Yes keep the speaker reviews coming
I wouldn't really EXPECT a bunch of low end from a 4", I guess it would be a nice bonus. Thanks for shining a light on the world of rb42
its actually crazy how Micca's are still not available in Europe... IM THROWING MY MONEY AT THE SCREEN, WHAT ELSE DO YOU WANT ME DO?!
I feel your pain!
Besides the money part I'm broke af
I just got mine on Wednesday :D. Unfortunately I only have a Topping MX3 to power them :(
They prob need gobs of power
@@dilbyjones They do but I am using a SMSL AD18 with a 24v 10a power brick and it seems to power them fine. I still plan to upgrade to a better amp though.
Yeah but the the Ford Escort Cosworth is your ultimate fuck you America.
I did just that! put my Klipsches into storage...love 'em!!..Velodyne sub. Ended up with 2X rb42 C wired in series at center...RB42's in the fronts..... Figure I'd have to spend thousands to get better...Done for a few years...I hope!
I have two of Micca MB42-C speakers 100W each.
They sound incredible. Excellent bass and treble.
I can hear the dialogues clearly and there's enough bass for the other sounds.
My speakers fill the room. They are really awesome.
While watching this video my anxiety was through the roof because I was scared that those beautiful micca might fall and break.
Please put them somewhere safe. Earthquake or someone's elbow by mistake and your speakers fall with a big to thud.
You have kept the speakers at right places but not properly protected. You need some kind of speaker stands for these beauties.
RB42's are back in stock, and the price went up to $149. Also if you're doing the OoO, another Micca I want to know about is the On3 for cheap, compact powered speakers for computer or the record player on the shelf without room for a full system.
My suggestion to viewers: plug the port, cross it over at 100 hz utilizing a 3rd order x-over, and buy a sealed subwoofer or two. Magic! You will double the power handling, while reducing the distortion in the critical midrange for exception clearity and dynamics. Look into an SVS SB1000 or a used Atlantic Technology or NHT sealed subwoofer if on a tight budget. Either way, that would get you very close to true high fidelity sound in a small to medium sized room with a nearfield listening position. Room gain will make the sealed subwoofer box almost flat down to 25 hz and the 18 db/octave x-over will yield seamless integration with the mains. I would stick with an 8 or 10 inch sub. Anything larger will be more difficult to integrate with the small 4" midrange drivers.
Wonder how these compare to the Fluance Signature 5.25" MTM selling now for $120 each at their website or the new Dayton Audio 4" MTM at PE that got exceptional praise from Audioholics and sells for less than $100/pr. Would love to see a review by Zeos of either one of these.
Loved you Cat mate!!!
Please review a good set of floor standing Paradigm speakers like the "Monitor" or "Studio" series, not just those desktop speakers you reviewed a while ago.
You need the TS parameters of the woofers and calculated the volume first before changing the port. It's probably that diameter because with the added volume, it would need to be longer as the both the diameter of the port increases, and or the volume of the enclosure increases . it simply may not have the depth that a larger port requires. A 90 in that tiny thing would add to the port noise, so straight port only. Could get a Aeroport kit from Parts express...just add a hole, and plug the original port. and if it sounds bad you can revert to the original Sound by just plugging the port you added and unplugging original port.
Exactly perfect in what you said and what I was thinking to do. An elbow turn and a little longer and maybe only a 1/2 inch wider only.
That's why port is small .... Because of volume .......
Port diameter increase = port length increase
Just thinking regarding enlarging the port...Why not add a second tube/port that you could then block/tune?? I'm leaving mine in original configuration...
Yes go ahead and make the bigger port or maybe another port! I am curious how that would sound.
My Paradigm Studio CC690 I set to large. It's also almost 3 feet wide.
Bought one of these to replace my NHT SuperCenter… I am loving it right now.
Not quite as good as my vintage NHT SuperCenter in sound quality… but it is close… and it is built a LOT better… no paper drivers in these like in the NHT. (Also… it is half the cost of a new NHT!)
Thanks!
The reason they don't have more bass is that micca went for higher sensitivity instead.
The diameter of the port does not change the amount of bass, it changes the threshold at which the port starts chuffing.
So if you want to get more bass out of these you'll need to tweak the crossover. Or just boost it with minidsp, same effect.
port diameter dictates airspeed in the port, length is freq tuning. but a larger diameter needs to be longer for the same freq tuning.
@@thombraam7845 yes which mean it takes up more space which the small boxes do not have and that is one reason for the small ports.
If all things are the same. Same cross over and such....wouldn't these make at least the SAME bass as the rb42? I feel like they should match the bass but with less effort.
BTW if anyone wants to know what the first song he is playing is, it's 3 days by Otis Taylor
Damn I just @'d him in telegram lol
RB42 is on Amazon again. Price increased to $149/pair from $129/pair.
mb42 makes a fine left right surround
I think we had all built these up in our minds because we knew Micca would eventually make them, they'd sell for about $200 a pair, and there's no way they won't be amazing. Clearly they still are amazing, but I think we were hoping we wouldn't need a sub. Oh well. I like the form factor better than the rb42. Woofers are like pistols: 2 is always cooler....though I wondering if they're cancelling each-other's low-end.
