Whispers in the animation landscape are strongly alluding to the current building for Cartoon Network Studios shutting down after nearly 30 years. However, Cartoon Network Studios itself is sticking around, just moving to a different building. Still, this building is a piece of animation history that should be preserved, but is there any hope?

I had an idea that someone should totally turn the building into like an animation museum!
That would be a great idea and a section of that would be dedicated to hanna Barbera creations.
@@l1ght_sw1tch Yeah! Let's never forget who invented this channel. Every Hanna Barbera creation are history!!
I agree.👍
@@markeyiszra Wonder if the person who created Cartoon Network is even still alive.
There needs to be a petition to turn it into a museum
These couple years have really been crazy for animated series and their companies
Wait I know you LMAO I THINK? I think we used to talk way back in 2021 on twitter dms? You're user just seems so familiar...? Anyways do you remember me?
Agreed. Absolutely insane
Insane yes but do not lose hope! Animation can be fought for! Those cancelled CN shows can be revived (even Owen Dennis thinks so) and most importantly Cartoon Network isn’t dead, just moving to another building
@@prowolf633 thank you for this. Not to mention gumball getting (maybe) more content, and shoes like Craig of the creek, ttg, and we baby bears still running, the magic of Cartoon Network is not going anywhere!!
@@cakepann Let's just hope that the Channel can get out of these dark times, like they did back in 2009.
We should take as many photos of the building as possible to preserve its memory, if this is true.
They also make 3d scanning apps for iphone s, someone should make a 3d model of it
Way ahead of you
Why not make the studio a landmark spot?
Just like with the splash mountain too?
Agree
They should make this building a museum.
I was thinking the same thing also I accidentally stole your comment. Not word for word of course I just typed it without reading any comments
That would be so cool.
That's a perfect idea!
In the end, cartoon need money to make (and if you now, you now) CN money is so 😕😐😶.
Seriously, what are you, Jacob Young brother?!
I hope animators in the animation industry would operate as an independent workers co-op and take over the building
They should, it should be made a place where artists can get out from under the ones that ultimately kill creative freedom.
Maybe we'll start seeing some more of the good ol stuff again.
I wish. don't have corpo merger money
That would be great.
I agree.
"Not animated, that's usually done overseas" yup, and thanks to the language barrier, there's been some hilarious mistakes that happened that the creators decided to keep in the episodes! My favorite is in the Chubby Cheese episode of Dexter's Laboratory where after the end of Chubby's song, the audience flies away for no reason. The story behind it is the animators were told that the audience would take off, as in get up and leave. But the animators interpreted that as literal. Because of how funny it was, they kept it in and added sound effects. Which for this episode, is even better as Dexter is watching the show without his glasses, so you can judge what happened as what Dexter thinks he's seeing.
That's hilarious
I'm not happy to read comments, Susan has killed my life!
I think if they made it a Cartoon Network Museum that would be neat.
another one!?
Seriously, how many idiots in the comments think of that idea of creating a museum?
I agree (kinda).

Nickelodeon Studios opened at Universal Studios Florida in 1990, closed on the 13th anniversary the Nick time capsule was buried there, Nick time capsule moves to Nickelodeon Suites nearby, Blue Man Group moved into the studio in 2007, Nickelodeon Suites changed back to an ordinary Holiday Inn in 2016, the Holiday Inn resort filed for Chapter 11 in January 2021, and Blue Man Group left Universal in February 2021. The former Nickelodeon Studios building now sits behind a fence from the public and unused (besides for private events and for the holidays for the Grinchmas Who-liday Spectacular show).
As shown with Nickelodeon Studios, if a beloved studio for a kids network closes, the grounds and those affiliated with it become cursed. And I won't surprised if this is the case here.
I think WB-Discovery is already cursed; what with a writers strike possibly coming, their poor business numbers, their complete lack of entertaining media and the uproar Zaslav created within the Animation Community.
If people think the final example doesn't mean much...recently, the D&D Community got into a BIIIG uproar with Wizards of the Coast; after they tried to take away/alter the OGL (or Open Gaming License.) People boycotted THEIR company, Hasbro, slandered D&D's name on social media and there were possible moments where people threatened to sue them.
If Dungeons & Dragons fans can make THAT kind of achievement, who's to say we can't do the same with Zaslav to protect animation?
As an animation major in college this is deeply infuriating and heartbreaking.
I swear to god if the CN building is left to become like a plain old office building or more outrageously overpriced housing I’m going to riot.
There’s so much history in that building and I would love to visit it one day even if it’s not being used for animation. It could be turned into an exhibit or something that allows it to be preserved as it is now. My childhood, the childhoods of multiple generations, were made in that building, and if it gets thrown away or discarded like some random insignificant building, it’s going to be like a big old kick in the nuts to anyone who even mildly appreciates animation
unlikely that it becomes housing. Prolly a mortgage or insurance type building tho
I hope everything goes well for everyone who works on Cartoon Network.

