- Hey guys, in this video I wanted to break down my go to knot the Miller Knot. This has been by far the strongest knot I've ever tied as a main line knot. I hope you guys enjoy this vid, and hope it puts some biggens in the boat for you like it has for me. Please don't forget to subscribe.

My new favorite knot!
I had heard of this knot. You made it very clear how to tie it. Thank you Sir, you have gained a subscriber today 👊😎
Great demo !
Thank you for teaching me brotha merry Christmas
Great video brother. So used to the Palamar and Sandiago Jam knots
Just now finding this. Randomly popped up in recommends. Gonna be using this one all year
HOT TIP!!!! THANX!
First time viewer. Great video!
Nice. Thanks
Mark, Just watched Matt Stefan’s pitch on this knot, in which he referenced you teaching him. Just wanted to say I use this knot 95% of the time. I did some head to head testing of the Miller versus the Trilene knot (another knot with 2 wraps around the hook eye) and the Miller won hands down. Tying each end of a section of 10 Lb test mono to 2 different hooks, one with a Miller knot and one with a Trilene knot, I pulled the hooks apart to see which would win. In multiple tests, the Miller knot beat the Trilene knot by a margin of 7 wins Miller for every 1 win Trilene. Big fan of yours. Thanks for sharing. Watched your video to make sure I was capturing any nuances. God bless.
Thought you tied a fj knot.i like this miller knot. Thanks mark
This is the best knot to have confidence with. I like Palomar too, but this is just better.
polomar best for braid not for flouro
I'm sold Mark. Gonna try it tomorrow. Nice presentation.
My man I appreciate it! Definitely gonna use this knot. If a beast fisherman with a fresh taper is giving free game, you gotta use it. Thanks bro!
Thank goodness....someone who can tie a knot that we can see as he ties it. Good job man.
🙏🏾🙏🏾
I like the knot! Will need practice though! I like the old Cali plate on the wall also! Right on MDJ! Thank You!
Thanks coach
it took me a few times but i finally got it . Thank you . I have broken off a few fish lately and i was searching for a stronger knot
Thanks for the instruction on the miller knot, I had not heard of it before but will practice it for a while to perfect it!!! Like the looks of it, double wraps!!!
That knot looks like a beast. Thanks for tutorial. I've been running same knot for 30 years but this looks like it might be an upgrade. Have to give it a try.
I grew up tying the Rapala knot&the Trilene knot...was always my confidence knot as a kid even though I know it would get loose over time(not in a days fishing but storing gear for a week they would give)...this Miller knot looks like a great adaptation of how those start(that final loop twist around the mainline before pulling tag end through to tighten down)& condenses the knot into a cleaner final package...happy this came up randomly in my suggested videos😎
Trilene knot simply does not hold up as well, not even the upgraded Trilene knot, I have lost fish and lures with both. All I care about is performance and this knot, Miller for terminal tackle is nearly as strong as the line itself, in fact it's just as strong. I tested it by breaking some line, 12 lb test sometimes the line will break above the knot before the knot breaks.
I plan to give this one a try. I usually go to the Palomar knot but this one looks strong and easy too. Thanks and got get 'em Mark.
Thanks Mark. I have been looking for a knot to replace tying the palomar knot on hooks and baits when not using braid and this looks like a great alternative when learned.
Love the Miller knot, especially for tying a drop shot
1st time ive ever heard of it..love learning new things
Used the knot today. It was pretty easy tie. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks MDJ, good looking knot. Definitely going to give it a shot. Looks really easy with some practice
Will be using this. I liked the string idea. I actually practice with something similar before I try tying knots with fishing line. Big help. Thank you sir!
Funny that you use a saltwater knot but your from the Bay Area also Ben using the Miller knot since I was 10 years old iam an old commercial fisherman I used it for strippers in the bay o 6lb test so the knot holds . Glad to see a pro fisherman like yourself using it.
Thanks for this!!! Never seen this one but will be giving it a shot!!! As always love the content
Looks fire ...try double line clinch twist 6 times run thru bottom and top clip ...all 3 tags should be left
Bank Robber! Yes my favorite angler beatin the bank 🏦
Thank MDJ.. I will definitely be doing this 🤝🦾
Man you made that look way simpler than it sounded! Definitely gonna give this a try
I love the trilene knot.. this looks like it has a shorter tag and less potential for scorching on tightening, I'll have to try it out.
