"Стенька Разин" is a Russian folk song about a Cossack rebel from XVII century, Stepan -Stenka Razin (1630-1671). The track was recorded originally for "Artiphon" under the title "Stenka Rasin und die Fürstin - Wolgalied" and this is a 1936 release by the "Brillant" company. Notice that the hot-blooded Gypsies "simply couldn't" play the sad song only, so they stopped it in the middle and continued with one jolly tune (1:35); does anyone recognize it?
The tune from 2:02 to 2.34 sounds like a variation of "Ciocârlia" (a Romanian folk tune). You can find it in Grigoraș Dinicu's performance or at the very end of George Enescu's Romanian Rhapsody No. 1.