Z review, would you use 3 RB42 instead of a center? I can use 3 identical bookshelf speaker's in my setup
I just ordered an Ifi Zen Amp Dac. People are raving about it early. $129. Any chance we're gonna get a review?
I’m using one of these as a center channel along with the Sony 3-way bookshelf speakers and a Polk 10” subwoofer. My rear surrounds are the satellites off the klipsch 3 way sub set. I’m using them all with the Sony STR 590 with a Samsung 75” tv. It’s in a big living room and sounds amazing. I thought I might need two Polk subs but this thing thumps. I’ve your videos, always informative always funny.
what about getting 3 sets of Rb42s with a friend and keeping 3 each?
HEY ZEOS! Could you do the BIC AMERICA FH6-LCR center channels? Once you are talking abt centers a lot lately... They cost about $110 each! I am really considering buying a pair of those, but, I cannot listen to them anywhere in the web so.... it makes it a difficult decision.....
Hi Zeos,
Need your suggestions,
I have an option to go for polk T15 & T30 for 25k
Pioneer spc22 & sp bs22lr for 28 k and micca RB42 C and RB42 for 25k
My room is 18 ft by 10 ft.
Request you to suggest which one to opt.
Center channels tend to not really drive a lot of bass in general. They deal with front sound and dialogue. Bass most likely goes to the other speakers in surround. However, price here can't be beat.
Guys . What's the best way to go to run these in a 3.1 . looking for. Best budget amp or receiver that will run every to its fullest potential . thanks everyone
Hey Z. Im in the UK and i was wondering what you would choose if you couldn't have RB42's. I can't get them shipped to the UK, and the only pair i can find here are £400 ( $511.63 ) which kind of defeats the point of getting them, i Love the small form factor mainly want them in a small room. I'm on a budget and was looking to get a mini amp and those, any suggestions ?
what size port you think these would have to be drilled out too
??
2:53 ....... 😂😂 Just imagine how speaker feel .......😂😂
I just bought the RB42s from Amazon Canada so they must be back in stock.
They seem to have been in stock for about the past week. I ordered mine on Friday or Saturday of last week.
Only the dark walnut is back in stock. I'm still waiting for black.
@@beezaa I did not even know they were making them in black or I would have waited too, that dark walnut is not my favorite.
Great
I just bought the center, only it is not working. No sound, nothing and the box was okay. I hope micca can help me, because i also live in europe.
Zeos reminds me of mike adriano sometimes
Still waiting for port experiment...
0:34 A FAZE!
If they are centers , doesn't it make sense to have less bass for clear dialogue?
Dont cut on these to bad about the low end. Most bookshelf speakers need a subwoofer anyways. So they are well built and sound very good for the money !!!
Zeos! Although you expected more. Does the C have at least the SAME bass as the rb42?
I figured it would match it at least. But with less effort?
Try fyne audio f300 q acoustics 3020i and daly specktor 3
which would you use for a center speaker rb42 or OoO??? my left and right speakers are RM8 Polkaudio..
Im interested in this too, are the 0o0 better than RB42C for a center?
The intro 😂😂😂
Z!! I'm desperately looking to upgrade my center speaker to something better than a Kef 301C, but I'm not positive which one to buy. What is in your absolute top center channel speaker to get? I'd LOVE to hear your thoughts sir, thank you!
disconnect one of the woofers..turning it into a passive radiator
3:20 whoop whoop whoop whoop
The crossover is probably different to the bookshelves hence no low end. Paired with the right sub they probably beat the bookshelves
I am using this at ....
Front RL
Front center
Back MB42x RL
8-10" Sub ........
RB 42 has bass ....... But uncontrollable ... At high volume .... And physical cone brack up with high extrusion
Why can't we just put a different crossover in them and call it good?
For more low-end, wouldn’t you also need to increase the volume of the box? I’ll be curious to know the results of your port experiment.
OoO + RB42-C + OoO = The holy-shit-ridiculous center channel I will assume.
What if you sealed the port? They would probably integrate with a subwoofer well.
That's better deal .....
More Punch base ......
Batter mid range .....
U can get louder without any problem ....
At lower u can hear punch bass ......
Make ti removable .....
At lower volume use port .....
At louder volume sealed that port .....
I have a pair of RB42s, would one of these be additive for a medium sized room home theater?
Ah, ignore my question, you answered it about 15 minutes through.
wish we had miccas in Australia :(
We do! They're rebadged as Voll.
@@peachone those are no longer available and the new ones are a bit different. But I'm sure they are close
hey, do you think the V-moda crossfade 2 (wired) would be good for gaming?
you could have done the crossover solder mod
I wonder how different they are with the Mica OoO.
night and day.... OoO is entry level...RB's are a miracle..
The rd42s are twice as big. Have magnetic grills & a little bit more bass.
Hey z 0:36 😂😂
Is it really a problem of the port? or is it possible these have different crossovers from the bookshelf version?
