G.-F. Händel, Aria of Lotario " Non disperi peregrino" (Atto secondo) from the opera "Lotario" (HWV 26). The italian libretto by Giacomo Rossi, who adapted the libretto of Antonio Salvi´s "Adelaide " ( the opera by Pietro Torri was performed already 1722 in München).
This opera should called "Ottone" , but Händel had already another one, so he gave this name , which mean quite the same person - the Imperor Otto .
After the liquidation of the Royal Academy of Music in 1728, Händel and Johann Jacob Heidegger founded in January 1729 the new one and Händel travelled to Italy to invite some singer . He visited also his mother in Halle, cames in June back and brought Anna Maria Strada to London. Carlo Broschi (Farinelli) rejected his invitation.
"Lotario " was finished on 16th November 1729 and was the first opera for the new Academy.
The opera was premiered at the King's Theatre in London on 2th December 1729.
Paolo Rolli commented in a letter at the time to Giuseppe Riva that "everyone thinks it a very bad opera". There were 10 performances, but it was not repeated.

The beginning of this aria seem to be verrry similar to the aria of Nireno "Chi perde un momento" from "Giulio Cesare in Egitto" (HWV 17), first performed on 20th February 1724 .
