I remember watching this I'm theater, and I could *feel* her anger and sadness. It's bad enough that she had to walk a mile just to use the bathroom, but she was underpaid, and she couldn't use any of the transportation to make the trip go faster, and *he's* acting like she could've just used one of the bathrooms in the building *knowing* she was black and that it wouldn't be allowed

You might want to read the facts. It is manipulating to present a movie like it is based on facts and then it is so embellished with, in my opinion political messages, instead of focusing on the story. Then people seem to think it is all facts. IMO, it is disgraceful to use this woman's story to push something else. I think it accomplished exactly what they wanted. It popped up on my feed with all kinds of prejudice hate comments against whites.
Read the real story here. Segregation was wrong, but to tell her story like this is something else. There were more color bathrooms other than that wing and besides, she used the white bathrooms, although it is not clear how they state they were white when they were not marked white. EVERYONE used the same bathroom. She also said she did not feel or experience racism in NASA. Look it up, the accuracy of the movie.

@@raebrach4631 I know that this scene did not happen to Katherine but you ignore her beautiful acting in this. that person admires how she put her character's soul into that performance so sorry if we think a performance in a movie is so god dam good that it deserves to have a comment written about it.

    • @raebrach4631
      @raebrach4631 Рік тому

Well, 99% or more do NOT know these scenes are not true. And I “ignore” the quality of her acting because it pales against the fact of this disgusting manipulation by race-baiting by presenting a story to the public and implies that it is true. The embellishments were nothing more than lies and race-baiting. You should see all of the hatred and threats against white people because of this movie. What does that say about the audience that almost all believe every word of this nonsense? It is also disrespectful to NASA! It is lies.
You feel the import thing is her great acting, your opinion, not mine. And I think the important thing is the evil lies in this movie to incite violence and hatred which is unethical. We disagree.
“Did Katherine Johnson feel the segregation of the outside world while working at NASA?
No. "I didn't feel the segregation at NASA, because everybody there was doing research," says the real Katherine G. Johnson. "You had a mission and you worked on it, and it was important to you to do your job...and play bridge at lunch. I didn't feel any segregation. I knew it was there, but I didn't feel it." Even though much of the racism coming from Katherine's coworkers in the movie seems to be largely made up (in real life she claimed to be treated as a peer),”

This is such a powerful scene.
Not just the ''There are no coloured bathrooms in the building , but also ''Living off coffee from a pot that none of you want to touch''.
    Spoiler alert ...
She does get her pearls as a present before she leaves .. and then they have to call her back because she is the only person the astronaut trusts.

No shade to Octavia, but Taraji should have been nominated for an Oscar for this scene alone.

@tommosher8271 How is the promoting racism? What scene of the movie did you get racism from? This movie takes place in the mid to late 1900s when segregation was a thing. It’s not like they are trying to promote racism and encourage it. Yes this wasn’t a real life scene I understand that but nothing screams racism.

This is my favorite scene. It reminds all of us to understand that your inconvenience is not noticed until it inconvenience the people who are not aware of this problem. Their insensitivities can be impossible to ignore at times.

but the next scene is the same guy taking a sledgehammer to the sign that labels the bathroom as white/colored
don't remember if it was the bathroom in the same building or a different one, I just remember he comments to the effect of "no more separation" when he's done

The minute he reacted with embarrassment, guilt, and humility by simply walking over to the coffee pot and removing that tape, the tone was set at NASA from there on out! I don't believe he was ever racist. He instead was a workaholic who was oblivious to the work environment his underlings were setting. They'd never had a female and CERTAINLY not a black female in there!

Surah Al Hujurat (The Dwellings) Ayat 13
O mankind! We created you from a single (pair) of a male and a female, and made you into nations and tribes, that you may know each other (not that you may despise (each other). Verily the most honoured of you in the sight of Allah is (he who is) the most righteous of you. And Allah has full knowledge and is well acquainted (with all things).
