    Cool camcorder! Bought in 2018 for ridiculous $5 in fully working condition!

      It’s truly the best analog camera 😊

    Hey man how exactly does it charge the batteries? do the batteries need a standalone charger? as I've tried plugging the DC cable into the camera but the batteries aren't charging.

      Does the camera display flick on and off when mains is plugged in and camera switched off? If so the battery has gone bad.
      But yes for charging the camera needs to be on the mains and turned off with battery attached to camera and the side display on flip out screen shows charge status. If it flashes battery on an off the battery can no longer take a charge.

      @@epicchris1985 Thanks. Yes the side small screen (yellow) turns on when I plug the DC cable while the cam is OFF, it flickers with a battery shape i think and it says min or 0 min. With another battery the screen doesn't flicker or turn on does that mean the other battery is also dead?

      @@r33k24 yes it’s glitching out and yes sometimes won’t show at all. Definitely order a cheap replacement online on eBay and you’ll be good to go 👍

    can import the footage into a computer ?

    • @epicchris1985

      taaayyylooorrr hi. Yes you can indeed but you’ll need something like a usb grabber or the like. Depending on what ports you have on your computer for these old units you’ll probably need a usb to capture device of some sort but yes as you can see it can be done! 👌

      @@epicchris1985 hi, i am also trying to import videos from this exact camcorder into my computer. which wires would i need and which port would i use to do this?

      A hi. Best option depends on if you have a windows pc or iMac? Easy option are things called usb grabbers or search “analog capture designs” then you simply use the cameras phono connection to plug phono to phono into usb then capture using most video editors 👍

    Can you put other lenses on it?

    • @epicchris1985
      @epicchris1985  Рік тому

      You’d have to look up lens size via the user manual on Sony website but yes they could have some lenses added such as a wide lens.

    Just won this on eBay and am very happy with it. That is, until I discovered what could be an unsettling flaw - didn’t take me long. When setting the date I saw that the furthest year into the future that can be set is 2029. That’s just 6 years away. Perhaps Sony thought the world would end in 2029. All well and good if it does, but what if it doesn’t and we hit Jan 1st 2030; what do we do then? The date would be all wrong and the users would be denied the basic human right of having the correct time stamp on their footage. Chris, how are we going to get round this? I’m extremely concerned.

      We have no choice. I’ve contacted the guy at the top of government and said we simply can’t let this stand! It needs to be updated by Sony. When that date hits the info we record will be incorrect! That could cause a rip in time and space! I said I demand Sony product recall all these old 90’s and early 2000’s units and update the calendar so it runs at least another 100 years at which point it becomes the next users problem as I’ll long since be dead!

      Well, that REALLY sucks. The only thing to do once all options have been exhausted, is a degree in Electronic Engineering, unless you have one, and then a phD paper entitled ‘Beyond 2029: How to let time continue on the Hi8 Handycams’. All achievable in 6 years. Chris, we’re all counting on you! 🫡

      @@akkafietje137 no sadly no button or the like. They need opening up and putting power to the loading motor but you need a power supply for that sort of work. Tape repair isn’t too hard. A UA-cam channel called 12voltvids has done a video about this as I remember
