limit is 45.
I like how you list the line the trip take splace on becuse in teh old videos u only gave destination points and i enjoy google mapping theroutes and some end points have multiple lines that can be taken so this allows me to know what line is being traveled as i like to look up wikapedia on all the settlments of a journey
You are able to accelerate once the front of the train passes the speed sign, but only in the underground section.
Why are there passengers on the train when you pull out of the siding

Hi, did you include any sound mods in this? I have noticed with Train Sim World the engine sound as well sound from the outside is incredibly reduced
Hello There I needed to know why they don’t dig a tunnel and do an extension for the main line Train so that they can extend the unused abandoned underground train stations. Why couldn’t they use the part D78 Stock train doors on the sides and also restructure the front face of the A60 and A62 stock and that includes the class 313, class 314 and class 315 remix and make them all together and also redesign them an overhead line and also make them into Five cars per units and also having three Disabled Toilets on those Five cars per units A60 and A62 stock trains and also convert the A60 and A62 stock trains into a Scania N112, Volvo B10M, Gardner 6LXB, Gardner 6LXC and Gardner 8LXB Diesel Engines and also put the Loud 7-Speed Voith Gearboxes even Loud 8-Speed Leyland Hydra cyclic Gearboxes in the A60 and A62 stock, class 313, class 314, and class 315 and also modernise the A60 and A62 stock and make it into an 11 car per unit so it could have fewer doors, more tables, computers and mobile phone chargers. A Stock Trains and also having 8 Disabled Toilets on those A stock trains. why couldn’t we refurbish and modernise the Waterloo and city line Triple-Track train tunnel and make it more Larger and extend it to the bank station, making it into a Triple-Track Railway Line so those Five countries such as Australia, Germany, Italy, Poland And Sweden to convert the waterloo and city line Triple-Track Railway tunnel into a High-Speed Railway lines? The Third Euro tunnel Triple-Track Railway line to make it 11 times better for passengers so they could go from A to B. Then put the modernised 11 car per unit A Stock and put them on a bigger modernised Waterloo and city line Triple-Track train tunnel so it could go to bank station to those Five countries such as Australia, Germany, Italy, Poland And Sweden. The modernised refurbished 11 cars per unit A stock could be a High Speed The Third Triple-Track Euro Tunnel Train So it is promising and 47 times a lot more possible to do this kind of project if that will be OK for London Australia, Germany, Italy, Poland And Sweden. oh by the way, could they also tunnel the Triple-Track Railway Line so it will stop from Buckinghamshire, Hertfordshire and Essex so that the Passengers will go to Australia, Germany, Italy, Poland and Sweden and also extend the Triple-Track Railway Line from the Bank to Buckinghamshire, Hertfordshire and Essex Stations so that more people from there could go to Australia, Germany, Italy, Poland And Sweden more Easily. Why couldn't they extend the Piccadilly Line and also build brand-new underground train stations so it could go even further right up to Clapton, Wood Street can they also make another brand new underground train station in Chingford and could they extend the Piccadilly Line and the DLR right up to Chingford? All of the classes 150, 155, 154, 117, 114, 105, and 106, will be replaced by all of the Scania N112, Volvo B10M, Gardner 6LXB, Gardner 6LXC and Gardner 8LXB Diesel Five carriages three disabled toilets are air conditioning trains including Highams Park for extended roots which is the Piccadilly line and the DLR trains. Could you also convert all of the 1973 stock trains into an air-conditioned maximum speed 78 km/hours (48 MPH) re-refurbished and make it into a 8 cars per unit if that will be alright, and also extend all of the Piccadilly train stations to make more space for all of the extended 8 car per unit 1973 stock air condition trains and can you also build another Mayflower and Tornado Steam Locomotive Companies and can they order Every 37 Octagon and Every 17 Hexagon shape LNER diagram unique small no.13 and unique small no.11 Boilers from those Countries such as Greece, Italy, Poland, and Sweden, can they make Mayflower and Tornado Steam Locomotive speeds by up to 142MPH so you can try and test it on the Original Mainline so it will be much more safer for the Passengers to enjoy the 142MPH speed Limit only for HS2 and Channel Tunnel mainline services, if they needed 16 Carriages Per units, can they use those class 55’s, class 44’s, class 40’s and class 43HST Diesel Locomotive’s right at the Back of those 18 Carriages Per Units so they can take over at the Back to let those Mayflower and Tornado Steam Locomotive’s have a rest for those interesting Journeys Please!!!!!!!, oh can you make all of those Coal Boxes’s 17 Tonnes for all of those 142MPH Mayflower and Tornado Steam Locomotive’s so the Companies will Understand us PASSENGER’S!! so please make sure that the Builders can do as they are told!!!! And please do something about these very very important Professional ideas Please? Prime Minister of England, Prime Minister of Australia, Prime Minister of Sweden, Prime Minister of Germany, Prime Minister of Italy, Prime Minister of Poland and that Includes the Mayor of London.