This crossover is configured for center channel ...... That's what it has less base ....
.......
But one think .... Whish benefit from driver over excursion at high volume 😎 .
...........
I strongly recommend ....use as
Front RLC ...
Back MB42X
And now im curious how they hold their ground against adam a77x 🙈
An "MTM" is called a D'Appolito configuration, perfected by Joseph. Can you guess his last name?
No to the enlarged port. Use a minidsp to boost 80hz, modestly. And use a sub.
With a sub would you do 3 MB42X-C or 3 RB42-C for a budget home theater?
l think RB42-C .....
But high volume and better mid range .....
MB42-C performance way better than this ...... Also which is so cheap
.............
I consider RB42 C .... Because of mid bass is much better
@@nikhilsuryawanshi6301 I ended up with 3 rb42c for my home theater. They sound great. I am using a sub so Its a bit reundent but the mid range and highs sound amazing.
Are those air soft or are the real
Can't get any micca's in the Netherlands :( Or fluance... :(
Move to the USA buddy, lol
@@timschutte6924 Trump, gun laws, healthcare.. I'll pass
@@TheRjeeDon’t listen to the BS from biased pdf files. President Trump was working towards $1.10 per gallon gas. Even lower natural gas. Booming economy. No foreign wars to sap it. Reduced taxes and better employment.
If I have 2 rb42s for front left and right should I get the rb42-c for the center or the OoO for the center? I have a sub woofer
Did you ever end up picking one? I’m in the same situation right now
@@foureyes5498 I bought 2 rb42s for the front left and right, and a rb42c for the center back in March of last year. They sound great to me (but these are the only dedicated speakers I've ever purchased) and they fill my room with now than enough sound (10ft by 10ft). Letter I got a pair of micca covo s for the surround and a 12 inch Dayton audio sub.
So yeah the rb42c is great as a center channel for a small room for the price I paid ($90)
idknuttin thanks for the response I appreciate it. I currently have the rb42 left right and will be ordering the rb42 C soon. I can’t wait
Z I measured the port oh the RB42C 3 inches port on the RB42 7 inches :((( that explains it
What would you use to power the RB42's on a desk?
Use at least an 100 watt amp.
Yamaha sells an 100 wpc/rms tuner/amp for 130 bucks and is incredible for the money with bluetooth. Very good amp.
I just bought one for my bedroom and I am using a Dayton 15 inch sub along with the jamo c93-2 concert speakers in white for 399 bucks for a pair. That's half price on Amazon. Best speakers I've ever had
Dayton MK402-x review when, m'lord?
I own the Daytona and they are great speakers. Very bright tweeter and very good for 2.1 setup
@@timschutte6924 Bright is good since I like a little sharpness at the high end and a muted midrange.
Just ordered a pair. Paired with a BIC F12. I'm literally 2 feet from the sub so it should match my preferred sound profile.
Anyone know a good budget receiver for the RB42s with the Center?
Denon PMA-600NE @ $399
Purchased. Cause I was lucky enough to get the RB42s. Now I have a set of RB42s + the matching center. WOOOOOOOOO. Do they have fucking rears?? I will buy them, gimme a referall link hurry up omfg
I want to add that the RB42s are fucking amazing. I have the Kef LS50s and the Kefs are better for sure, but the RB42s IMPRESS. I moved to a new apartment and set up the RB42s and wasnt rushing to set up the Kef LS50s because the RB42s were so good. They are really, really reallllllly good. I used them for months before setting my Kefs up again, and immediately set up the RB42s on my 5.1 livingroom system.
dang it now there 150$ ;-;
Room Mode’s Z ...room Modes
Hi Z. How would these compare to jbl control ones. Rgds
What about adding a passive radiator instead of making the port bigger?
Reduce port length ...... To solve port chaffing problem......
RB42 good for near field?
Wait for OoO
Looking forward to it. Thanks.
What do you mean by center channel?
Review the KEF Q150!!!!
I am disappointed, the engineering team at MICCA told me the midrange was smoother on the RB42C (lol) not. Makes me sad. I have lost all faith in those people.
Smoother than what?
How could you not Notice that I just assumed it was your new center Because if we check some of your older videos you never had a tabletop above your Fireplace I been on your Channel a long time If I had the money I would have been on your Special chats by now and your Yard sale
I don't know why I thought that these are using 3" woofers...
OoO
Micca sells the oOo speakers with two 3 inch woofers and the rb42c uses two 4 inch and the box is twice as large
Z Reviews: Here's great, affordable audio......unless you're not from the US. :(
I'm willing to bet money even not having heard these that the MB42X-C that I use sounds better than this.
Yama Fanboy why do you say that
Mod the area of the port not the diameter Z. Mad science your time! I'm sure you'd commit some brain cells to it.
A center doesn't need that much bass output...
OoO?
Crystalline cocaine, or crack
Keep telling yourself that you alone are the reason the Micca RB-42's are always sold-out. You barely have any viewers and views on this video for Micca to run out of RB-42'S in just a single day of manufacturing them.
