    Thanks coach for all your advice. I'm a rookie 1st year coach and you have taught me so many fundamentals. Your a great teacher and I want to just say thanks and keep up the great work.

    my son is going into his 3rd year of football and he is turning 8, my question is how do I help him learn better game fundamentals as a father wanting to invest...he is one of the fastest kids on the team last year but since he doesnt know much of football he was on the offensive line...when asking the coach why he said it's because he lacks focus and knowledge of other positions...we went to the superbowl last year and lost to the defending champs...I want to go into this next season with a better chance at a more suitable position 4 his skill set...

      This is a tough question since I do not coach your son. He is 8 so you have a ton of time to find out how much he likes football in the future. I would make sure he is happy and having fun playing football. If he wants to attend football camps during the summer and off-season I would sign him up for those. I will say coaching 8 year olds is like herding cats. Some players are not ready at 8 years old for playing RB and skill positions, some players mature faster at that age. Many parents think speed is the key skill for playing running back and quarterback and it is not. Can the player learn and remember the plays? We had a very talented back in 7U but he could not remember his plays so he played offensive line most of the time until he was 10 when he could finally remember the plays and not fumble the football. Now he is a blue chip recruit and BTW a great blocker. Which in the end football is about blocking and tackling. Sign him up for football camps, play other sports, have fun and maybe play Madden football to learn all the ins and outs of the game.

      @@coachparker thanks...I feel the same way ..was wondering about the balance of standing back and just let him have fun vs being an invested dad and trying to coach some skills...maybe just taking him out to play catch could do more than I thought

      Love this, just stay consistent with him. Continue to encourage him, the love and passion will come with the more he plays. My 7yo is in his first year, he didn’t really get into it until I started letting him know the more you play/practice and watch pro/college players the more you’ll understand the game flow.

    Hey coach , this is going to be my first year coaching , I only get 3 days a week for 1 hour and 30 each practice , I was thinking of alternating each week 2 days offense and 1 day defense , next week 2 days defense , you think that’s a good schedule?

    • @coachparker
      @coachparker  Рік тому

      I usually do this with a 3 day / week schedule - 1) Offense, 2) Defense, 3) Special Teams, / Team Offense / Team Defense / Game Prep - offense is usually harder so takes longer just an fyi

      @@coachparker how coach so far it’s just myself and one other coach so how should I do individual drills with just two coaches ? I would have liked to have Oline with one Coach , Rbs with another , WRs another and Qbs with me timing in on both Rbs and WRs , but should I just run drills with Qbs and skill positions? Until I find a coach hopefully?

    Do you have any advice for a first year coach of 1st and 2nd graders? How should practice plans be? Most of them are first year players. Any advice would be awesome

      Make sure you have assistants and you break them down into smaller groups. That was a key change I made and it's helped me get through to some players being broke down into smaller groups