Correct me if I'm wrong but I didn't think you had to wait for the train to fully pass a speed post on the underground. I thought you could accelerate as soon as you reach it. Other than that I'm really enjoying watching your videos again
I was unaware of this until just now, but that being said it won't make much difference when driving in the tunnels. Apparently that rule wouldn't apply beyond Queens Park as you are then on National Rail tracks.
He's not dead!
It seems like you didn’t put the cab lights on
with one of the next updates in TSW 2 the speed markers for this route will count from the head of the train rather than the end. Will you make another vid with these obvious route learning changes?
Okay, so it has been mentioned that speed limits go up from the front of the train ONLY in the tunnels. It would make very little difference to the speed you drive through those tunnels, so I won't be remaking the same video again. :)
Can you do a fife circle route when you fix TS.
So one comment i'll make is the braking points on approach to stations are really just from knowing the route rather than reading signs? In Toronto the subway has braking markers and power on and off indicators. Makes it almost idiot proof!
Yes - in the UK at least the driver has to know the route like the back of their hand - speed changes, signals, braking points, how to adjust braking points based on the weather and so on. On London Underground it's easier as you can almost drive by sight. On mainline trains doing 100mph+, the driver has to drive beyond their line of sight - knowing where to brake long before they can see where they're stopping.
@@PTGRail Previously, BR would place "coasting boards" in advance of stations to let EMU drivers know that from the board onward, they'll make the station with the power shut off. This was to encourage conservation, but I don't think they fit the coasting boards anymore.
Enjoyable video as always from you. Did I miss something but it seems that there is no AWS on the LU trains.
There is no AWS on LU trains. They have tripcocks instead.
Hello please do arosa linie next
Can you cover the LGV Mediterranee route please.
As I read the head code of the mainline trains how should I pronounce the letter like 2 *V* 34, 2 *U* 25, 1 *P* 37
Use the phonetic alphabet - in the examples you gave it would be 2 Victor 34, 2 Uniform 25, 1 Papa 37.
Oh thanks, I get it now. Sorry for late reply 😉
Are the tunnels that dark in reality? Also how do you determine your speed? I can't see the dial at all although I can see the numbers in the speedometer.
Are you british mate?
Sure am! :)
@@PTGRail wow same which town I'm gerodie
reverse route pls
London underground speed limits go up at the front of the train not the back on the overground section on the bakerloo it is the back as TFL don't own it
I didn't even know that. Regardless, it wont make much of a difference to how you drive through the tunnels. :)
I think currently in TSW2, the limits for the entire route are based off the back of the train. but there is a change coming out to make it the front. I didn't know it differed IRL depending on whether it was underground or not. Will be interesting to see if DTG simulate that accurately or just make it the front of the train for the whole route.

The screenshots always look amazing for this game but the actual game play is a letdown. 🤷♂️
Not as good as WOS3, no announcements or anything
This game is lame overall I dislike it as I’m free roaming schedule is like 35 minutes per train dumb