The depression I just got realizing I'll never get to step foot in that building
Same bro…. Really wanted to work in CN.
I used to pass this building when taking the train to school every day 🥲 and literally it was my favorite thing I’d pass by. I’d be like “ooh we’re in Burbank now, look for the Cartoon Network building!!” I’d even send pictures of it to my other animation loving friends lol. I hope it ends up in good hands (but with the way that real estate is in LA these days I’m not confident)
this really does hit hard for me. I always dreamed on joining Cartoon Network and walking into the building ever since I was a kid.
Wow. Warner Bros Discovery is becoming like Disney, due to having dreadful business practices, and selling off their beloved stuff, this being super greedy!
The only difference is that Disney still has their animation studio in the same area.
Goodbye amazing building of my childhood you have so many memories thank you and goodbye ❤
Goodbye hopes and dreams this year!
*Watch how they replace the* *building with like a random* *Walgreens or some crap* 💀
The Building is Gone?!
WAIT WHAT, IS IT GETTING CLOSED DOWN??? NO WAYSS 😭😭
gonna revisit this video in 5 years to see if they actually do sell it, id be willing to bet good money they won't
You know, the CNS building was actually opened on May 22, 2000 by the fact, but I hope it turned into an animation museum.
I agree.
Man, how much I wish Grim was real so he could pay SOMEONE a friendly little visit.
I guess that CNS is relocating to Warner Bros. Animation's headquarters (which itself is also a mystery, since the Warner Ranch (where WBA's headquarters are) is supposed to be sold off)
We can only hope that someone who grew up with Cartoon Network grew up to be a billionaire and will buy the building and turn it into a museum, and for the longest Cartoon Network has been around... the odds of that aren't too low♡ 🤔
Let's hope...
@@clartblart3266 Same here.
I agree.
_sigh_ nobody grows up to be a billionaire, you're just... born into it.
I’ve always wanted to work at Cartoon Network since high school, but now with CN Animation and WB Animation merging, I honestly feel a bit scared. I heard the channel will still continue to produce great content, but I don’t think it’s going to be the same without the building that has been around since I can remember. I hope David Zaslav doesn’t make Cartoon Network a huger mess the same way Elon Musk did to Twitter.
Yeah.
0:10, Don't forget that Cartoon Network Studios often aired various DC Shows (that does include both Teen Titans & Teen Titans Go), Looney Tunes, Freakazoid, Animaniacs, Tiny Toons and various Hanna-Barbera shows like Hong Kong Phooey, The Jetsons, Scooby-Doo, Wacky Races, Frankenstein Jr. & The Impossibles, The Flintstones, Yogi Bear, Laff-a-Lympics, Josie & The Pussycats, Speed-Buggy, The Funky Phantom, Dynomutt Dog Wonder, The Amazing Chan & The Chan Clan and many more!!
Yeah
@@autisticunicorn4818 Who can forget?
I am staring at the building right now and god fucking damn it.
First off, your *Super* lucky to have the building next to where you live, Second turn the building into a museum.
Agreed.
Rumor has sadly now become truth.
I really hope cartoon network will be better in the future because I want to work with them in the future if I end up a animator when I'm older
I've dreamed of working in that building for nearly 6 years, and to hear about them moving broke my heart. I hope and pray that they preserve the building as perhaps a cartoon network museum of sorts. Allowing fans to walk around looking at where it all happened
Maybe a way to save the building is to make it a museum of CN/Warner Bros animation. That way they can preserve some history and potentially make some money to appease the corporate heads.
This would be a GREAT idea.
Why did I expect to hear Vailskibum's voice after the intro lol
The need to make the studio a Museum that’d be cool but it’s an idea
I agree with you.
Honestly, it's gotten more and more exhausting being a fan of a WarnerMedia property. Being bombarded with disappointment over and over and over and over and over. Legitimately good shows (Close Enough, Mao Mao, Young Justice) getting cancelled for shitshows (Velma) or mistreating filmmakers/actors or some other third thing. They're just incapable of redemption and they always have been long before Discovery.
James Gunn and Peter Safran are the only things from Warner Bros that I have faith in right now and not much else.
It's been a dream of mine to visit this building. To see the stairwell in person. I'm just crushed
I get it's only the building, but it doesn't change the fact on how Warner sees CN
man that’s a bummer... i’ve always wanted to visit. it’s such an interesting space, i hope everything gets salvaged. or at least if they wanna get rid of stuff in liquidation give staff and fans the opportunity to grab some goods! my college was getting rid of their whole library so instead of just donating all the animation + other disciplines textbooks/resources, they let students take as much home as they wanted, so i’d hope CN would do something similar (like allowing staff to take home tech equipment and tablets).
It should just be turned into a museum.
they should turn it into a museum… cause let’s face it, a literal museum for cartoon network HISTORY would be visited by a LOT of people maybe not DAILY but it would still get a lot of people in there plus with a CN gift shop featuring old shows on shirts, shoes, mugs, and a lot of other stuff would definitely get them more money especially if i could get an official outfit of some of their shows main cast from ed edd n eddy, FHFIF, Gen Rex, and others would be phenomenal and would be my whole outfit line for the literal rest of my life. i can imagine it now! me as an old dude wearing Mac’s outfit in my size plus backpack with keychains of Blu, wilt, coco, and edwardo walking around doing old people stuff… i’d be one happy old dude.
This is a dark day in animation history
We're losing more and more good things by the day

