I was nearly choking with laughter. We can all relate to supplicating the Lord when we're in deep water only to rationalize and start taking it back once we're out of trouble.
Such a hilarious movie! I watched it several times when I was younger, and it cracked me up every single time. I think I need to watch it again. Burt and Dom were a great team - both amazing talents. May they both rest in peace.
He was VERY underrated amongst his peers and critics within the Academy and acting community. He was loved by those who paid to see him in his films, TV and stage performances. Hence being the top box office draw for 5 yrs in a row in the 70's to early 80's.
Godspeed, Mr. Reynolds. You are one of the greats and will be sorely missed. Thankfully, you and your work will live on in films and in our hearts. Say Hi to Dom.
LOVE YOU " Buddy " Burt was the man in my youth !! ( I am now 55 and this movie made me laugh, but knowing he's gone saddens me...He himself would say..." I had a hellava life ! " ( mostly great )...I HOPE HE WINS The OSCAR for " The Last Movie Star " ( his last movie from this year, it really is OSCAR worthy ! All those years and the BOX-OFFICE $$ and the FUN , but he really should be remembered for being forever " Hip " ...( except the 90's his " rug " was not too hip ! ) ~* RIP Sir ! MUCH LOVE from The east bay !
Yes...not sure who his hair stylist was in the earlier to mid 90's, but they did him wrong. Thankfully he came out the other side of that decade faring much better! Went back to his straighter, shorter hair which he wore very well. And The Last Movie Star was AMAZING. In pain no more...RIP BR.
Psalm 66: 13 I shall come into Your house with burnt offerings; I shall pay You my vows, 14 Which my lips uttered and my mouth spoke when I was in distress.
Human nature at its funniest. By the end, he's actually blaming God. (And Adam said to the Lord, "The woman WHOM YOU PUT HERE told me to eat the fruit." - the first passing of the buck and blaming God for it). God's reply via shots fired is also hilarious. Hope Burt's character learned from the second warning... :D
It is DEFINITELY John Williams. I am watching The Eiger Sanction right now. And I had to watch a scene 5 times because I stopped when I heard this music which I always loved. Had absolutely no idea this was part of the Eiger score, and that it was written by John Williams!

Yeah I’ll fall short but I’ll die trying to be a better man

simply fred Underrated? At one time he was the highest paid actor in the country. I think he was rated very well.

You cut it off before the good part when Dom DeLuise chases Burt down the beach with a knife! RIP Burt.
A wonderful Classic - thanks so much for posting! Burt is on his way to see you Dom - hope you guys have a wonderful Forever!
So underrated and funny.
I wish I could've been in the theater audience when this scene was playing. I bet the whole audience were falling out in the aisles, busting a gut.
One of the best. RIP Burt.
Definitely one of my favorites. Unfortunately it's not played on tv much.
RIP, Burt

They were awesome 👌
The music for this scene is John Willliams, from the Clint Eastwood thriller "The Eiger Sanction" (1975).
Actually, it's by Patrick Williams, who also did the music for "Hooper" and "Smoky and the Bandit", I believe.

R.I.P Burt Reynolds
Classic. LMFAO
Classic 🤟
When Sally held the gun to his head ...twice. 😆 lmao
Loved This Film as a Kid! Also The 1st Time I heard the Fab Song 'My Way!'
+Wayne Dev : I thought "My Way" played in this scene, but I can't find a video that includes it.
The song that ended this scene and film was "Another Fine Mess" Paul Williams/Glen Cambell. Hope that helps.
They had some good glue for that wig hat.
So funny!!!
RIP
Ask any Christian to name all ten commandments and you'll find that most can can only give four or five.

The title of the movie was "The End" starring Burt Reynolds, released in 1978.
