- I ran to Fulham Palace Parkrun which is 5k away from where I live.
I had decided I wouldn't run too hard!
But when I set off, my body had other ideas
Run With Julia is an opportunity to talk about your own running journey with a lifetime runner and coach who understands the high and lows, the twists and turns of the running road…
It is also an opportunity to learn about running from a pro
I started competing when I was twelve years old. I loved finding what was possible…
I ran fast times in the 1980’s
5k 15.50
5m 26.22
10k 33.29
10m 55.10
1/2m 72.48
Marathon 2.36.31
In 1985 I had the wonderful experience of winning the Dublin City Marathon.
I also competed in the 1986 Commonwealth Games, but had to retire during the race at 20m due to injury.
The personal experience of the ups and downs has been growthful for me, and also given me a depth of awareness that helps me to coach others and help them return after disappointments and set backs…
All these years later I am still loving competing and finding out what is possible….

Thanks Julia.❤
I'm 47 and I ran 22mins today as a slow parkrun, had a laugh with people and relaxed. At times I pray to God that I'll still be running at your age, when the strain starts to take its toll.My job is very physical(steelworker). So when it gets to the end of the week, sometimes I don't have the energy to run a fast parkrun.Youre doing a fantastic job with your running,if only all 65 yr old were like you.
@@Welshstreets Well done you! 🙌I totally understand needing to take it a bit easier after a very energy sapping job!
I'm fortunate in that I came into the world as a fast runner and 40 years ago ran 15.50 for 5k - so I've had lots of time to play with as the years have gone by ! 😀🏃🏼♀️
22 minutes for a 5k, wow that is epic
@@T29RAG Thank you 😊
you look happy. 90+ % age grade is an incredible achievement! you look well on it.

You're an inspiration! :)
@@tuukka9025 Thank you! 😊 I'm glad ! 🌟🏃🏼♀️❤️
Rain! It's hardly paused since October.
You and your fellow parkrunners looked well dunked. Meanwhile: I think I may have contracted chronic rust.
Well done on the age grade. That's fabulous.
@davidjuson5608 Thank you, David! You are right about the rain!! I'm going to make my way to Southampton again soon!! Xxx
@@RunWithJulia Good idea. Southampton is not always dry, but has a reliably sunny disposition.
However, the rust is still a worry at my age.
@davidjuson5608 Yes, yes - it definitely has a sunny disposition, like you! ☀️
I'm sure a spot of WD40 will do the trick if needed ! 😂👍
@@RunWithJulia Nah. It ruins the taste of beer. Keep smiling xx!
@@davidjuson5608 😂😂👍🍻🏃♂️xxx
hey Julia and its the same as any other time you just crush it and are so fast on your feet my friend. Congrats with your run. very very clever by you. Inga DK.
Thank you so much Inga, I appreciate your message!😀💞
Well done Julia. Looks a nice course and quite a fast one too. I live on the Surrey/Greater London border so might try this though would mean an early start. Great time by the way.
@geoffclarke3796 Hello Geoff 😀That would be an early start! ☀️ it's a lovely parkrun, but it does have narrow bits and can attract up to 600 runners in nice weather! I had the advantage of a rainy day so only about 400 appeared. Also, half the route is a sandy ish path along the river, which was also better with the rain as a bit firmer - for me - but others may prefer it dry, of course 😀 But a great atmosphere and very nice coffee shop right at the start / finish and public loos too!
Well done for your fabulous run 🙂
@@anaditaylor8457 Thank you for your fabulous filming!! 👌 xxx
Great, Great run Julia and so many words of wisdom in this video about performance and psych/emotional fatigue. Very well done! 💪🏃♀ xxx
@Eastbournebootcamp Thank you so much Matt 😊 yes - relaxation is the key whatever is going on! 🙏🏻💓🙏🏻