Exactly but we want David Zaslav to get FIRED!

Turn it into a museum of cartoon history!
Yeah.
These couple of years have been a very bumpy ride for CN and Nickelodeon
Xilam and Aardman are still hopping around with animated content, while CN and Nickelodeon are losing money from their owners.
I want Cartoon Network Studios to ACTUALLY go back to being independent and ACTUALLY bring back their old building!
This goes to show, Warner Bro discovery can’t keep surprising us😔. People was in disbelief ever since WB announced they were shutting it down for the past few months. If this was the case, I would be just lost with words. The CN building literally had so much history since 1994, I remember being 8 yrs old walking by and seeing the checker board on top of the building like it was my first time. I seriously hope that they don’t change the branding that makes it stay alive. It sucks that ever since 2020, things have been a struggle for animation properties within streaming services and by the corporation.
Thanks a lot COVID.
Thanks a lot David Zaslav! 😡
Here's an idea keep it as a studio space for animation, maybe even a school to keep the art form going and to pass on its Legacy to the Next Generation
I sure hope Cartoon Network Studios wouldn't go out of business and then probably shut down after all of these years... 😢😟
I agree.
@@autisticunicorn4818 The main reason why I don't want Cartoon Network to shut down... Is because I have a dream of being a 2D animator there! 🙏🏾😔 Someday, I WILL get my dream job!!

