I don’t think people are saying “Mat rescued the SuperGirls in the Stone of Tear” the way you mean. It’s not that the girls needed a Man to come save them. The point is that Mat even tried, given the circumstances. Mat risked everything for them - he broke into a supposedly impenetrable fortress, with members of the Black Ajah there, and oh yeah, one of the Forsaken. He was willing to put himself in extreme danger in order to try and help them. And by the way, they would not have been able to open the door without him, so yeah maybe he was only able to open the door because Egwene shielded Amico, but they still would have been stuck in the cell without him. And they treated him like 💩 for it.

There is also Trolloc script on the walls in the dungeon when Fain escapes. Verin comments on it. And how the Myrdraal are more likely to be able too write it.

I was thinking the other day it's kinda weird that Hawkwing was a Hero when he fell to the dark under Ishy. Does that mean there are lives where Birgitte fell to the dark as well?

I remember during my first read-through being very frustrated with Elayne for a long time. Realizing now, that may actually tie back to her tossing aside the Kindle Ter’angreal. That was one of the moments I actually screamed out loud while reading. 🤬

The thing about trusting Aes Sedai is that there are plenty of stories - often told by Gleemen, if they think there are no Aes Sedai about to make them regret it - that cast Aes Sedai in a bad light. And the books themselves show us that Aes Sedai are prepared to allow any amount of regular asholes to suffer if it furthers their goals (like making a Murandian border lord king and balls deep in debt to the tower, no matter how many Andoran sheep he steals, or which farmers get killed when they object).
And the collective ladyboner experienced by the Tower when they realise the potential of the Daughter Heir of Andor to be both Aes Sedai and ruler of one of the largest nations of Randland - because they're so blue ladyballed since they've only been advising rulers lately - combined with the way they defer to strength in the One Power tells us as readers that Aes Sedai are very much on board with the concept that Might (in the female half of the One Power) Makes Right.

That last Hot Take about the Ter'Angreal..... yeah... so.... when i wrote my ending to the story, That ter'angreal was given to the Ogier, (who were in charge of the Ter'Angreal & the great Library) by Rand...(We wont get into how he got most of the objects of the power...smh@Elayne)... very open-ended storyline though.... enjoyed writing those chapters

Trollocs do have a written language. The Guiding Stones in the Ways were defaced with Trolloc script, and The Dark Prophecy in FD was written in the same....
So, the obvious question becomes: What are Trolloc fairy tales? ("Fairy tales exist to teach children that there are things in this world which may wish to eat them.")
The RJ ter'angreal: Elayne herself translates "Truth/Lies" as "Non-fiction/Fiction" *Screams in Bookdragon*

I find how much I like Egwene is dependent on who she's interacting with. If it's with the Wise Ones, or the established Aes Sedai, I think she's great. If it's with her 'friends', most notably Nynaeve, I find it much harder to like her.

From the 1st time I read the books I thought of Gavyn and Galad as the idiot brothers.

The thing about Egwene is that she thinks she’s right, all the time, about everything. She doesn’t consider the possibility that she might be wrong about anything, or that she might not have enough knowledge or experience about something. She has full-on Main Character Syndrome.
Edit: see what you said about Gawyn? That’s Egwene too.

Nah Berelain was way too eager for Perrin. Faile was eager too but not nearly as much and it began to turn Perrin off too after a while in the beginning. But wolves mate for life and she was his mate. My theory is a lot of Failes bad choices were due to 1- her young age (she's 5-9 years younger than Berelain) and 2- the Pattern drew her to act based on Perrins Taveren nature. Reread her reactions to her most cringey actions. She literally uses similar language we see others use when they don't have control and are being manipulated by Ta'verrn.

Egwene is my favorite character. As the series progressed I liked her more and more. I think the moment where she truly became my favorite character is after she learns of Siuan's deposing (and Eliada's elevation), she has a clam conversation with Moiraine who treats Egwene as an equal. Not because of Egwene's strength, but because how Egwene handles herself. How Egwene projected herself for others to see. During the rest of the story there were still times I wanted to ask Egwene what the fuck she was thinking about and why she did what she did. But overall, I thought for the most part, she acted with strength and authority, even when not in a position of strength and authority.

The White Ajah do a lot of statistics and prediction about food, adm of Tar Valon and the economy that surrounds that. For me my problem with them it’s how they don’t care about emotions or see emotion as weakness. Emotions are logical and protective thousands of years of philosophers would found that at some point

I disliked Egwene through the first books when she was still so immature at 16. Same with Faile. but I felt for Egwene when she was enslaved. I didn’t like how Egwene treated Nyneave as she tried to become independent. But after Falme, I liked her.

Regarding Jenny's position that the story did not need the Faile-Beralain "fight" over Perrin (as an aside, I put fight in quotes because there was no fight where Perrin was concerned. He had no interest in Berelain. He told this to Berelain on multiple occasions but I am not sure if he told Faile. But I digress). I agree with Jenny. But not for the reasons she does. I thought Perrin should have discarded Faile long time ago. He was a better matich with Berelain. See one of Jenny's earlier hot take videos where she talked about my hot take. Of course Jenny did not agree with my hot take. If I ever get to a con where and Jenny is there, maybe I can convince her in person.

And as we talked about in comments about the Female Wolf brother. Now imagine if Tear locked up Berelain not just to Gobble up Mayene, but because she too has Golden Eyes.

The White Ajah is rather poorly explained in the books in my opinion. They're just like "idk logic or whatever" but I've always seen the White Ajah as the group dedicated to philosophy, they're the ones asking all the existential, big picture questions. To be quite honest, though, I think that role would be better served by a coalition of Aes Sedai from all the ajahs who serve on a committee. In this scenario, each Ajah elects its oldest, wisest, most experienced sisters to become White Ajah. They would become something like the U.S. Supreme Court. These sisters would also bring perspectives and experience from their original ajah to their new role, which would make them much more effective in doing work that is more of a practical use to the world.
To that point, the White Ajah should, in theory, be steering the entire ship. The biggest question: "who should the Aes Sedai be, how should we be present in the world" seems to be up to every individual Aes Sedai. They are not pulling together toward a common purpose. Blues and Greys should be coordinating their efforts. Reds, Yellows and Greens should all be coordinating their efforts. The Browns should supporting everyone's efforts, making sure they all have the relevant context for their objectives. But all that cooperation seems to be on an ad hoc basis in the books, there's no coordination to it. An improved White Ajah would be the glue that keeps everything connected.

Good points..... I saw them the same way... Kind of what RJ said at a book signing I was at WAY back around book 4 or 5... The WT was kinda set in their ways (One of their flaws I believe was intentionally written into their Arc)... The inability/unwillingness to adapt & change

Here's a hot take for you: Can we stop it with the 'White book of bad art" rudeness? Can ya'll do better? Just because it is not to your personal taste does not make it bad. Respect creators please. Your grandmothers would not approve.