Mark got a surprise for u... my buddy owns many bojangles and to give u a hint " they or trying to come up with a way to get your favorite my favorite on menu "
Thanks MDJ ... VERY much appreciated & helpful.. Keep banging bruh 🎣💪🏽👍🏽
Not being disrespectful you are one of my favorite anglers. Long time subscriber.
thanks! i will try this knot out
Sweet! I’ll give it a go 👍🏾. Good upload Bro 😎👊🏾💪🏾
I love the what happens at the lake stays at the lake. I’ve been using that for years but didn’t know it already existed lol
Big Mike Fishing Chronicles
I have a question I am a little bit lost I hear some people say they fish jigs with braid and I hear some that they use fluorocarbon but then I hear people say that they use fluorocarbon because the fish can not see it but that is not true because I have fished fluorocarbon and I have seen the but gill bitting at the line so in my mind if the bluegill see it then the bass do too can you please shed some light on this, please
Who winning winning winning winning that not is easy as pie once I got it I got it. Thank you my brother the other night you show me how to tie this one not I still ain't got it but this one oh boy yeah this is a tough tough. thank you very much bro preciate it.
That is a very strong knot I spent half my life working on long range boats I learned that knot from the guy himself and the knot is actually called the Joe miller knot I used to tell a story about Joe during my knot tying seminar Joe wasn’t a ver good fisherman but he tied a hell of a knot 👍🏽😀🐟🔥❤️
Joe loved to fish barracuda horseshoe kelp
Will try the knot but the prototype though!
Good info thanks so much best of luck to you later
What is your go to Seaguar fluorocarbon? I know Seaguar makes great stuff but which one is your favorite?
If I had to pick one it would be Abrazx. Preforms well in all categories 👍🏾
It’s like the double palomar married to the San Diego Jam.
Thanks Marc I will definitely give this knot a try. When will you be getting your new boat? 🎣🐟
Nice knot bruh! I'd like to see it and the palomar battle for which breaks 1st. Like knot wars. What ya say? Keep it up.
Miller knot has already “battled” the Palomar. Miller knot won
Oh ima jack this knot up Tonight.
I'll give it a try next time I go out
MDJ u ever seen the shark knot my uncle fishes for sharks for Gov. And he ties a shark knot.. I say it's been tested to never break cause it's not a knot it's a clintch style that gets stronger as u pull on it.. yes it easy to do with 3 tag on it ... zona says like everyone who has used it says never seen a knot this strong
MDJ is well aware, Gerald Swindle has been talking about that knot for years, don't know why Zona pointed it out late 2020.
What’s up Mark... What is your go to when going fluoro to fluoro? When adding new line to a backing on a reel.
What’s up Trey? Man I do a very simple blood knot. It’s not strong at all but serves the purpose
Only at miller grove 😈😈 🔥🔥
What's Good Cuz 😎🤙🏿🎣🎣
I checked out this knot . I'm from up near Lake Ontario ST Lawerence river so I will have all winter to practice it. What Knot do you use for Drop shoting ? The Miller Knot will be my go to not from here in.
Thanks bro! Another knot for my arsenal. Continue to do what you bro. And who edged you up. May have to go see them when I go to Bama...lol
What pro you know tie the same knot??? Just curious 🧐
I don’t know if any others
Had to switch to Palomar, braid slips out too easy
What’s your opinion on the improved clinch?
I don’t like it personally.
What happened to the boat? You stopped fishing professionally?
I love looking at your channel! 😀I’ve been watching you for a while now. If you can give me some tips on how to capture’s new subscribers & how to keep your old subscribers entertained! I have a new UA-cam channel “Pink Pond Princess “. 👸 I’m trying to inspire women to tryout fishing. It’s something to do with your family that doesn’t cost a lot of money & it’s relaxing.
I like the knot, just can't get it right.
Keep practicing bro
Get informative video brother. Thanks!
That's a complicated knot, it scares me. Is it 100%? "The Miller's face at 1st just ghostly, turned a lighter shade of pale." -The band Procol Harem's take on the knot in question.
I'll stick with the Palomar knot. never had a knot failure. and it's faster than the Miller knot.
I’m sorry but red label is ass I would rather use eagle claw or Berkeley big game 😂🤣
