The pined strips are called 'metal tack strip'. They are available from most upholstery suppliers here in the USA.
    Thanks for watching

Do you think if you get a second sometime you could a video on how to do dining chair backs with tack strips down both sides and curve-ease at the top? Doing those chairs always drives me completely nuts and I would love to see how to do it properly

Hello Kim, Can you tell me what are PVC coverings used for in Tacktite strips?
    Many Thanks

Could you close the back ends of a sofa with the flexible metal tack strips? They're a little different from these, but I was sent them instead. Will they work OK for a back on sectional pieces? I worry it would be harder to pull the back tight with them.

+Richard McVay I think you are talking about Curve Ease and if so yes it will work just fine

Thanks! It did work fine. Except now one of my buttons on the front has loosened, so I may have to go back in.

+Richard McVay (remcvay) Use a tufting needle to re-tighten the button.

what if the metal tack strip is to long? How do you cut it off and make it look nice

Hi stacyesmith1 you can use anything that will cut metal. We use aviation snips to cut ours. They make a nice clean cut but you could file the end if you needed to.
      Hope this helps, Kim

Thank you for your reply but can you please tell me if those are nails on metal or do they look like spear tips, like seen on this Ebay offer? www.ebay.com/itm/10-pc-STRAIGHT-RIGID-Upholstery-Tacking-Metal-Tack-Strips-27-L-Made-In-U-S-A-/360853209660?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item540487023c
