Really? Geesh, huh? I have lived in Baguio for 30 years, I can never say that the city of disappearing pines is safe. First, it's congested, and water supply is atrocious. The a family of property developer is destroying the city. Crime city of the north.

I'm from Baguio and we are one (if not the cleanest city in the PH) of the cleanest cities not only in the Philippines but in all ASEAN countries as of 2024. I would add people here are so disciplined and very polite. Baguio is so underrated for foreign tourists. I think we deserve more recognition. Love from Baguio city ❤

Im from Davao pero nakapunta nako sa Ilo-ilo. In my opinion, mas malinis ang Ilo-ilo sa Davao though malinis din nman ang Davao. Ang kinalamang ng Ilo-ilo is ang pagiging artistic and gastronomic culture nila and the cultural heritage sites, while Davao is more on to Agritourism and Safety net Index.
One main reason baguio is different to other places in the Philippines is the people.they are called igorots which they value their territory,very well disciplined people,.maybe because they were not colonized by spanish unlike most part of the Philippines thats why they kept their tradition and culture.
Miss my city. Born and raised in Baguio and I think about it everyday. Can’t wait to go back home again. For those who don’t know. It’s a walking city and a university city. Most honest taxi drivers and most fair in prices too. Accommodations is pricy because it’s vacation place. But the prices drops down during off season on the rainy months
@@MichaelSmittySmithScottsdaleAz mid May to August is the wettest months. You do still get some storm here and there from September to November. But it’s just mostly a rainy afternoon which is not bad cause it adds to the charm of the city. And yes it does get flooded once in a blue moon if a really strong typhoon hits. But it’s usually just rain with some wind during the rainy season. If you’re up top the mountain then you suffer more wind. But if you’re at the bottom you suffer more water. But like I said it’s not like that every season. It’s just best to keep it in mind that it could be that to better prepare.

Spent three years of my life there. But I lived inside the military academy which hope you visit. You can actually dine with the cadets just ask around when you're in there, how to make that happen. That would be a good experience for you.
BAGUIO!!! This brought back so, so many great memories, Michael!! From childhood to adulthood. This City is known as the Summer Capital of the Philippines, so there's a strong govt presence throughout. Many Americans (with military connections esp.) and foreigners chose to reside there after WWII. BURNHAM PARK = named after American architect and Baguio city planner Daniel Burnham. Ohhh, memories ... 😊 😍 💖
Brings back memories for me, we got married in Angeles in 1990 and had our honeymoon in Baguio paid for by my wife’s boss. A few months later they had an earthquake and hotel we stayed in collapsed like a deck of cards. Really loved it there.Cheers Greg from Noosa Hds Australia
It's the Hyatt-Baguio Hotel. A cousin who's on duty at the casino during the earthquake died when the hotel collapsed. I visited her and stayed at her home for several days 2 weeks before tragedy struck.

We stayed 4 nights in Baguio, and loved every bit of it. Only place I've worn my blue jeans in my 2+ years living in Philippines. Was so glad i packed my sweatshirt hoodie!
Indeed it did. You are lucky to have seen it when it was not over populated. Nowadays it's full of tourists and traffic is crazy. Regardless though I still love my home.

That was a great video Micheal, that couple were so sweet. I'll have to visit Baguio one day. My fiancee lives on Northern Samar so I spend most of my visits there but need to see more of Luzon (only seen around Manila, Makati, BGC etc). I've explored the touristy locations (Palawan, Boracay and Bohol) but I find the small provincial towns more of an adventure. Nothing like having a shower with a tabo and bucket of cold water to wake you up of a morning.

Baguio city could go down until 11°C, if its at the nearby provincial areas especially Atok, Benguet it could go down to 9°C or lesser even and 6°c was the coldest ever recorded and usually felt just before sunrise that vegetables could even frost. Coldest months are from December to early March usually peak coldest are from late Jan to February. But that's not always the case, temperature and weather always differ. Its a tolerable hot during summer, it rarely goes up beyond 26°C. Overall though, its a chill place to be especially if you came from warmer areas

Welcome to Baguio city. I’ve been here for just under eight years now, I’m originally from the West Indies a US territory known as Puerto Rico a Native American and that’s why I have a Spanish surname. This place the Philippines is much like my home in the West Indies only smaller and a little bit hotter. Baguio is a great place to live it is cooler than most other places here, I prefer it because I grew up in northern climates mostly New York City, New Jersey. But if you want to keep away from the heat this is the place, not that it doesn’t get hot here it does but it is mostly cool year round. So enjoy your next trip here and if you need advice let me know, I’ll answer what I can.

I'm Filipino-American and my parents are from La Trinidad (just outside of Baguio). I've been there 5 times in my life with the last trip being 2007. Haven't been back because of career and trying to keep up with the "American Dream". I can't believe how much the Philippines has changed since my last visit. My mom goes back at most every couple of years for like 3 months. Even she tells me that it changes everytime she goes back.
@JTXBUFFY I have apartment in LA Trinidad close to Ad' Laine bakery. Also house in Sablan and house in US. My beautiful wife is from Sablan. I love it there. US is going downhill fast, I feel much safer in Philippines then US. Baguio is almost 0 drugs, violent crime, guns, gangs. Police have strong presence there.
@@timtolliver183 I'm actually saving up to build a house on family property in the PI. The tempo of American culture is changing. Much different since my childhood. As I'm getting older I think it would be a good idea to have a home base in the Philippines where I can destress.

I'm retired Navy. Was in the PI for port visits 83-85. Baguio was the place known to go. Get a hotel, play golf, sight see, enjoy the good life.

Love going to baguio every now and then as it's very accessible, lots of cheap accomodation and nothing like walking around the city day or night

Lived in Manila for over 12 years, but back then I kept coming back to Baguio. I miss that palace so much. Now living in my hometown Dumaguete City but still can remember those cold summer nights of Baguio

I'm from Baguio and stayed with my son's family in Edmonton Alberta. Been to other places in Canada like Toronto and Niagara. Niagara is also like Baguio at night so many attractions to spend the night. Thank you for visiting Baguio City. God bless ❤️🙏❤️

I'm Filipino-American and my parents are from La Trinidad (just outside of Baguio). I've been there 5 times in my life with the last trip being 2007. Haven't been back because of career and trying to keep up with the "American Dream". I can't believe how much the Philippines has changed since my last visit. My mom goes back at most every couple of years for like 3 months. Even she tells me that it changes everytime she goes back.
@JTXBUFFY I have apartment in LA Trinidad close to Ad' Laine bakery. Also house in Sablan and house in US. My beautiful wife is from Sablan. I love it there. US is going downhill fast, I feel much safer in Philippines then US. Baguio is almost 0 drugs, violent crime, guns, gangs. Police have strong presence there.
@@timtolliver183 I'm actually saving up to build a house on family property in the PI. The tempo of American culture is changing. Much different since my childhood. As I'm getting older I think it would be a good idea to have a home base in the Philippines where I can destress.