Miss you Samples, Network was never the same after you left.
What?! *NO! THEY CAN'T DO THAT!*
really wanted to at least see that stairwell in person once, as much as i hope it gets preserved, the thought that this time next year itll probably be painted over and gone forever is super upsetting
My childhood could be easily summarized by 4 main TV channels!
Nickelodeon
Disney junior
Disney channel
Cartoon Network
I've already lost two of these!! Now I'm gonna lose another one!!!?
Cartoon Network!
I think I know a solution to this: We need to make more Kids TV networks. The main three channels we have right now aren't as great as they used to be. And they're slowly dying (in a way). You might think that it could be the end, but I believe that this is a whole new beginning. With these channels fading away, it goes to show that no matter how big they are, they can't truly last forever. we have a chance to start a new. We can expand Kids Media and make it grow bigger and better than before. So let these channels rest in peace, it's time for a new generation to begin!
I know it won't be easy, but we have to try.
Dang, I was just rewatching some older stuff from Cartoon Network the last few days, from shows to bumpers, and even some Friday nights both cartoon-hosted and live-action hosted, and now I find out the building that started it all is closing. This is crazy.
Bro, you should make a video on The Heroic Quest of the Valiant Prince Ivandoe, new upcoming show that looks like it'll add good mix to the network. Always love originals.
If only we had cn hotel with a theme park and food and a studio
There IS a CN hotel in Pennsylvania!
Might as well go there!
Yeah.
I am incredibly upset hearing this news.
As far as I'm sure, the new building they migrated into won't be as much of a magical sight to see driving by.
They're gonna have to build a new magical stairway from scratch, save up to afford new statues, and what probably might suck the most, have Warner Animation forbid originality.
And also, I really hope WBD won't get Williams Street next.
Because that might mean Adult Swim would get dragged in to suffer with them.
And also, in conclusion... Blame David Zaslav.
If they actually turn it into a museum it could save and protect a bunch of Cartoon Network iconic shows for years to come so that people can understand what makes the building so memorable.
The Cartoon Network Museum, please make that a thing it would be awesome! You could have some die-hard fans run it keeping it up to code without WB actually being fully involved, charge people to see all the cool statues/story bored/concept art, and have the stair well be under constant super vision so that no one can degrade it but when someone does because that will just happen they will be a living legend to their friends! This was MY channel growing up and it deserves that much at least!
I agree

so far this been teach everyone one that giveing your ideas to a corpo is one of the worst thing you can do, I hope this been a wake up call to people who want to make cartoons & animation. I can't believe i am going to say this but thank you warner bros discovery for showing people that going indie is the best way possible for art/cartoons/animation.
In 2019, My family and I went to California to see the Cartoon Network Studio Building in person. It was the best thing that happen to me, Sadly they didn't allowed us inside because no outside citizen are allowed to entered. But that do not mean cannot have the exactly experience of seeing that building in person.
I'm very sad and torn apart of the end of the building studio. So thanks Cartoon Network Studios for all the one of the Awesomest shows you created from this building.
Admittedly, news that the Cartoon Network Studios building possibly being sold off IS a bit of a red flag.
HOWEVER...upon mentioning all the HBO Max shows getting the ax, I've seen signs that Zaslav's poor decision making is FINALLY starting to bite him in the butt. Not only have these decisions rather justly earned the anger of those behind the shows that were cancelled, it's been recently reported that the whole WB-Discovery merger ISN'T going to happen after all.
Firstly, the recent shake-ups caused by James Gunn have left the execs up at Warner feeling rather apprehensive; which could be seen as either a good or bad thing (depending on where you stand on DC media.)
Second, their recent slew of movies have turned out to be failures; which is, as a result costing them money.
Third, we could be on the cusp of yet another possible Writers Strike; something that hasn't been seen since 2007. This COULD explain why so much of CN's upcoming content is taking so long to premiere. But if you grew up during the last Writers Strike; then, you may recall the supreme lack of new media from movies or TV.
The only GOOD thing to come out of that was Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along Blog, a project personally created by Joss Whedon (before he became a big name in the movie industry.)
More to the point; with so many red marks on his record here, I think it's high time for Zaslav to get the boot
I agree.
@@autisticunicorn4818 If there's anyone out there who wants proof that my words are legit, there are DOZENS of articles out there you can look up that will prove my point.
